Proud Author Spotlight
~*~
Hi, I love your blog and have found so many gems through it! Thanks so much for the good work!
May I request you to rec a work of mine through the "Proud Authors Spotlight"? This is a sex-cursed WangXian fic written for the Close Quarters Exchange, in which WWX hides from the cultivation conference in the Jinlintai library after getting a sex curse, where he runs into LWJ. There's a bit of dubcon due to the sex curse, but it all turns out well for WangXian. Less smut, much angst and pining, and a canon-divergence with a happy ending. Thanks so much in advance!
Bearing that jasmine-scented night unfading in my heart

Part of the Close Quarters Exchange
Summary: Take her, whispers the amulet. The curse whips through him then, and he bites off a whimper before it can form. Take her, it sings through his blood. Look at her, she’s practically inviting you to take her, with her wide eyes and soft lips and softer body. Think of how blissful it will be to let go of this strain and sink into her softness like a sharp tooth into the supple, unbroken flesh of a grape. Wei Wuxian will die rather than give in to the curse. But before that, he’ll use what remains of his mind to do what he does best — research this curse and find a way to break it. As luck would have it, he’s stumbled into the one room in Jinlintai that nobody is likely to enter tonight — the library.

T, 5k, Wangxian & Wei Changze/Lan Qiren
Summary: Wei Ying learns quickly that he cannot be seen by the Jiang. Or, more specifically, he can’t be seen by Madam Yu, who seems to be around the streets of the city more than she ever had been before. Her seeing him will result in the usual spoken barbs, but also in lashings with the sparking purple of Zidian if there are few around. - Or, the one where Wei Changze returns. Kay's comments: Recently re-read this gem and loved it just as much as I did when the story first came out. Having Wei Changze and Lan Qiren getting together works surprisingly well and of course it's a delight to have Wei Ying grow up in Gusu, as a Lan. It starts out heart-breaking and then it turns out so soft and the petty part of me enjoyed watching the Jiangs flounder as well. Excerpt: Qiren looks as if he’s seen a ghost when the disciple leads Wei Changze into his office, dropping his brush. In a way, he has seen a ghost. “Changze,” he gasps, stumbling to his feet, nearly overturning his desk in his haste, “you—how? The boy??” “She’s gone, a-Ren,” and he can’t keep the grief out of his voice. He’s had five years, yes, but really he’s only had the past week. “I almost died during the hunt; I didn’t remember anything—not until a week ago. a-Ying—” He almost feels like he’s going to collapse if he has to think about what a-Ying went through for months, years, when he should’ve been loved and cared for. “Sit,” Qiren says, leading him to the table, hand remaining on his arm as if when he lets go, Wei Changze will disappear again. “a-Ren, they threw him out,” he says, because he has not been able to talk about this with anyone else and he cannot hold back any longer. “Fengmian didn’t even know if he still lived; my son, like he was naught but some trash!”
pov wei changze, canon divergence, pov wei wuxian, wei changze lives, lan qiren/wei changze, somebody lives/not everybody dies, dysfunctional jiang family, jiang family bashing, past child abuse, parent-child relationship, hurt/comfort, angst with a happy ending, childhood friends

The Laoshi and The Yiling Laozu by chiyukimei

The Laoshi and The Yiling Laozu
by chiyukimei (@chiyukimei)
M, 7k, Wangxian
Summary: Burial Mounds era Lan Qiren and Wei Wuxian had time travelled. - Lan Qiren narrowed his eyes. “You’ve heard of the Patriarch of Yiling before, boy?” Wei Wuxian watched his former teacher with suspicion, “Laoshi, you’ve been there when the sun was shot?” Lan Qiren nodded. Kay's comments: It's rare to find a Lan Qiren time-travels story that still feels close to his character like here. Though he's still a much nicer uncle than he is in canon, he actually needs some time warming up to Wei Wuxian after accidently time-travelling together with him. It's also extremely cute to see how much Wei Wuxian enjoys running around younger Lan Wangji and playing with him. Excerpt: A few days later, Lan Qiren caught sight of Wei Wuxian running alongside Lan Wangji, trying to make him smile and shouting non-stop: Lan Zhan this, Lan Zhan that. He tried hard to not roll his eyes at that childish behavior. God forbid, this man was twenty years old, and still, had no trouble blending in with the fifteen-year-olds. After Wangji left, he stopped Wei Wuxian. “What are you doing?” Wei Wuxian asked with a surprised face, “What am I doing?” Lan Qiren, “Why are you pestering Wangji?” Wei Wuxian bit his lower lip, “I’m not pestering him. I just want to be friends with him.” Lan Qiren, “Why?” Wei Wuxian happily exclaimed, “Isn’t it obvious? He is an upstanding, righteous, and beautiful person. Who wouldn’t want to make friends with him? If he smiled a bit all the sisters would be running after him.” “…Hmm, maybe that’s a good thing he doesn’t smile. You don’t have to deal with all those ladies Laoshi!” Lan Qiren grumbled, “Shameless!” Wei Wuxian, “Hah! That’s what Lan Zhan says, all the time! I really forgot how strict he was even when he was a teenager.”

Fatherhood's Calling by Fortune_Maiden

Fatherhood's Calling
by Fortune_Maiden
G, 1k, Xuanli
Summary: Jiang Yanli thought of Wei Wuxian as a son. It made so much sense. Everyone knew that Wei Wuxian lost his mother at a young enough age to barely remember her. And everyone also knew that Madame Yu had never been fond of him. So why wouldn’t compassionate gentle Jiang Yanli start to see that pitiable urchin as her own? But... if Jiang Yanli saw Wei Wuxian as a son, then didn’t that make Jin Zixuan, her husband, his father? Kay's comments: This is the funniest concept and it's absolutely delightful. I never even knew this idea of Jin Zixuan stepping up to be Wei Wuxian's new father figure was something that existed before it blew up on Twitter, but now I can't stop thinking about it. This story delivers on that idea and it's just so funny. The way Jin Zixuan is reckoning with the realization that Jiang Yanli sees Wei Wuxian as a son and what that means for him. Just awesome. Excerpt: After marrying Jiang Yanli, Jin Zixuan had to agree. Jiang Yanli was nothing but affectionate and supportive towards him, but the way she looked at him as his wife was very different from how she looked at Wei Wuxian. It was also, however, different from how she looked at her actual blood-sibling Jiang Wanyin. Not by much (Jiang Yanli loved both of her little brothers immeasurably after all), but just enough to give Jin Zixuan a sixth sense for when the conversation was about to turn to Wei Wuxian. The look on her face was definitely familiar, Jin Zixuan thought, but he couldn’t place it until the day that same look lit up A-Li’s face as she happily announced that she was pregnant.

Shine Brightly, That I May Glow by TheLegendOfChel

Shine Brightly, That I May Glow
by TheLegendOfChel (@the-legend-of-chel)
M, WIP, 62k, Wangxian
Summary:Every thousand years, two soulmates are born; one blessed by the power of the sun and the other by the moon. The Lan Sect rejoices when their second young master bears the mark of the moon. However, his other half is nowhere to be found. With every year that passes, the cultivation world becomes more desperate to find the missing sun spirit, and the Wen Clan in particular seems increasingly intent on claiming the sun spirit as their own. ----- When Lan Wangji is fifteen he meets Wei Wuxian, a guest disciple who is loud, annoying...and bright in every possible way. Kay's comments: This story is on hiatus, but it's definitely still definitely a story you should check out! It has the sun & moon combination of Wangxian that I am very fond of, Lan Wangji blessed by the moon and Wei Wuxian blessed by the sun, soulmates who are meant to be. Only no one knows that Wei Wuxian is blessed by the sun, because the Wens are yearning to claim the sun spirit for themselves and yet, Wangxian are still drawn to each other. I love their relationship in this, being drawn together despite Wei Wuxian's hidden identity as the sun spirit. It's just *chef's kiss* Excerpt: That being said, they were few and far between. Lan Wangji usually acted like Wei Wuxian didn’t exist, sometimes going so far as to put a silencing spell on him. Rude. Wei Wuxian would then retaliate by making silly faces at Lan Wangji, but the moon spirit didn’t even seem to notice. There were a few times Wei Wuxian considered just telling Lan Wangji that he was the sun spirit. He promised the Jiangs that he wouldn’t reveal his true identity to anyone, but surely Lan Wangji didn’t count? However, in the end Wei Wuxian decided against it. Maybe he would have felt differently if Lan Wangji had been more open to his friendship from the start, but Wei Wuxian knew that if he told Lan Wangji they were soulmates now and Lan Wangji changed his tune, a part of Wei Wuxian would always wonder if it was only out of a sense of responsibility.

T, 12k, Wen Qing-centric & Wangxian | Kay's & Mojo's Rec
Summary: Wen Qing, now known as Lan Ming, is a stoic child but never sulky. She's praised for her obedience and intelligence that far exceeds any of her peers. She's diligent and can already speak in full, clear sentences. Her mother—a distant cousin of Hanguang Jun himself—finds her own child eerie. When she falls, and red bleeds through the knees of her white robes, she doesn't cry. She simply stands and brushes herself off, then walks purposefully to the clinic. Lan Ming—or as she will always refer to herself, Wen Qing—will correct the healers as they gently cleanse her wound, as there is a much more effective disinfectant they can use. Reincarnated as a Lan, Wen Qing lives as best she can with the knowledge—and pain—of her past life. The balance she finds is disrupted when an unfamiliar face hides a not-so-unfamiliar heart.

MDZS Transmigration!AU
Okay, hear me out, what if Lan Wangji was a transmigrator? Like, OG!Lan Wangji would be this cold, rude a**hole who teamed up with the rest of the clans to drive Wei Ying to suicide in the original story. All the shenanigans upto Guanyin Temple happen, and LWJ is killed by NMJ's spirit along with JGY in the end, all orchestrated by NHS.
Sweet, shy, quiet Lan Zhan stumbles upon this webnovel, and instantly hates Lan Wangji (who has a large fan base for some reason) for what he did to his favourite character, Wei Ying. He is miraculously transported into the story as Lan Wangji, and immediately takes it upon himself to fix everything. Soon enough, he falls for Wei Ying.
Xichen obviously notices that it's not his brother, so they talk about it, and Lan Zhan tells him all about what happens. So, Jin Guangshan is prevented and Xichen keeps a close eye on Meng Yao. The Jiang family survives — no one dies, including Jin Zixuan. Lan Zhan befriends Huaisang early on, to not get on his bad side, and gets him married to Jiang Cheng.
The drama with the Wens still happen, though. Jiang Cheng still loses his core, and Wei Ying gives his own core to him and takes up demonic cultivation. (The core-giving was not explicitly mentioned in the original webnovel, so there was nothing Lan Zhan could do, since he didn't know about it.) But, it was easier to get rid of them this once, and the Lan sect agreed to house the Dafan Wens after the war.
Wei Ying still becomes the Yiling Patriarch, and many people hate him, but it's better that what actually happened in the webnovel. He doesn't die, falls in love with Lan Zhan very late (cue the infinite pining) and marries him later on.
Wei Ying probably starts his own sect, and Lan Zhan leaves Gusu to live there. A happy ending, ha!
(But imagine what would happen if he was suddenly catapulted back into his real world one day? He'd be shattered and heartbroken for days until he meets Wei Ying again there. The romance part 2 probably starts there, with Wei Ying pretending to not have crossed over from that world to see him.)
Anyway, that's all for now! Bye!
