It wouldn't be a signature Lady Cels cosplay if I didn't overthink some of the details! For the bodice and skirt, I'm making goldwork hearts to applique on. Slowly.
Since the goal is for Queen of Hearts to be a competition piece, it means I'm making everything. Including my prop! I modeled this in Fusion360, and printed it with interlocking pieces that slot in along a wooden dowel for durability. Printing this in Polymaker CosPLA for easy sanding, especially with all the little recessed areas. I also went back in with some resin coating for the areas I just couldn't sand.
(I may have devoted a whole chunk in one of my recent classes on how to make slotted parts).
Technically, I'm breaking ground on the shirt/bodice, the first costume piece that's actually going to be visible. Starting off with doing the beadwork pieces for the bodice.

And we have a corset! My lacing is too short for me, so ordered some longer laces. I also still have to go back and floss all the bones, but I'm having trouble deciding on a pattern.
Little more of my Leafeon! I wasn't super happy with the look of this costume, it's not a silhouette I like (Pencil skirts are my bane) and the shoes were murder on my feet. But it was a fun challenge and I was glad to be part of such an amazing group.
Big leap in progress now! I got the hip pieces on and the rest of the boning channels/boning. So it's time to bind the tops!
Since I'm applying bias tape the proper way, I'll be finishing the inside by hand. I've broken too many needles hitting an unexpected bone to do machine.
Was so thrilled to be invited back to this amazing group at Katsucon. I was surrounded by such amazing cosplayers (even if it wasn't for super long, darn you uncomfortable costumes!).

This ended up being a pretty quick build, despite some of my fabric choices fighting me with what I wanted to do. I was a dumb dumb and decided I wanted to line my cloak and the poly satin I tried to stash bust with was just not doing what I wanted it to do, so I ended up making compromises.
But overall, I'm very happy with the end results! And unlike most of my costumes, she's easy and comfy to wear :D
Toothless was definitely an out there costume for me. I'm not one for spandex and fitted looks. But I ended up having a lot of fun at Katsucon along with my Lightfury Lady Ikari Cosplay !
I got these printed in satin on Spoonflower so I could make more realistic bug wings. I got four printed, two pairs mirrored, so I could make them double sided.
Then it's just attaching them to the first cloak later.
(I got some puckering on the back, but the spot isn't attached to anything so I can go back later and pick it apart to remake)
Had a weird machine hiccup on the back neckline edge, so will have to go remove it and stitch that by hand. Then it's on to the other two layers to come!
Heading up to Boston! I'll be working behind the scenes most of the weekend, but be sure to catch me as Venusaur on Sunday! I'll be running my embellishments panel too, so be sure to stop by!
