WHAT CAN WE DO ?
Every living organism, from the smallest fish to the largest whale in oceanic waters all over the earth is impacted by the pollution caused by plastic. The eco-system there is gradually being destroyed as we depend on the sea for food, for modes of transport and for tourism.
Unless we change how we live our lives, and reduce plastic consumption starting from us as individuals, the oceans will deteriorate beyond recovery. We need to start doing that now.
Clean Up After Yourself
There are some obvious things that we can do. Wherever we go, always take with you or throw into the bin anything that you bring there. This applies to parks, beaches, walking/hiking, road trips, etc. And if you notice other people’s litter lying around, just pick it up and dispose of it properly as well.
Participate in events such as clean-up Australia day, and you will both encourage and be encouraged by others who are also trying to achieve the same.
Recycle
To reduce the amount of general waste, whatever you’re about to throw away that can be recycled, please do so. Most consumable packaging have symbols on them advising whether they can be recycled, and you can play your part in that whether you are outside or at home by putting the appropriate items into the recycling bins that you see.
When You Can: Just Say No
Whilst it is very difficult to go completely plastic free, we know that it isn’t always a must or necessary to use plastic. Buying groceries in bulk using boxes (e.g. from Costco), not using plastic straws or saying no to “Do you need a bag?” at the checkout counter are all ways that you can “just say no”.
Use Eco-friendly Products
By using products that are eco-friendly, such as reusable bags as promoted by the other major supermarket retailers, and choosing paper options over plastic ones in everyday use can all contribute towards make a difference. Any items that have been labelled as made from recycled or recyclable material are examples of eco-friendly options that you can take.

Which Packaging Materials Are Environmentally Friendly?
There are many different packaging options that can be eco-friendly. Here’s a run-down of some of the most popular:
Paper
Glass
Cardboard
Some Plastics
Plant Starch Material (PSM)
As mentioned earlier, there are different categories of green packaging. Some items may be eco-friendly because they can be recycled or reused, others may naturally decompose.
Which packaging materials are biodegradable?
Biodegradable materials can be used for protective packaging, and disposal is less of an issue because these materials eventually return to the environment they came from. These include:
Paper – a great option because it is recyclable, reusable and biodegradable. Often the paper we see used for packaging has already been created using a high percentage of recycled paper.
Cardboard – just like paper, cardboard can be used again or recycled, and is biodegradable as long as it isn’t laminated.
Corn Starch – protective ‘peanuts’ can be made from corn starch or plant starch material (PSM). These fillers can be used instead of plastic bubble wrap or polystyrene packing, and when they’re finished with, this type of packaging fully biodegrades.
Biodegradable Plastic – now often used for plastic bags & some envelope windows, this plastic begins to decompose when exposed to sunlight.
Which packaging materials are recyclable?
Some packaging materials can be recycled, and whilst this is beneficial to the environment, it still requires an investment of energy to salvage the raw material. Recyclable packaging materials include:
Paper
Cardboard
Glass
Some Plastics
Some Metals

What Is Eco Friendly Packaging?
“Eco-friendly packaging is easily recycled, and is safe for individuals and the environment. It makes use of renewable energy, and uses as much renewable or recycled materials as possible.”
It is also known as green packaging, or sustainable packaging. Eco packaging causes less damage to the environment than other types of packaging due to falling in to one of 3 possible categories:
It can be reused
It can be recycled
It’s biodegradable
Some eco packaging items can be used again in their original form, others are made of materials that can be recycled and made into something else and others simply decompose in an environmentally friendly way.

We have a good way to fight with plastic pollution. All this small step we take to reduce plastic consumption is a big step in proteching the Earth and the future of valuable wildlife.
If you want to fight with the plastic pollution, below are few ways to make an impact.
1. Educate your team - make sure everyone in your workplace and visitors know what can and can not be recycled when it comes to plastic and encourage the use of reusables with a small in house campain about recycling, you can spread awareness that can have a huge impact in your workplace and beyond.
2. Choose Eco friendly materials instead - there are actually tons of solutions out there that are Eco friendly and even those that do something good for the planted.
3. Share that with the whole world - if you are making changes to benefit the plan, make sure to share that with the world.
4. Clean up - nothing spreads awareness and promotes change more than letting people find and pick up plastic waste.
5. Buy in bulk - you are not only reducing the packing materials, but you also resource transport requests with delivery.

Plastic is one of the most common objects in our lives.
In fact, plastic has existed for a short time in 60 to 70 years, but it has changed everything from packaging to product design till retail.
One of the biggest advantages of plastic is that is designed to last. This blessing is like a curse because all the plastics made so far still exist in some form.
Australia produces nearly 3 Million tons of plastic a year, less than 12% of which is recycled. Up to 130,000 tons of plastic are polluting the sea every year. Considering each person produces (or uses) roughly 130 Kg of plastic, it means that about 30 Kg of each person’s waste could end up in the ocean.
Not Only could it end up in the ocean, but it can take hundreds of years to break down - if at all.

HOW ARE WE ABLE TO FIX OR FIND A SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM?
-Campaign for eco-friendly plastic : People can get more information about eco-friendly plastic and it also makes people aware of how plastics affect to environment. + Social media
-Make a ‘PLASTIC DAY’ : On this day, People try to not to use plastic at all so it makes them aware of how much they have used the plastic in their daily lives.  + Social media
-Redeeming system : Plastic factory have to bring back a certain amount of plastic waste they have created.
-Make a law that about stopping the sales of packing in vinyl or styrofoam : Use eco-friendly materials instead of using styrofoam.
-If styrofoam is used the company, must indicate this product has used not eco-friendly materials : customers can choose to contribute to the better world.

PACIFIC GYRE (NPG) / NORTH PACIFIC SUBTROPICAL GYRE (NPSG)
We use in everyday life is cheap and easy to make plastic products. Strong and merit of being light but not broken down or semi permanent it. When it was not collected by waste recycling and neglected because is a serious problem. In particular, they are light and float in the water so they are drifted down to the sea through torrential rains or floods during the rainy season and they settle on a remote island’s seashore and fall into small pieces while floating the Pacific Ocean before eventually arriving on the garbage island.
The huge pile of rubbish, also known as Pacific garbage swirl Pacific Trash Vortex is roughly the reflux of marine waste scattered between Hawaii and California between 135′ to 155′ in the North Pacific and 35′ to 42′ in the North. Garbage piles spread widely to adjacent areas and depending on the density of the plastic defining the contaminated area. There is a significant deviation.

Period of decomposition of marine waste
A pile of garbage was caught in the North Pacific Ring of North Pacific Gyre with very high density floating plastics and chemical sludge and suspended solids such as trees. Despite its size and density, garbage dumps are not seen in satellite imagery, as they are mixed into the water floors of the upper reaches of the sea more than they are shown above surface.
Plastics drift along the ocean currents, splinting into much smaller polymers, submerged beneath the surface and mixed like plastic porridge. Nevertheless, the amount of plastic fragments in the upper reaches of the sea is very high compared to the average, so they are defined as piles of garbage.

WHY PLASTIC IS BAD?
Humans are producing over 18 billion tons of plastic each year, which normally ends up in the oceans killing a massive percentage of the ocean’s wildlife. The ocean conservancy, Plastic has been found inside more than 60% of all seabirds and 100% of sea turtles. The end of the cycle humans end up consuming plastic which causes life threatening effects.
There are only 14% of recyclable plastics. Most plastics are disposed of after use. The rest of the un-recycled plastic waste is buried, incinerated, and some of it flows into the sea.

WHAT IS PLASTIC?
Plastic is made out of synthetic chemicals that is harmful to the environment. All plastic are polymers that’s made up of long chains of repeating molecules, this makes plastic so incredibly useful. We are able to shaped and molded to whatever. we want it to be just using heat when it cools down it holds its shape.

How do you foresee design thinking becoming part of your own design practice?
As a student, user and a designer who has understood how does the “design thinking” develops the product, I strongly believe it’s a necessary tool that all designers should use for their product. It helps the creator to design something lasting that will stand for future, improve the quality of the product by solving the problems. The diamond methods can bring a new product that was needed in the society by researching what can make the product thoroughly perfect, applying the feedback from the users.

What are the key principle and methods used in this field of practice?
The key principle can be used in this field of practice in the “Double Diamond method”. Firstly it “discover”the problem such as researches about the user, how it has been done before, what feedback received then, how can it be developed? What new technologies can help? How does the project can be innovating? And then process to the “define” step, to figure out what choice will be the best decision to solve the problem. Through this time, gaining feedback and start diverging again as process to the next step which is the “develop”. This the step of “develop”, brings up the concept about the product and improving with the research found in the previous “discover” step. Then comes to the step of “deliver” which is mainly concerning about creating types and testing theories. It’s a step to receive the feedback from the users after trying to product. In the step it helps the product to develop further since feedback gives understanding about the products with idea what needs to be developed and fixed before the product released permanently.
Moreover, another method “Journey Mapping” is used in this field of practise. Before-During-After.
Before: is the thinking process and activity to think what happened before something happened?
During: activity such as what did the person do during the activity? And after, it’s a conclusion that what happened after the person did the activity.

What is the intent of design thinking?
The intent of design thinking is created to solve the problems. This gives help to organisation or companies to form strategies in their businesses.
According to Roger Mortins, the design thinking begins with integrative thinking and that is the ability to exploit opposing ideas and opposing strains to create new solutions. Then by this the new solution can be created not only solving the certain current problems.
This is not only to solve problems but creating new solutions.
Furthermore, according to Tim Brown, he said “Balancing desirability is what humans need, with technical feasibility and economic viability.” Which means not only to solve problem temporarily but solving the problem permanently. In order to solve the problem permanently, there are some aspects we must to consider which are the customers who will own the product, interact with product, future, what technology might be available, longevity of the product and who the user will think about the product in 10 years.

https://www.fodors.com/news/travel-quote-of-the-week-on-which-road-to-take-7087
Which fork in the road would you take - craft or future? Why?
I would take the method of craft however, the traditional way of design which is a craft and the innovation of design which indicate for future, can be worked together. The Craft design improves the product to become historical side of design when future helps the product to have new innovative ideas of design which is unique to be launched.
Craft design basically leads the world have the beauty products includes uniqueness. It’s not only talking about the basic object that gives colour beauty but it also has a power to bring up the meaningful statement.
Through combing the craft design with philosophy, world issues, literature, society issues, political issues in the world; it can reveal the powerful quote.
