a new love. 1 (obashino story)

Obanai loved Mitsuri a lot. Every hashira knew, except for Giyu and Mitsuri herself. Mitsuri was oblivious to Obanai's feelings since Obanai never opened up his feelings towards her.

Obanai didn't feel the need to do such a thing. He felt as if he wasn't worthy enough to confess to someone who might've not loved someone as filthy as him. To him. Mitsuri was a goddess, an angel sent from above, someone who has an aura equivalent to a warm ray of sunshine. He had a dream where cherry blossom flower petals were falling all around her as she spoke in a shy mannered and lovely voice confessing that she shares the same feelings every night .

Obanai snapped out of his dream.

He had the same dream again. The dream where Mitsuri and him love each other and confess to one another under the bright sky through a path of cherry blossom trees. He knew that would never happen, even if he wished hard enough. Why may you ask?

She's dating Tomioka Giyu, the person he hated in the whole entire world. He still couldn't believe his eyes that one day.

The day when he came to hang out with Mitsuri, Mitsuri didn't know that he was coming because Obanai wanted to surprise her since he was close by. As he got there, he heard giggling noises coming from her engawa. He decided to peek around there since he was a bit concerned. Then he saw Mitsuri and Giyu as they were the ones making the sounds, mostly Mitsuri.

"I'm so excited to tell everyone!", Mitsuri excitedly. Tell everyone what, Obanai thought. "Yeah," Giyu said with his usual blank expression. Obanai is still confused as to what's happening right now. As Obanai was still in his thoughts, the non-announced couple gave each other a light peck on the lips. Obanai stopped his thoughts to think about what he just saw. He did not just see what he thought he had seen. He ran away at that moment as his eyes became blurry from the tears that formed from the bridges of his eye, the couple not noticing him running off with loud thumps of his feet on the ground. He felt jealousy taking him over him, but it was his fault for not letting his feelings be known to Mitsuri. So why did he feel this way?

A week after the incident, Mitsuri had announced her and Giyu's relationship, saying they had feelings for each other for a very long time. Explaining how they fell in love with lots of detail. Every other hashira except Shinobu was surprised that those 2 complete opposites are dating each other. Obanai just wanted to tear his ears off because he couldn't stand the constant talk about their relationship, Shinobu wanted to do the same.

Shinobu has loved Giyu, despite teasing him on the daily. Despite Shinobu's constant teasing, she found Giyu to be weirdly attractive at some point. His raven black hair, his mismatched haori, his deep blue ocean eyes, and his blank expression he wore everyday. Since then, she decided to tone it down on the teasing because she genuinely wanted to get close to him.

Though it was fun teasing him to an extent, she really cared for him a lot more than he could think. She teased him saying "This is why you have no friends, Tomioka-san," and "You need to socialize more if you want to have friends, Tomioka-san." She did all that just to make him prove her wrong, not just for the fun of teasing. She felt like she was helping Giyu, but then again she could be making him feel some other way. She wondered if she was ever going too far with her remarks, since Giyu started to hang out with Shinobu less than usual.

She kept wondering why Giyu wouldn't hang out with her. She asked Obanai, out of all the people. Why should he care about what Giyu was doing anyways? Obanai also wondered why Mitsuri and him were getting distant. Then that day, he figured out why. Shinobu saw Obanai looking distressed so she asked him what was wrong. Obanai hesitates before telling her about what happened. A little bit of anger seeped into her smile, but tried to shrug it off.

Obanai left as soon as Mitsuri started going into detail about her and Giyu's relationship. Shinobu did the same, the other hashira and Mitsuri taking no mind into them. That day, they both went back home and sobbed themselves to sleep, forgetting everything else in the world.

It has been 4 months since Giyu and Mitsuri started dating, and Obanai & Shinobu have not gotten over it one bit.

Once Obanai got up from the dream, he was greeted by a certain scaly and slithery friend of his with a nudge on his cheek. "Hey Kabu.", Obanai said as he greeted Kaburamaru. He got up to go in his closet to grab and change into his uniform and haori, to go take a walk. He did this often, since he has been getting those dreams. Once he got ready, he went outside in the rain.

Shinobu had the same dream, instead of Mitsuri it was Giyu who was in it. She woke up on the verge of tears thinking, What did I do wrong?, Was I a bit harsh on him to cause him to stop hanging out with me?, Why am I so jealous?, and many other thoughts corrupted her head. Then all left at once. She kept hyperventilating as she was getting ready to go out, putting on her uniform and haori. As she was leaving, she tried to not make much noise to wake up Kanao and the others.

They both left their homes to go take a walk out in the rain, little did they know they would meet each other there.
