Dark blues, silvers, and greys/blacks. Kyoran also has teal streaks in her hair that have been there for years. She typically rarely strays from this color pallette.💙🖤

Kyoran sits down with Astarion after everyone goes to bed one evening and talks to him about how he feels after Cazador.

“Hello, my dear.” “They’re asleep Astarion, you can drop the mask now. It’s just us.” “Even the Wizard?” “Even Gale.” “Apologies. It’s quite the new experience for me - this.” “A friend?” “More than that, my friend.” His eyes shift away as he mutters under his breath. “Acceptance. I don’t…well, I don’t have to fool you, so to say.” “You never have.” “And that was infuriating, might I add.” “Yeah?” Kyoran chuckles. “Maddening. But…thank you. Thank you for seeing me for more than what I could see in myself.” “You never have to thank me for that, Astarion.” He looks over to her and she watches the hardened mask fall away to leave a man, desperate for love.

What does Kyoran's name represent to her?

Kyoran's name is a mixture of Drowic and Elven. It means "Saw hand/maker," as in she saw a hand/maker of music. "Kyor" is Drowic and "-an" is Elven. The reason why this name is significant to her is because it represents how she found music. She watched carefully as someone plucked away on a lute at one of her mother's recitals. Enticed by the way the hands held and pressed and slid down the strings, Kyroan stared at the nimble fingers, enthralled. They'd hold a pattern to play a specific collection of notes and Kyoran couldn't help but want to do the same. After watching the musician play for hours, she decided she would play too. Lucky for Kyoran, her hand managed to see instruments the same way. Her first name was Solen (Drowic for "eyes"), but her parents would often call her Gi'Solen Drowic for "Oh, eyes").

If Kyoran had time to pick up any artisan's tools, game set, instrument, etc., what would it be?

Kyoran's already proficient in every instrument across Faerûn...So, if she had to pick up something else, she'd likely choose Carpenter's Tools or Woodcarver's Tools. Of course, it always goes back to music for her, but Kyoran would love to craft her own violin one day. And, if she could pick up one of these tools, she'd be one step closer to being able to do so.

Where does Kyoran feel most at home?

When she's with people she loves. Kyoran's home is never a physical place. It's the people she surrounds herself with. Familial and friendly bonds are incredibly important to her. Whether it be her parents, friends, or a partner, as long as Kyoran has at least one person beside her that she loves - she's home.

What is Kyoran's favorite season?

Kyoran loves Autumn. She loves the brisk cool of the night and the way she can curl up comfortably beside a fire while she reads over her latest composition. She also finds that she loves the warmth of the festivals and the joy that people exude during this time of year. Her favorite festival is the Autumn Equinox as it employed her mother year after year and became a staple in their household. In her youth, once Kyoran had practiced music enough, even she would perform at this festival alongside her mother. Kyoran also remembers a special Autumn night when she spent the evening, from dusk until dawn, talking around a feast with her friends in celebration.

What's Kyoran's opinion on killing others?

She's not a fan of it, but she does what she must to make it out on the other side. If it's the party's safety/well-being vs someone else, she'll choose the party every time. It's a means to an end for Kyoran. She doesn't like killing anyone without extenuating circumstances. However, depending on the group's safety and survival, exceptions can and have been made.

How far is Kyoran willing to go to pursue the "greater good"? Does she believe in a greater good at all?

Kyoran's not entirely sure what the "greater good" is. At first, she thought she knew, but after traveling with both her parents and the party, that idea has been skewed so heavily that she's started to believe in her own kind of "good" instead. Kyoran sees herself as an average person, trying to pursue an average life. She's no hero trying to pursue a "greater good" for the greater people. She views the events at Baldur's Gate as something she simply had to do because of the circumstances she was put in. Never would she have "pursued the greater good" had it not been thrust upon her. Kyoran's always sought a quiet life and to be the best version of "good" she can be to those around her. There's never been a desire to chase or even find the "greater good."

If Kyoran was granted a single use of Wish, what would she use it for?

Kyoran would likely hold onto Wish until she absolutely needed it. The only thing she would likely use it for would be to bring back a friend if their life had been cut short. While she typically doesn't believe in tampering with the balance of life and death, she wouldn't be able to stand by and just watch Karlach, Gale, Astarion, or Shadowheart meet their demise before they've lived long and full life.

Question of the Day

What is Kyoran's relationship with magic? Is she scared of it, wish to know more about it, indifferent to it?

Being a Bard, Kyoran has some experience with magic. Prior to the adventure to Baldur's Gate, she hadn't worked with it often. She had played with some magic here and there, but there were no more than small conjurations. She'd use them in her music sets in hopes of making her act more interesting or possibly even woo an audience member. Once she met Gale, Kyoran definitely became a bit more interested in magic itself and saw it's importance in their survival back to Baldur's Gate. She found herself frequently turning to the wizard to teach her more whenever she felt she needed a new edge in combat. Overall, Kyoran is curious about it, but she doesn't really think about it outside of the necessity for the situation at hand.

She should have pushed him away. She should have driven a stake through his heart. She should have kicked him out of the group. But, she didn’t. Instead, she offered her neck, kindly and freely, and told him to drink. He’ll never forget the way her blood tasted as it flowed across his tongue. Sickly sweet and bright. Like a poison, it seeped into his veins, fueling him with strength he’d never known. As the velvety liquid flooded his senses, it pushed him closer and closer to feeling more alive than he’d felt in centuries. Rodents and Kobald be damned. Nothing could compare to her. His mind had started to cloud, drunk on the taste of her. By the mouthful, he swallowed her ichor, losing a sense of self as he drank his fill. Thankfully, she remained more alert than he and pushed him off before he drank so much he’d regret it. Licking his lips, Astarion stared at her neck, grinning to himself about the leniency he’d been given. She had every right to tell him no, but she hadn’t. She had every right to be angry, but the furrow in her brow displayed otherwise. She had every right to tell him to get lost, but she encouraged him to stay. She was his first and she was divine, and Astarion found himself succumbing to the idea of her blood dancing across his lips for a second time. He could get addicted to the taste of her, fueling him with the feeling of life he’d long forgotten. Though, as much as he wanted to, he’d never ask for it. ”This is a gift, you know.” He decided on instead. “I’ll never forget it.” He flexed his hands as he walked away, noting how they almost felt - warm? When was the last time he’d felt his own body produce heat? Was this the power of intelligent blood? The blood - her blood - coursed through him unlike any other he had tasted before. It filled his body with vitality and breathed color back into his world. The sensation of life that overcame him felt unreal. And, before he even stepped foot out of camp, Astarion found himself craving more. Shit.

Does Kyoran regret any particular choice the party has made?

There isn't much she regrets in life in general. Kyoran takes each day as it comes and doesn't allow herself to wallow in the "what ifs." However, there were a few pinch points Kyoran wished the group didn't have to suffer through during their travels. But, she doesn't fully regret those decisions either because she was able to bring aboard other people to help as well. Wyll and Lae'zel were her two biggest issues during the party's travels. Wyll had Mizora on his trail, putting Karlach in danger, and Lae'zel refused to see the voice of reason at any point during their journey. Yet, she can't bring herself to regret grabbing either one of them as she knows that their lives could have been cut short had they not traveled with her.

What does Kyoran think is the true meaning of life?

Kyoran believes the true meaning in life is to find a goal and chase it. And after "obtaining" that goal, one should work hard to maintain it. She doesn't believe a goal is an award that can be given and then forgotten. She believes a goal is a way of life or a grand display that you can continue to chase over and over again until your dying day. For example, Kyoran finally found herself gracing illustrious stages after the events at Baldur's Gate, but that was only part of her life's goal. While performing on a larger scale, Kyoran still strives to prove that people can be more than their heritage. Her overarching life goal is to help change the minds of the people of the overworld regarding her people (Seldarine Drow) and other non-violent Underdark citizens. It's a goal she set her sights on when she was still a child and its a goal she plans to chase until her very last breath.

Does your Tav have any talents that aren't exactly useful to the adventure itself?

Kyoran can sing and dance. Neither of those skills are particularly useful. And a couple other of her "useless to the adventure talents" include being good at body percussion and a being able to execute a few basic card tricks. 🃏

What would your tav/durge wear if they had to attend a masquerade ball / gala for a quest?

Kyoran is fairly low-key, but always knows how to look classically elegant in occasions such as these

What's one thing you absolutely love about your Tav? (Can be appearance, personality, history).

There are many things I love about Kyoran but I think my favorite is that she had a fairly "normal" life prior to the events of Baldur's Gate. She still had her own troubles but nothing of note. So, her tenacity to return to normal really shined. She's no Hero, just a Musician💙

What is Kyoran the most envious about, regarding anyone in the party?

She's envious of a handful of things.

- She's envious of how everyone quickly loved Karlach - no questions asked. She also wishes she had the tiefling's strength. - She's envious of smart Gale is. Kyoran believes herself to be intelligent, but not quite in the same way he is. She wishes she could think on a level that he does, but her head is full of people and music instead of history and strategy. - She's envious of Jahira's cunning personality. She wants to be as cutthroat as the woman. - She's envious of Halsin's peace, for a war currently swells and wages inside of her as each night she wonders whether she'll see the dawn of tomorrow.

Yet, despite having envy for many of her companions, Kyoran admires and appreciates those qualities. She envies, but she doesn't allow that envy to turn her mean. Instead, she seeks to learn and become more like the qualities she envies.
