Much has been said about how dumb Buck was projecting his feelings of jealousy over Eddie onto Tommy (and it’s true, he’s so dumb) but also let’s talk about how dumb Eddie is being besties with Tommy for like a week and then suddenly deciding he fuckin hates that guy after Buck starts dating him.

Alright in hindsight it is kind of funny that seemingly at first the writers were like “we’re going to have this one-off character who’s basically going to exist for one episode to be the frustratingly impossibly perfect foil for buck,” when writing eddie’s character for the first time.
but then eddie worked so well as a character that they were like “okay, well, we just introduced a Jennifer Love Hewitt character who’s not obviously paired up, so he can be her love interest,” but then jlh had the brilliant idea that maddie should be paired up with chimney and so that was out the window.
So they probably just started really developing the buck/eddie friendship thinking that it made for a fun dumb-and-dumber style best friendship/comedic duo, and they could figure out the love interest thing for both of them in the future. Except they way overshot it and accidentally made them soulmates.

I just rewatched an episode, the Buddie's fight at the supermarket in season 3 and I just laughed so hard because the faces everyone made were like:

especially Lena, girl I understand you, I would also be so confused by the homosexual vibe of those two.

Buck, watching thirst traps of Eddie on his phone: That ass of yours should be illegal. Bobby: Language! Buck, still scrolling: Y no muerde ese perro culazo que te cargas? Hen: Now, he learns another language. Chim: I respect his commitment. Bobby: That's not what I meant! Eddie, making bedroom eyes at Buck: Are you thirsting over me in spanish? Suddenly I'm ovulating and you need to do something about it. Ravi: This doesn't feel like a safe space anymore.

Eddie: Hey, so I'm gay. Buck: No you aren't Eddie: What? Buck: You're my straight best friend. You can't be my gay best friend. Eddie: Buck, yes I can. Buck: Nope. You're either my straight best friend or my gay boyfriend, you can't be my gay best friend. Eddie: Then... I guess I'm your gay boyfriend? Buck: Awesome, see you at home honey. Eddie: ???

Thinking about how eddie and buck were definitely bedroom kids but chris is so clearly a living room kid and that's the kind of breaking of generational trauma i love to see

I want a madneybuddie double date just because going into it Buck and Chimney would think they’re the two people who would do most of the talking but then Eddie and Maddie would split a bottle of wine together and suddenly their husbands won’t be able to get a word in edgeways

my personal headcanon is that when eddie and buck said goodbye and eddie drove away he drove until he was sure buck didnt follow him or anything not like he would (eddie secretly very quietly hoped). he parked somewhere and just sobbed. cried and cried and cried because what do you mean he has to leave behind his life, his home he made these last 7 years where he finally found himself after being lost and chris being the only thing that mattered for so long? how is that fair? but yeah i do believe eddie violently cried and yelled and screamed and wailed because life has never been fair to eddie

Something about emotionally repressed Eddie Diaz being so upset that his partner just won’t grieve with him is making me emotional
Season 2 Eddie Diaz would not have cared about being shut out of someone else’s hurt and anger

au that lives in my head (that's 99% just for buck to know chris as a baby) where buck and eddie come to la and meet earlier. what if we met at the most miserable time of our lives but it worked.......
