I’m tellin ya’ll, in this drama, no one is safe. 

It’s quite exciting. It focuses more on the human side while the setting plays an influence in the characters humanity. It has a similar approach to Alice in Borderland in terms of those elements. 

Even if we’re in hell, we still gotta keep going, don’t we?! I’m not giving up. I made her a promise. If there’s no path, I’ll make one.

Joshi Kosei no Mudazukai - out of context

So, I recently got into this anime called Wonder Egg Priority. I loved how the first episode did not waste time creating fillers. It immediately started off with the journey of our FL, Ohto Ai. The story involves themes such as depression, suicide, and coping with ones guilt from the aftermath of those events. 

I’m currently up to episode 5 and the character Momoe Sawaki (Above photo) caught my attention. Her character arc reminded me of Kurosawa Yuichi from Cherry Magic (Below photo). 

The episodes that have been aired so far reveals Momoe is yearning to be seen as a woman/girl. However, many of the people she meets along the way have ended up falling for her because of her masculine appearance. Which mirrors Kurosawa Yuichi. Kurosawa is also a character who is popular among woman but he is also seen mainly for his looks. For most people seeing from afar, it may be a desirable aspect. However, both characters present this attention to be painful for them. 

They both wish to be seen as a person beyond what’s on the surface. It may not be a unique character arc/direction however I find it interesting seeing another perspective of the popular character trope. 

There has been real-life celebrity, Megan Fox revealing a similar experience to these two characters. This points to the argument, this character arc may not be far from reality. 

I believe I also found this storytelling to be intriguing because personally, in real life, people tend to only show interest in my nationality but show little interest in me as a person. I’m flattered and grateful my nationality has good impressions however there is more than meets the eye.

I wanted to put my thoughts into words somehow. I might delete this post if my discussion may be off from the upcoming episodes to Wonder egg priority.
