If you are looking for vacationing in Chattanooga, there are a couple of attractions including: Lookout mountain, Ruby Falls, Incline Railway, Rock City Gardens & Tennessee aquarium. These attractions are unique in their own way.

Here’s what we did during our stay at Chattanooga last weekend (Oct 28th – Oct 29th):

Cabin: We bumped onto “City Overlook & Hideway” cabin on homeaway.com. The cabin was stupendous! It was spacious, cozy, hardwood floored, and very well maintained. The den had wall of glass windows to enable picturesque views of downtown Chattanooga, Lookout mountain and Signal mountain.

  Tennessee Aquarium: Address: 1 Broad St, Chattanooga, TN 37402

It is a great attraction for kids (toddlers and up), that houses attractions in two buildings: River Journey and Ocean Journey.  The exhibits include “Butterfly garden”, sea otters, different genre of fish, jelly fish, alligators, sea otters, et al.

Keep aside minimum of 3 hours to view all the exhibits at this attraction.

Ruby Falls: Address: 1720 Scenic Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37409.

Ruby falls was discovered by Leo and his friend, who crawled inside the hollow opening of lookout mountain for 17 hours. Leo named this falls after his wife.

It is an amazing  1 hour guided tour, traversing the underground cave of lookout mountain, in order to reach the 145 ft underground waterfall. This experience is absolutely marvelous. The cave has beautiful rock formations, and is extremely well maintained/lit.

Incline Railway: Address: Bottom station: 3917 St Elmo Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37409

This is world’s steepest passenger railway at 77% grade up the Lookout mountain. It is a thrilling ride with amazing panoramic views, as the train ascends the mountain. There are rides every 20 minutes to and fro the mountain.

Rock City Garden: Address: 1400 Patten Rd, Lookout Mountain, GA 30750

This is Chattanooga’s iconic attraction, located atop Lookout Mountain. The 2 hour journey through the ‘enchanted trail’ is true to its name, which reveals marvelous ancient rock formations, gardens with 400 plant species, breath-taking “7 states view” leading to the phenomenal waterfall. Kids (Toddlers and up) will also enjoy the “Mother goose village” showcasing all the characters from famous nursery rhymes and “Fairyland caverns”.
