Huh. File that under things Peter Parker had never really thought about ever in his life- which was an ever-growing list since he'd opened himself back up to the world and started making more time for non-superhero stuff. Somewhere in his brain he'd just always assumed he'd be bouncing from one semi-crummy apartment to the next. And as much as he too hoped it would be in the very distant future... MJ had a point (as she often did).

"Well..." he started, not jumping on the idea but not loving it either. "I guess a lot of 'em either don't know me at all or haven't seen me much since college..."

"So, good news, Aunt May signed us up to help with the dunk tank at the block party!" MJ grinned, clapping her hands together as if determined to drown out any sound of protest Peter might make. "Before you say no they were short handed and we're going to get some SERIOUS brownie points with her for stepping in. And ... well, I was thinking ... maybe these are going to be OUR neighbors someday. Far, far in the future but ... it'd be nice, if we ever took over the house from her, to already have good relationships with the people on the block. Don't you agree?"

"Coffee would be amazing actually- if it's no bother," he smiled- the chill of really good air conditioning definitely making him feel a bit cold after how awfully humid it'd been outside. Of course his metabolism meant all but the most copious amounts of highly-caffeinated coffee didn't do much (if anything) to keep him awake. It also meant that he was always prepared with a snack or two or three- like the energy bar he'd already fished out of his (thankfully more waterproof) backpack. "Oh, I'm ok on the soup though- thanks."

Though he was doing his best not to be nosy (or ask too much of his very kind host), Peter couldn't help but look around a bit as they made their way towards the kitchen. The very large kitchen that would've fit his old apartment in it several times over- not to mention the rest of the house. He really was going to have to ask MJ if she'd ever heard of this guy.

"Mostly I just want to make sure my girlfriend knows I'm alright. She worries about me, I worry about her- we do our best not to do too much to give the other reasons to worry." Something that was a little difficult when one was a (currently on break) super hero and the other was an amazingly talented investigative journalist, but still. It'd caused a breakup once. He'd do all he could to be better about it now.

"I guess it's just too bad that Sable gifted her a motorcycle and not a car," Peter chuckled (mostly to himself), carefully burying his phone in the rice.

"You don't have to apologize. Happy to help out." He says, moving the joystick on his armrest to steer the chair down the hall. "Do you want some tea or coffee? I'm sure that would help you warm up some."

The mansion is massive, surrounded by courtyards, sports fields and pastures for the horses. And down below? Labs, more labs, the Black Bird and the entrance to Cerebro. One could say it isn't your usual private school.

"You're welcome. Hopefully we can get you on your way soon enough, til then you're welcome to stay over." More than enough rooms and resources. "I've got some fresh soup that can be warmed up too if you're hungry?"

When they get to the kitchen, Charles goes to grab a bowl, pouring some rice into it before handing it over to Peter. "Either way it might be best to head back out tomorrow, not tonight. The rain isn't going to stop until morning and it's getting late."

🕸looks like sag has reached a tentative deal with the video game companies which i hope 1: means all the protections against ai nonsense that the actors were looking for and 2: also means news for wolverine will be incoming since they'll be able to finish the game and then also news for sm3 🥳

"Completely fair," Peter smiled- the incredible view of the city from this high up completely ignored so he could look at her. He knew MJ was serious- and though she'd said she wasn't mad at him he knew there still had to be some hurt from him keeping this secret for nearly six months. Not that he really meant to but... it was a lot to take in. A lot to figure out. And the fact that MJ had his codename figured out within seconds of seeing his suit and finding out how he'd gotten his powers told him that he should've said something much, much sooner.

"For what it's worth, I have generally been better at avoiding stuff like this," he said, gesturing at his black eye. "It's hard to explain but sometimes I feel like I can tell where danger is coming from... if that makes sense? I know it sounds weird but..." Peter just shrugged. "I don't know. I just... I just know that if I can do something to make this city safer and a better place for May and Richard then I should. I want to. And if what Tony Stark said is true and... and I think there's a part of me that knows it is..." Peter trailed off with a chuckle.

"Mostly I can't help but think about how weird it would've been for this to happen while I was still in high school."

Do I have a mental picture of Insom MJ buying Peter Spider-Man ears at a Disney park? Absolutely.
