You guys are the reason why I am here today. You mean the world to me. This letter is to say thank you to you. Thank you for giving birth to me and welcoming me to this world. Thank you for taking care of me even though I am a hard-headed child. Thank you for supporting me, especially in my financial needs. Thank you for all the hard work you have done for me just to raise me. Thank you for loving me even though I am not the best child, like others. I really appreciate those things you did and doing for me until now. I am blessed and beyond grateful to have you as my parents. I owe you a lot, mama and papa. "Dream big, set goals, and take action."

All of us have dreams that we want to become in the future and goals to achieve in life.

When I was a child, whenever someone asked me about what I wanted to become when I grew up, I always answer that I wanted to be a doctor. Until now, what I want to become in the future is to become a successful doctor. I want to help people who are suffering from pain. I want to cure their sick and fend off their nasty diseases. I also want to discover new treatments for them. Being a doctor seems powerful because they can save lives. They were like magicians because they could bring you back from death.

However, I have many goals in life. We all know that goals are a very important aspect to succeed in life. My first goal is to be a better version of myself and live my best life in the future. Second, I want to be more empowered to make decisions towards my happiness. I also want to face each challenge to make myself stronger. I should stop the fear of failure and overcome it. I want to make my parents proud of what I have become someday. These goals of mine increase over time.

Through hard works, all of our dreams and goals will bring us success soon. Just brace ourselves for the ride, and enjoy the journey. Do not lose hope because the best is yet to come.

OPM Band #1: Eraserheads

Walang ibang banda ang nakagawa ng epekto na kasing laki ng sa Eraserheads sa industriya ng musikang Pilipino.

Ang Eraserheads ay isa sa mga pinakamatagumpay na Pilipinong grupo o bandang rock. Sila ay kinikilala bilang “The Beatles of the Philippines.” Nabuo ito sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas noong 1989. Ang mga miyembro ng bandang ito ay sina Ely Buendia, Marcus Adoro, Buddy Zabala, at Raymund Marasigan. Si Ely Buendia ay ang pangunahing kumakanta (lead vocalist) at gumagamit ng gitara bilang instrumento. Siya rin ang punong manunulat ng kanta ng bandang ito. Ang pangunahing gitarista (lead guitarist) nila ay si Marcus Adoro. Si Buddy Zabala ay isang Pilipinong musikero na tanyag bilang bassist ng Eraserheads. Samantalang si Raymund Marasigan naman ang tambulero (drummer) ng rock band na ito.

Maraming pagtatagumpay ang natamo ng Eraserheads. Noong 1993, naglabas sila ng kanilang unang album, ang Ultramagneticpop. Dahil sa kanilang malayang diwa at natatanging tunog, nanguna ang grupo nila sa mga tsart sa Maynila. Noong 1996, ang album nilang Cutterpillow ay nagkamit ng ginto, walong beses na nasertipikadong platinum, at pinakamataas na bumentang album kailanman sa Pilipinas. Taong 1998, lumawak ang bisibilidad ng banda sa kabilang ibayo ng bansa sa pamamagitan ng paglalabas ng album na Aloha Milkyway sa Asian market. Marami pang mga napagtagumpayan ang Eraserheads noon hanggang sa kasalukuyan at sila ay kilalang-kilala pa rin dahil sa angkin nilang galing sa pagsulat at pag-awit ng kanta.

OPM #2: BEN&BEN

Isa sa hinahangaang OPM band ngayong henerasyon ay ang Ben&Ben. Sila ay kilala bilang The Benjamins na nanalo bilang siyam na miyembrong Folk-pop na banda galing sa Manila. Itinuturing sila bilang pinakamalaki at naglalagablab na banda sa Pilipinas dahil sa mga liriko nilang tumatagos sa puso, kakaibang musika, at mala-electric vibe sa entablado. Ang bandang ito ay binubuo ng kambal na sina Paolo at Miguel Benjamin, Agnes Reoma, Poch Barretto, Keifer Cabugao, Pat Lasaten, Toni Muñoz, Andrew de Pano, at Jam Villanueva. Ang kambal na sina Paolo at Miguel ang tumutugtog ng acoustic guitars at ang bokalista. Electric guitar ang instrumentong tinutugtog ni Poch at biyolin naman kay Keifer. Ang bassist ng banda ay si Agnes, samantalang si Pat ang sa keyboards. Sina Toni at Andrew ang nagtatambulin at tambulero naman si Jam.

Halos kilala na sa buong mundo ang Ben&Ben dahil sa kapana-panabik nilang pagtatanghal na para sa lahat ng edad. Naimbitihan na silang magtanghal sa mga music festivals sa buong mundo, kabilang ang Singapore’s Music Matters, Austin’s South by Southwest Music Festival 2020, at iba pa. Nakakatuwa na ang bandang ito ay halos iaalay ang kanilang sarili sa musikang kanilang nililikha sa pamamagitan ng mga awit na ukol sa pag-asa, pag-ibig, at pagiging positibo.

OPM BAND #3: Parokya ni Edgar

Kilala mo ba ang bandang naghahari sa palabiruan, sumusulat ng mga nakatatawang mga kanta na madalas ay may kakaibang paksa?

Ang Parokya ni Edgar ay kilala at ginugunita bilang Comic Relief. Nabuo ang bandang ito noong 1993 sa Pamantasang Ateneo de Manila na may anim na estudyante na sina Chito Miranda, Vinci Montaner, Darius Semana, Gab CheeKee, Buwi Meneses, at si Dindin Moreno. Si Chito Miranda ang bokalista, at si Vinci Montaner ay mananayaw at ang back-up singer. Sina Darius at Gab ang gitarista ng grupo, bassist naman si Buwi Meneses, at tambulero si Dindin Moreno. Sila ay dalubhasa sa pagganap ng parodiya ng iba’t-ibang kilalang kanta.

Kagaya ng Eraserheads, naipamalas ng Parokya ni Edgar ang kanilang husay sa iba’t ibang plaka ng mga awitin na kanilang nagawa. Kasabay din nito ang paglawak ng kanilang estilo sa paggawa ng musika mula alternative rock, pop rock, rap at funk . Ang banda ay nagsimulang magtanghal sa Manila’s hotbed para sa Club Dredd noong 1994. Naging paborito sila ng mga tao dahil sa kanilang kakaibang damit at sa mga kalokohang ginawa nila sa stage. Noong 1996 debut ng Parokya ni Edgar ay ginawa ng Youth’s Robert Javier ang album na KHANGKHUNGKHERRNitZ na anim na buwang naging platinum. Kalaunan, sa inilabas nilang album na BURUGUDUYSTUNSTUGUDUNSTUY ay nalamang may kinakaharap silang seryosong material o problema ngunit pinananatili pa rin nila ang nakatatawang kanta na kung saan sila nagmula. Marami pang ibang album at mga kanta ang mas nagpabantog sa kanila kaya itinuring silang "The National Band of the Philippines."

OPM BAND #4: ORANGE & LEMONS

Ang pangalan ng bandang Orange & Lemons ay nagmula sa Oranges and Lemons na tula o kantang pambata. Ang Orange & Lemons ay Pinoy indie pop o alternative rock na banda na nabuo noong 1999. Binuo ito ng mang-aawit, manunulat ng kanta, at isang gitarista na si Clem Castro, pati ng tambulerong si Ace del Mundo, at ang kapatid niyang si JM del Mundo na bassist. Ang dating miyembrong si Mcoy Fundales ang nagsilbing pangalawang bokalista simula nang mabuo ito hanggang noong 2007. Ang genre ng musika ng bandang ito ay pinaghalong alternative rock, indie pop, experimental music at naimpluwensyahan ng ibang banda sa iba’t-ibang henerasyon.

Kagaya ng mga naunang banda, naglikom din ang Orange & Lemons ng iba’t-ibang karangalan. Nakapaglabas sila ng tatlong album at nagtagumpay ang kanilang sopomor na album na Strike Whilst the Iron is Hot na inilabas noong 2005. Ito ay nagtamo ng dobleng platinum. Ang huling album nila na Moonlane Gardens ay tinaguriang “Album of the Year” noong 2007 sa NU Rock Awards. Nagwatak-watak ang grupong ito noong 2007, ang iba ay bumuo ng sarili nilang grupo. Noong Hulyo 2017, nag-anunsyo ang banda ng repormasyon bilang trio at naglabas ng kanilang single na Lovers Go, Lovers Come noong Disyembre 2017. Ang pinakabagong kanta na nailimbag nila ay ang “Yakapin Natin ang Gabi.”

OPM BAND #5: CALLALILY

Ang pangalan ng bandang Callalily ay nagmula sa tatak ng paboritong tinapay ng mga miyembro nito. Nabuo sila noong 2006 at may limang miyembro na tumutugtog sa saliw ng musika na pop rock. Ito ay sina Kean Cipriano, Lemuel Belaro, Aaron Ricafrente, Ken Tiongson, at Nates Reyes. Kabilang sa mga kilalang dating miyembro sina Tatsi Jamnague at Alden Acosta. Noong 2017, saglit na bumalik si Acosta. Si Kean Cipriano ay ang bokalista at gitarista ng banda. Si Lemuel ang tumutugtog ng mga instrumentong tambol, handsonic, at synth. Ang bassist nila ay si Aaron. Gitarista sina Ken at Nates, at sinama na rin natin ang keys kay Nates.

Ang Callalily ay nanalo at nagkamit ng maraming parangal sa industriya ng musika sa Pilipinas simula pa noong una silang sumabak sa larangan ng pagtugtog. Taong 2006 noong naglabas ng kauna-unahang sertipikadong Platinum Hit Debut Album na DESTINATION XYZ. Ang mga single na nailabas sa record na ito ay nanguna sa Philippine Radio at sa mga tsart ng TV hit. Ang banda ay nakapaglabas na ng limang Studio Albums: Destination XYZ, Fisheye, Callalily, Flower Power, at Greetings from Callalily. Ang banda ay naglalakbay papasok at palabas ng bansa sa loob ng 14 taon nang sunod-sunod. Sa ngayon, sila ay nagpaplano na muling maglabas ng bagong album.

CHRISTMAS EVE: A NORMAL DAY

I celebrated Christmas eve by going to church with my cousins. I prayed about my wishes in life after completing nine days of Simbang Gabi. After that, I went home and waited for Christmas, Jesus' birthday, by laying down in bed. We did not prepare food for Christmas eve because we usually prepare food for New Year's eve. 12:00 in the morning, many people greeted me with "Merry Christmas," so I greeted them back. That's it, that's how I celebrated Christmas eve as a normal day.

When I woke up, my godparents and other relatives gave me a Christmas gift. I was beyond thankful for that. May the Lord bless them twice as what they gave me. I believe that: "It is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving."

WORST NEW YEAR'S EVE

I can say that the New Year's eve I celebrated was the worst. In the second photo, my cousins and I went to our grandparent's house to look at what food they prepared. They let us eat some food they prepared. I look happy in that picture because of our Lola's pose.

Later on, 11:00pm, my parents fought. I heard what they were saying to each other, and it made my heart break into pieces. I cried secretly so that they could not notice me. I could not do anything to make them stop and just celebrate New Year's eve. When the time came, the new year, I celebrated it alone. All the smiles I made when someone greeted me were fake because my heart felt so heavy. I even went to church alone that supposedly I was with them, my parents. Everything hurts that is why I cosidered that as the worst new year.

December 2021

December 2021 was when I got my new phone. Also, that month, I was allowed to go to SM with my cousins and my love. We enjoyed playing, shopping, and eating there. We did not waste our time to enjoy being together because we were barely allowed by our parents to go out. When I am with them, it feels like I am far away from everyone and everything: that feeling that you cannot even think that you have problems. I just love being with them, treasuring and valuing each other. Just enjoy every moment that I am with them, especially with my girl, because there are no turning back, only flashbacks. "Make sure that every moment will be worth it."

March 2021

March 2021 was a normal month for me. I was at our house every day at that month, studying. There was no going out that happened because I was just literally in our home. From what I have remembered, I am busy studying and completing my tasks undone because our examination was approaching that month.

Even though there was nothing much happened during that month, I am always thankful to God because He let me survive every single day. I am thankful because He gave us food for us to eat. Sometimes, life seemed so complicated but always remember that we have God that will help us no matter what. Just pray to Him and wait for what we will receive.

November 2021

November 2021 was very memorable for me, us! We had a quality time together, went to church, and ate after. I love the taste of chicken wings at Bhenakies, and I am missing that now. We even made the oreo ice cream challenge on TikTok and the crew was mean to us. Also, it was very sweet, so I did not finish eating it and ended up throwing it.

The other one that was a memorable day in November 2021 was when we went shopping for our store with my cousin. We bought so many goods and things, that's why we had a hard time carrying those. We ate after we went shopping, then went home. By the way, that was my first time going shopping, and I can say that that was really an exhausting day.

October 2021

October 2021 was a month to remember because my cousins and I had a lot of time togther. We slept over in their house, played mobile games, watched movies, and cooked food. We were also helping each other to finish our school works. Being happy with them was priceless. We were laughing and cheering up each other. I love those girls very much, and I will treasure them always.

I got confidence wearing a sando that month. I only wear it once because when I am wearing it, I look very skinny.

Despite of being confident wearing it, I heard some insult about that. It hurt me and starting from that day, I barely wear a sando.

September 2021

September 2021 was a normal month again for me. That month was my first day as a senior high student in online class learning. It was a tough time for me that month because I decided what my strand should be. I was also nervous entering my senior high journey, but I did not regret choosing STEM as my strand. It was hard, but patience and hardwork is the key.

Also, this month was a trauma for me because I caught my cousin filming me in the bathroom, naked. I cried so hard that time. The most hurtful part is I did not even hear a sorry from him or his family, that is why I have resentment towards them. The trauma still haunts me now.

July 2021

July 2021 was my cousin's eighteenth birthday and my love's birthday. Let us first talk about my cousin. She was at her legal age, and all I wish for her is to be succesful in life and have a man that will treasure her and love her no matter what. We ate on her birthday with our other cousins. We love the taste of her mother's spaghetti, so we bond by eating.

July 2021, I was allowed to go to my love's birthday even it was a rainy day. We bought her a cake before going to her house. After we arrived, we ate with her friends. I was joyful that time because I was able to attend her advanced special day. I love how her mom talks about her. Even though I am a shy type of person, she managed to entertain me. I love my girl so much, and my wish for her is may her dreams come true someday.

August 2021

I had mixed emotions in August 2021. Let us start with my selfie photo. That time, I used my lover's phone because my phone was confiscated. It was a tough time for me because I have no siblings and my phone was the only thing I used to entertain myself.

Next was my achievement for finishing Junior High. That time, my phone was returned to me. I was glad and proud of myself because I did it to the 'With Honors.' I did my very best, and all the hardships I made paid and were really worth it.

The photo of pants, mine and hers, was captured on August 31, 2021. We get our diplomas and medals that day and we ate after that. It was such a memorable day with her. Actually, everyday was a memorable day when I am with the person I love.

June 2021

There was this day which was a memorable one because it was such a boring day. I went out with my cousin, but the whole day was so very boring. The feels that I wanted to go home kills me. We went to our friend's house to celebrate his niece's birthday. We just ate, and after that, we consumed our time standing, seating, and taking a picture there. When my time came, going home😂, I was really excited because it felt like it was such a long day. I just wanted to lay down all night in bed after I got home. I am not that tired, but I just wanted to rest. Honestly, I enjoyed that day despite the boringness because I am allowed by my parents to go out again.
