his recommendation is to keep NSFW words out of your doc titles and instead of sharing the "open link", share directly with you beta's email addresses.

It is also more likely to flag up explicit images, though that is less likely to be a fic problem.

thing is, I genuinely do not care if you hate Jack/Vlad and want to run me over with a bus for shipping them, you can think Jack/Vlad as a ship is a crime against humanity and the sole reason behind global warming, it doesn't matter to me one bit it's when you come on my posts to bother me personally about it when I start to get bothered I too am a hater at heart and I dislike some completely harmless ships for no reason, and that's fine, it's when you go out of your way to complain to shippers, or flood tags with negativity, when it becomes a problem everyone understands someone out there is going to absolutely despise anything they love, it's human nature.... but just respect boundaries be a hater in your own space or whatever

Vlad goes out of his way to personally fight Jack after the humiliating defeat he's suffered in 'Million Dollar Ghost', except all it does is that Jack develops the same kind of hate-crush on Plasmius, as Vlad has on Jack....

Oh yeah, you're right. I actually hadn't had this explicitly on my radar at the time of writing, but Vlad definitely did not have control of Danny when he entered his dream so there was no loss of agency for Danny to experience in that scenario.

As for why, I'm not sure that it's the half-ghost part that makes it harder. We've seen Danny get overshadowed multiple times, and Danny was even able to overshadow a half-strength Vlad duplicate with apparently zero difficulty in Eye for an Eye. Danny also overshadows his loved ones with pretty much no difficulty or remorse, and Maddie was overshadowed by Dani at one point so it's not about Maddie being particularly resistant. I think Vlad's reluctance to personally overshadow Danny and Maddie is a boundary that he's placed on himself rather than some direct power limitation, which can open the door for some cool stuff if you're writing fanfic.

Going into personal headcanon territory for Paradigm Shift!Vlad for example, he was helpless against the people who had him and had little to no agency for years due to the accident, so on a subconscious level he'd avoid doing the same to those he cared about. His transgression with regards to that boundary in KS would also be highlighted as a betrayal of himself that had to be remedied during any redemption arc that took place.

It is strange that in the series Vlad never attemped using some form of hypnotism to make Danny be his pupil. Because like, that would have been more effective than trying to clone him? He would have wasted less time and less resources using some artifact to make Danny do what he wants instead of doing all that elaborated process that is trying to have a stable clone.

Actually adding on to this cause I've been thinking about it some more, I think who Vlad is willing to overshadow and who he isn't is interesting to note? With Jack he'll happily do it, and to people he doesn't know well or who he targets(all the rich people he overshadowed so he could take their stuff), but Maddie is off-limits. And Danny is off-limits until Kindred Spirits where Vlad does cross that line in a sense by having one of the clones overshadow Danny to force him to transform. Vlad still doesn't do it himself, possibly because that would interfere with getting the mid-morph sample, possibly because that's still a line he won't cross by overshadowing Danny personally. Maybe Vlad thinks he hasn't crossed that personal "moral boundary" with Danny as long as it's not him directly doing the possession? 🤔 I think he's crossed it by having another ghost overshadow Danny for him but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't think he had just because he didn't personally overshadow Danny.

Even after Kindred Spirits, Vlad still doesn't try to personally overshadow Danny and Maddie. Even after Vlad was apparently willing to get rid of the original Danny once his prime clone was secured, he's still not willing to do that.

Of course part of the inconsistency is the continuously-unraveling continuity that DP suffered throughout its run, but you could see Vlad transgressing on his own personal boundary as more of his slipping into even heavier villainy and becoming even worse as a person.

Yeah seconding what @hello-im-not-a-possum said. It's the same reason Vlad never overshadowed or hypnotized Maddie(doesn't stop him from trying to whittle down the actual choices Maddie and Danny have with his schemes for getting rid of Jack, but it's not a direct revocation of their agency), he wants them to join him willingly. And I guess the clones even work as an extension of this too--if the real Danny wouldn't join Vlad then he'd just make one who would.

every now and then I see people on this site argue that Vlad's name cannot possibly be Vladimir because "In Russian Vlad is short for Vladislav!" and I just sit there like good thing Vlad ain't Russian then 🤷‍♀️
