Mesmerizing Finger Oil Natured Inspired Paintings by Iris Scott
Brooklyn-based artist Iris Scott (previously featured here) reverts back to traditional finger painting art to create a stunning oil series. The artist draws energy from the works of Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso and Sargent who embraced “instinctualism” art. No other art technique allows a freedom of execution as instinctualism. Scott describes the contemporary movement as “a reaction to the vapid non-representational painting wasteland of corporate abstract art. Rich in topic, color, and texture, Instinctualism is art that doesn’t need explanation to enjoy, for it will appeal to the innocent eyes of children as much as it will appeal to art collectors.”
The physical act of using her fingers to create the texture, emotion and movement forges a special bond between the art and Scott. Her creative paintings depict rich and colorful scenes drawn with a psychedelic display of colors, to a dazzling peacock lapping water from a coy pond and hypnotic urban landscapes. The scenes burst with life over every conceivable inch of the canvas are inspired by from Scott’s close relationship with her inner child.
You can find her work on her official website and Etsy shop.
