My love, my life
Spencer Reid x reader
Summary: As Spencer and the rest of the team headed back to Quantico after a case, his girlfriend waited for him while talking to Garcia. However, a man with a gun could delay the couple's reunion. Will Spencer arrive on time?
The sleek black SUV curved around the corner, Quantico’s familiar skyline coming into view. Spencer Reid sat in the passenger seat, legs jittering, phone pressed to his ear. The sun was dipping behind the clouds, casting the FBI building in a calm before the storm.
“Okay, okay, so Thai or Indian?” came the voice on the other end. Y/n, Spencer's girlfriend, was lounging at Garcia’s neon-lit desk, legs kicked up, the glow of computer monitors illuminating her smile.
She had been away from Spencer for about a week and was already going crazy. So, she decided that instead of waiting for him at home, completely bored, she would wait at his work, since she also missed Garcia.
They all had a complicated case, which kept Spencer away from her birthday dinner. Despite apologizing a thousand times since then — not that it was necessary, Y/n understood the demands of a bau agent's job — the genius promised that as soon as he returned he would make it up to her. And so, they were planning which restaurant they would go to.
“I vote Thai!” Garcia chimed in, half-distracted as her fingers flew over the keyboard. “Extra spicy. Like the way you two look at each other, my little doves.”
Derek Morgan’s laugh echoed from somewhere near Spencer. “Is the genius blushing again?”
Spencer adjusted his scarf and ducked his head, trying and failing to fight off the flush rising to his cheeks. “I'm not. But it’s actually a fascinating physiological response. Blushing is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system. When you're embarrassed or emotionally overwhelmed your body releases adrenaline, which increases your heart rate and dilates your blood vessels. That’s why the face turns red. But here’s the really interesting part — the face and neck have more capillaries than most other parts of the body, which is why it’s so visible."
"We get it, Spencer." JJ laughed in amusement. She was glad that Spencer found Y/n as he has been happier, and it was so cute to hear him talk about her all the time. He had heart eyes whenever he thought about his perfect girlfriend.
Spencer shrugged, but the little smile that formed on his lips gave him away. “I’m five minutes out.”
“Five minutes is too long.” Y/N teased. “I’m starving. Might chew on Garcia’s keyboard.”
“Do not touch my baby!” Garcia warned her dramatically.
“I’ll be there soon. Can’t wait to see you.” Spencer laughed softly, fingers tightening around the phone.
But just then, they all heard a thunderous bang. Even through the call the team managed to hear it clearly. A gunshot. Followed by screaming.
Spencer shot upright in his seat, his heart plummeting like a stone. They all stopped breathing, their attention glued to the cell phone that was heavy in Spencer's hand, which was shaking heavily. The line was chaos. Garcia was yelling something, Y/N gasped.
Fear ran through Spencer's veins, he didn't want to think about Y/n, his Y/N, in a dangerous situation. He faced the worst of the world every day, and the last thing he wanted was for his girlfriend to come into contact with the monsters that lurked in the shadows. He had to be with her.
And then there was silence. The call disconnected.
“No. No, no, no,” Spencer muttered, frantically tapping redial. “Pick up. Please pick up.”
Hotch, driving, had already stiffened and pressed harder on the pedal. “What happened? Someone try to contact Quantico.”
“They were shot at. Someone fired a gun. I lost the connection.”
"Nobody answers me, Hotch." JJ informed, also quickly calling members of Quantico. "There's a conference with the President of the United States, so a lot of agents aren't there. And now they'll have to stay with the President.”
"This is planned, Hotch." Emily added.
Hotch’s face hardened, eyes laser-focused on the road. He hit the sirens and floored even more the gas.
Spencer clutched the dashboard, unable to sit still. “We have to get there faster. She was just talking to me, everything was fine. The BAU is supposed to be a safe place—”
"They are going to be fine, pretty boy." Derek tried to reassure him, despite also being filled with panic. This has never happened before, as it was extremely dangerous to threaten a place full of FBI agents.
“We’ll get them”. Hotch promised. “Hold on.”
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
Inside the BAU headquarters, panic surged through the bullpen.
Garcia and Y/N had barely made it from her office to the hallway when a group of armed men burst in through the rear access doors. They fired shots into the air in warning, pushing civilians and agents into the main atrium. One agent tried to draw their weapon and was immediately shot in the leg, collapsing with a yell. The others immediately dropped their guns as it was too risky, as a civilian could easily be hurt.
Y/N had grabbed Garcia’s hand, whispering, “Stay close to me, okay?” Her own body trembled, but they had to be brave until the team could save them.
The ringleader —a man with cold eyes and military posture — paced in front of the growing crowd of FBI employees. “You know what we want,” he snarled. “Files. Not on paper. Not redacted. Everything.”
He turned and raised his weapon — pointing it directly at Y/N, who was still holding Garcia's hand, all of them kneeling on the ground. When the girl realised the attention was on her, she tried to let go of the blonde's hand to not also put her in danger. But to no avail, they knew who Garcia was. They studied them. They prepared the attack.
“You!” he barked at Garcia. “You’re the tech, right? Show me the system. Get me what I want. Or she dies.”
Y/N flinched, but lifted her chin. Garcia clutched her friend’s arm tighter.
“Please...” Garcia stammered, inching toward her desk. “Just give me a second. It’s not that simple. We have encryption layers.”
"Don't lie to me!" he shouted furiously. In a moment of rage, he pointed the gun at an officer, who was calming an elderly couple, and shot him in the chest. He immediately fell to the ground, clutching his chest in pain. Y/n stared in horror at the sight of the bleeding man, her scream of surprise and horror mixing with those of the rest of the hostages. "As you can see, I'm not bluffing. Give us what we need, or your friend dies."
"You’ll get what you want, just... Just don’t hurt her.”
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
Meanwhile, the SUV skidded into the FBI lot. Before the car had fully stopped, Spencer jumped out and bolted for the door, badge in hand. His chest ached, lungs burning, every part of him screaming to find her, to make sure she was okay.
“Security breach confirmed." an agent informed, walking besides the team quickly. The agents were already forming a perimeter, thinking of the best way to enter the building. “Multiple hostiles. Civilians inside.”
Reid’s feet didn’t stop moving, going straight to the operating table where the design of the building was. Hotch assumed the position of leader with SWAT units, immediately barking out orders. From the corner of his eye, he looked at Spencer, who was anxiously looking ahead.
"We'll get her and Garcia, Reid. Focus, I need you to find me an entry."
The genius was already ahead, his brain working through multiple options at an extreme speed. Every second was a second Y/n might be hurt. Or worse. He couldn't think about it, or he would go insane.
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
"What's taking so long?" one of the men in the group asked impatiently. "We're surrounded. Man, what are we doing? What were we thinking?"
"Calm!" the leader ordered. "Everything is fine. Work faster, blondie." he continued to Garcia, who was discreetly doing it on purpose to delay the process.
"I'm sorry… They-they are blocking me. It takes longer."
"While she's doing that, let me help him." Y/n begged, unable to hear the injured agent's painful and increasingly shallow breathing any longer. "He's loosing a lot of blood. If he dies, it'll be worse for you."
"Shut up." the man holding the gun muttered, hitting himself lightly on the head. It was like he couldn't think, nothing was going according to his plan.
"He's going to die if we don't do something! Please!" the girl cried desperately. " At least let someone put pressure on the wound."
"I said shut up, bitch!"
Then, he fired. Y/N didn’t even have time to scream.
Just a sudden, hot burst of pain across her shoulder. She stumbled backward, hand clutching instinctively at the blood already soaking through her jacket. She collapsed on the ground, the breath knocked clean from her lungs.
Garcia screamed, her hands instinctively covered her ears, her mouth open as she looked at her friend's fallen body.
The world seemed to explode around them as the BAU team breached the entrance with a deafening shout. The SWAT team poured into the atrium, with Hotch, Emily, Derek and Spencer right behind them.
There were voices shouting orders, leading the hostages to safety. But Spencer Reid didn't hear any of it. Something inside him snapped when he saw Y/n, his love, his life, on the ground surrounded by a pool of her own blood.
He appeared forward, his gun drawn, eyes already locked on the shooter. He didn't think. He just knew. With a clean pull of the trigger, Spencer fired. The gunman dropped instantly, a clean shot to the chest. Another fell in the ensuing gunfire, and the rest surrendered as SWAT flooded the hall. All of it was a blur.
Spencer, before he even realized what he was doing or what was happening, was already running towards her. He had to get to her.
“Y/N… No, no, no—”
He dropped to his knees beside her, blood already staining the scarf around his neck as he pressed it hard to her shoulder, trying to stop the bleeding. She was conscious, but her face was pale, eyes glassy. It was a strange appearance on Y/n, she always looked healthy, happy. Spencer loved that she blushed as much as he did, or even more, that she looked at the world with a sparkle in her eyes that he no longer had. But hers was enough for both of them. She made his world colorful.
“I got you, I got you, just stay with me, baby.” he whispered with a small smile, trying to reassure his girlfriend instead of showing all the fear he was feeling. His hands were shaking. He was shaking. He couldn't breathe. "I need medics over here!"
A shaking hand held Spencer's wrist, who was carefully caressing Y/n's cheek, at the same time wiping away the blood that had splattered on her skin. Just that small movement took immense effort on the girl's part, who licked her lips before speaking, "I'm okay, baby. That agent… He was shot. Is he alive?"
"What?" Spencer asked disoriented. Were there at least other people in the room? All his attention was on her. Hesitantly, he quickly raised his head to look at the person in question and returned his focus to Y/n's beautiful eyes. "He's fine. I'm worried about you. You need to go to the hospital."
“I tried to help him…”
“Just don’t close your eyes, please.” His voice broke. “I can’t do this without you. I can’t breathe without you. I love you. Do you hear me? I love you so much.”
“I’m here,” she whispered, barely audible. “Don’t cry…”
He leaned forward, pressing his forehead to hers, voice raw and trembling. “You are everything to me. I love you so much.”
“I’m not going anywhere. I love you, Spencer. At least I can now understand the pain you also went through. It truly hurts like a bitch.”
“I never wanted you to be in this kind of pain.”
“I’m okay.” she breathed.
When paramedics finally reached them, Spencer refused to move. They asked him to give them space. He didn't. He would never leave her side again.
They told him she needed clean bandages and oxygen. He nodded, but stayed glued to her side, holding her free hand like a lifeline, watching every single move they made. His mind was cataloging everything — angle of the shot, blood loss rate, respiratory rate, risk of nerve damage, but his mind was screaming one thing: don't let them take her away from me.
She was the light that pulled him back from his darkness. The calm in his storm. The one thing that made the nightmares quieter, the cases bearable, the only reason worth living for. Without her, being alive meant nothing.
Spencer refused to let go of her hand, watching like a hawk every movement the paramedics made. “Don’t touch her like that! She’s hurt. Just tell me what you’re doing!"
Y/n, not enjoying seeing Spencer so stressed, especially because of her, tried to speak, but it was proving to be a hard task. "Spencer..."
"Leave the mask on, my love, you need the oxygen. Relax, I'm right here.”
“We need to stop the bleeding and prepare her for transport.” one EMT said calmly. “Sir, you are in the way.”
“I’m not leaving her!” Spencer shouted, more frantic than he had ever been. But his tone left no arguments. “I'm going in the ambulance."
Hotch appeared at his side, giving him a nod of understanding. “We’ll meet you there.”
As they loaded her onto the gurney, Spencer walked beside it, never releasing her hand, eyes flickering with fear, desperation, and something deeper than both. Love. A kind of love he never felt before. It was so strong, so powerful.
He sat beside Y/n while the paramedic checked her vitals.
“I’ve faced killers, bombs, cult leaders… things that should keep me up at night,” he said quietly. “But nothing has ever scared me like seeing you fall. I couldn’t think. I couldn’t breathe. It felt like my heart stopped. Because the thought of losing you… it’s not something I can survive.”
Tears welled in her eyes.
“You’re my person, Y/N. You’re the one I dream about when I can't sleep and the one I search for in every crowded room. I can solve a thousand puzzles a day, but none of it matters if I can’t come home to you.” He brushed his thumb across her knuckles, voice breaking.
“You did come. You saved me.”
He leaned forward, pressing his forehead gently to hers. Spencer pressed sweet kissed around her face. Her eyes, her nose, her cheeks, and finally her lips.
“No.” he whispered, eyes closing, savoring every moment with her. “You saved me. You have, every day since I met you.”
Silence settled around them like a soft blanket. Spencer could finally relax while hearing the quiet rhythm of her breathing and the steady hum of machines. It was peaceful. She was alive.
And in that quiet, Spencer made a silent vow. He would never take a single second with her for granted again.
Because now he knew, without her, there was no him.

Jasper Hale x original character
Summary: When a new girl arrives at Forks, she seems to catch Jasper Hale's attention. However, he and his family are hiding a secret. What they don't know is that Evelyn has a secret of her own
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7 | Chapter 8
Evelyn and Jasper were snuggled in bed, enjoying each other's company, feeling an even stronger bond between them. The girl's head was resting on the vampire's strong chest, her fingernail running across his skin in a circular motion. In turn, Jasper had one hand on Eve's waist, ensuring she was as close to him as possible, and the other behind her head, stroking her blonde hair.
"Are you okay? I didn't hurt you, did I?" Evelyn lifted her head, positioning herself so she could look into her boyfriend's amber eyes. Her expression softened even further as she realized his concern for her.
"No, Jasper, you were the perfect gentleman. I loved every moment. I promise, love." Eve reinforced her words with a chaste kiss on his lips.
"You are perfect."
Evelyn took a deep breath, savoring the moment. Every moment with Jasper had been special, but after this act of love, the bond between them was stronger. She had never felt anything like it, and she realized that this was what she had wanted all her life. To be loved and to love someone. There was nothing more beautiful in this life, and that was all I needed. Not the adrenaline of hunting monsters, not the adrenaline of the field always in training and competitions. This. A calm life with her soulmate would always be more than enough.
However, no calm moment in supernatural life lasted for long. The couple heard the door to the house open and followed the loud voices of the other Cullens. They had left to give the two some privacy, and so they went to the supermarket to make lunch for Evelyn and Bella.
"Oh my god, they're here! Get up!" Evelyn exclaimed, trying to get up from the bed but being pulled back to it by Jasper.
"We have time, darling. I want to feel you more time. They won't come in here, don't worry." the vampire murmured, burying his face in the demigod's neck and inhaling her soothing scent. However, he still pulled the sheets closer to them, covering Evelyn's entire naked body. That vision was reserved for him alone.
Downstairs, Emmett's laughter echoed off the walls. Evelyn looked terrified at her boyfriend who had too much amusement in his eyes for her liking. "I'm going to kill you, Hale. Stop finding this funny!"
"Whatever you say. Now, five more minutes."
"Five minutes only." the blonde agreed, shooting Jasper a warning look. But the vampire, enjoying the situation, brought their faces closer and ran a teasing hand down the girl's leg until it stopped on her hip. "What are you doing?"
"Nothing, my love. Why?" he smirked. If Evelyn wasn't feeling so hot from his touch, she would have wiped the smirk off his face by now. But he preferred to feel Jasper's hands on his skin. "Do you want me to do something?"
"Jas, your family—"
"I've been hearing them for decades. Believe me, we've learned to distract ourselves and not listen to anything." Jasper assured Evelyn, starting to leave small kisses on her neck. "Please, just let me love you."
Evelyn was so focused on the vampire's kisses that she didn't even think twice about agreeing with what he said. She would say yes to whatever he wanted as long as he kept his lips brushing all over her body.
"I hate you, Jasper Hale."
"Let me change your mind." he whispered, and slid down the bed until his face was between her legs. The demigod looked into his golden eyes and let her head fall back onto the pillow, placing a hand over her mouth to muffle any noise she might make.
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
Edward was introducing Bella to Carlisle and Esme while Rosalie, Emmett, Alice and Lucas were in the kitchen. Everything was going relatively well, until one small detail — Bella having already eaten — sent Rosalie over the edge. Immediately, the atmosphere became more tense, the vampires warning Bella of what could happen since she was human.
"No, she should know." Rosalie snapped. "The entire family will be implicated if this ends badly."
"Badly as in… I would become the meal." Bella said akwardly. All the vampires couldn't help but laugh a little when they heard his words, while Edward sighed at his family's embarrassing behavior.
Meanwhile, upstairs, Evelyn was frantically searching for her shirt while Jasper watched her in bed, one arm behind her head. His eyes roamed over the blonde's form, something she noticed.
"You're crazy! Get up and help me find my shirt." Evelyn chuckled, it was impossible to pretend she was angry. She was on cloud nine, she had never felt so happy. They already regretted promising Edward that they would be there to help Bella. "We have to meet Bella."
"We already know her. I say we stay in bed." Jasper proposed. Evelyn ignored him, giving a small cry of victory when she saw her shirt in the corner of the room. She quickly dressed herself and opened the door.
"I'm going down there." she warned. As expected, Jasper huffed but got dressed using his vampire speed and in an instant was beside her ready.
The two went down the stairs, Evelyn taking the opportunity to fix her hair and not give away what she and Jasper were doing ten minutes ago. The vampire followed behind her, his expression now pained as he took in Bella's intoxicating scent and his siblings' hungry feelings.
"Hi, Bella! Sorry we're late!" the demigod greeted, ignoring the wink Rosalie sent her and Alice's huge smile.
"Nice hickey, Eve." Emmett mocked, hissing as Rosalie smacked his arm with a glare. The girl's blue eyes widened almost comically, quickly covering her neck with her hair.
"Our little Eve isn't so little anymore." Lucas joined the teasing.
"Jas, stop them." Evelyn whined to her boyfriend, her cheeks completely red. Jasper managed a small smile, but his muscles were still tense from the presence of the human so close to him.
"You won't hurt her, Jasper." Alice assured the texan, having already seen what was going to happen the rest of lunch. The vampire nodded, but still his eyes were fixed on the wall, only calmed a little by Evelyn's hand on his arm.
An awkward silence settled over the room, something unusual for Evelyn. Normally, whenever she went to the Cullens' house, they were relaxed and fun. Now, they were not even at ease in their own home.
Bella seemed almost uncomfortable knowing that Evelyn and Jasper had just had sex, as Edward explained to her how dangerous it was for them to touch a human, as they could easily lose control of their strength.
"Sorry, Jasper is our new vegetarian. It's a little difficult for him." Carlisle explained to Bella, who was trying not to show her fear.
"But he's doing great! We're all so proud." the demigod added, squeezing her boyfriend's arm lovingly. Jasper didn't know how he had found someone as perfect as Evelyn. The rest of the family also cracked a smile at Eve's encouragement.
"It's a pleasure to meet you." Jasper clenched his jaw, trying his best to just focus on the scent of his soulmate.
"How—" the human stammered, her eyes flickering between Jasper, who looked to be in enormous pain, and Evelyn. "How can you be fine around her, and not around me? You're also a human, right?"
The clan looked at each other, not knowing what to say. Rosalie's glare intensified and finally Bella took a step back, crashing into Edward's chest. How dare the human come to their house, the only place where they didn't have to hide and still ask questions that didn't concern them. To Rosalie, that was disrespectful and that was why a human should never get involved with them.
"It's because I'm his mate. My scent calms him. But I'm human, just like you. My relationship with them is different than yours Bella... I was already aware of the supernatural." Evelyn tried to explain, understanding the brunette's curiosity and confusion. However, she was human and could not trust him with her secret. It was enough to know about the Cullens.
Beside Bella, Edward looked completely mortified by what was happening. He just wanted to pretend he was human and was introducing his girlfriend to his family, but instead he had her more and more afraid of what Jasper and Rosalie were going to do to him.
"Alright, I'll give you a tour of the rest of the house."
The couple left the kitchen, not before Edward sent them a look, warning them to behave. Once they were out of sight, Alice jumped a little while Lucas admired her happiness.
"They are so cute!"
"They are. I think it went well." Esme agreed, looking over her shoulder at Carlisle who had his arms around the woman. "Bella is a nice girl."
"So, what did you cook? Can I have some?" Evelyn asked, her stomach making a small noise almost to show her hunger. "I'm starving."
"I'm sure you are, after all those activities." Emmett laughed, causing Evelyn to immediately hide her face in Jasper's chest. The rest of the family laughed, despite the look Jasper sent them. He didn't want the Aphrodite's daughter to be uncomfortable.
"Behave, children." Carlisle warned before he and Esme left the kitchen, heading to the clan leader's office.
"Now mom and dad will do the activities." Lucas made a disgusted face just thinking about it.
"Stop." the blond warned, leaving a small kiss on Eve's hair. "Me, Emmett and Lucas are going hunting. I'll be back soon, okay?"
"Yes, go ahead. We girls have a lot to talk about while Evelyn eats lunch." Alice declared, pulling Evelyn away from Jasper and towards the kitchen stools, sitting down across from the demigod, while Rosalie took the seat beside her.
Evelyn looked at them with wide eyes, trying to get Jasper to help her out of that situation but he was already being dragged out of the house by his brothers. The blonde rolled her eyes at the two vampires, but agreed. "Fine, but bring me food first."

Jasper, Lucas, and Emmett made their way downstairs, already discussing their hunting plans. Jasper adjusted the sleeves of his shirt, while Lucas listened to Emmett's enthusiastic rant about tracking down the biggest bear he could find.
“I’m just saying,” Emmett smirked, “last time, I got the real prize. You two were just chasing dears.”
Jasper rolled his eyes. “You mean the one you wrestled for twenty minutes just to show off?”
Lucas laughed. “Sounds about right.”
As they reached the bottom of the stairs, however, they came to an abrupt halt. Seated in the living room, sprawled across the couch and floor, were Alice, Rosalie, and Evelyn. Each had a thick, charcoal black colored face mask smeared across their porcelain skin.
“What the…” Emmett called, clearly trying not to laugh. “What is this?”
“A self-care night,” Rosalie hummed, crossing one leg over the other. Her blonde hair was tied in a perfect bun. “Not everything has to be about hunting and wrestling bears, you know.”
Lucas cocked his head at Alice, amused. “You do realize you’re a vampire, right? Your skin is already flawless. And very beautiful.”
Alice huffed, waving a hand dismissively. “That’s not the point! It’s about the experience.”
Evelyn pouted dramatically, looking at Jasper. “And you are leaving us. Without even a goodbye kiss.”
Jasper chuckled, stepping forward. “I would, darlin’, but I’d rather not get a mouthful of… whatever that is.”
“It’s a charcoal detox mask." she huffed. "I won’t forget this act of betrayal.”
Meanwhile, Emmett threw his hands up, as Rosalie said exactly the opposite of the demigod. “Oh, come on, babe. What kind of husband would I be if I didn’t kiss you goodbye?”
“The kind that doesn’t want a face full of exfoliant.”
Lucas leaned against the wall, grinning. “So you tell me you’ll be offended if I don’t kiss you, but you’ll also be offended if I get face mask all over me?”
"That's correct!" Alice smiled sweetly, supporting her sisters.
The three men exchanged looks, clearly confused. Jasper's eyes sparkled with amusement, Evelyn was completely at ease with his family and nothing could make him happier. She no longer showed her shy side, only when she received a lot of attention and of course, whenever the vampire complimented her. He loved the light pink that spread across her cheeks.
Just then, the front door opened, and Esme and Carlisle stepped inside.
“Oh!” Esme clasped her hands together, delighted. “A spa night?”
“Finally, someone who gets it.” Rosalie smirked, also showing off her freshly painted nails. The deep red made Emmett groan, who got odd looks from the other boys.
Carlisle chuckled, slipping off his coat. “And here I thought I was home for a peaceful night.”
Esme walked over to the girls, inspecting their handiwork with approval before glancing at the three men still standing awkwardly in the doorway. “What’s wrong with you three?”
Lucas gestured at the girls. “They won’t let us leave without kissing, but they’re also covered in that weird stuff.”
“Oh, I’m sure you’ll figure it out.” Esme smiled, clearly holding back laughter. "Act like gentlemen and grab the magazines from the kitchen, please."
Jasper sighed in defeat, stepping forward and carefully pressing a kiss to Evelyn’s forehead — where there was no face mask. Lucas followed suit with Alice, while Emmett, ever the dramatic one, grabbed Rosalie’s hand and kissed it gallantly.
“There.” he declared. “Proper goodbye, no damage done. And, lastly, your magazines." He ran to the kitchen using his vampire speed.
With their mission complete, Jasper, Lucas, and Emmett finally made their way to the door.
“Try not to miss us too much!” Emmett called over his shoulder. "Man, they scare me when they gang up on us. I feel like everything we say is the wrong thing." he confessed to Jasper and Lucas as they left the house. The other two nodded in agreement with a chuckle.
As they disappeared into the night, Esme settled onto the couch beside Evelyn. “Alright, ladies, I hope you saved some of that for me.”
"Always." Eve giggled. She began to spread the mask on the vampire’s face, closing her eyes and letting her body relax.
Carlisle sighed in amusement as he headed toward his office. “Just let me know when it’s safe to come back. Also, gather in the living room when Edward arrives. He has something to tell us."
"It's definitely going to be something about Bella. I hate her." the blonde vampire hissed, immediately becoming sullen.
"They went to the forest together today. She knows." Alice confirmed his fears, clearly having had a vision of them. "Edward will talk to us, but they seem to be very close in my vision."
"Well, now there's nothing we can do." Evelyn sighed.
She already knew that it would be difficult for the vampire family, especially Rosalie, to accept this unusual relationship. The demigod agreed that it was dangerous, but who were they to keep Edward from his love? Just like everyone else, he also had the right to do whatever his heart told him to do. For now, she let herself listen to Rosalie complain while Alice and Esme tried to smooth things over.
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
Jasper pulled up to Evelyn’s house just as the morning sun peeked through the trees, casting golden streaks across the quiet street. He barely had time to step out of the car before the front door swung open.
And then — he forgot everything else.
Evelyn stepped outside, her hair catching the light just right, her outfit hugging her in a way that made his already still heart ache. It wasn’t fair. How did she always manage to look so effortlessly stunning?
Jasper straightened, his golden eyes drinking her in as she walked towards him.
"Good morning." she said with a soft smile, giving him a chaste kiss. Jasper, however, pulled her closer, deepening the kiss, his large hands resting on the demigod's hips.
Jasper tilted his head, a slow smirk touching his lips. “Morning, darlin’. You planning on ruining every boy’s concentration today, or is this just for me?”
“I have no idea what you're talking about.” Evelyn rolled her eyes.
Jasper let out a quiet chuckle. "I'll pretend I believe you.”
Before she could protest, he was already at her side, brushing his fingers along her arm as he opened the car door for her. She slides in, and he shuts the door before rounding to the driver’s side.
As he started the car, he flicked a glance toward her. “You do know every guy at school is gonna be lookin’ at you, right?” I'll feel every single emotion of them. They look at you like you are a meal.” his voice was inferior, edged with something darker. “And I don’t like it.”
“Jealous, Major?” Evelyn raised an eye, amused. His smile widened even more at the tremor that ran through the vampire's body upon hearing the nickname.
“You have no idea.”
"It's a good thing I only have eyes for you." Eve whispered, unable to bear Jasper's intense gaze, which should have been focused on the road but wasn't, and shyly looking away. "Did Edward ever talk to you guys?"
After her spa moment with the three Cullenn women, Evelyn ended up going home to give the vampire clan more privacy to discuss the matter regarding Edward and Bella. In addition, she hadn't spent a night alone in a few days, so she decided to take advantage of it by eating a bunch of junk food while watching Disney movies.
"He just said that Bella had discovered our secret and that he was in love with her. Of course, Rosalie immediately started arguing with him and Carlisle tried to mediate. Edward ended up locking himself in his room like a moody teenager." Jasper explained, as he placed his hand on Evelyn's thigh. "You could have stayed there. Your opinion is important to us."
"That's fine, I think it was better this way. Especially because it's a more private matter, and it's already enough that Edward thinks we're all against him. Having the mindset of a seventeen-year-old boy for the rest of your life can't be easy."
After a few minutes, spent in comfortable silence, they arrived at Forks school and Jasper slowed down until he reached the place where he and his entire family normally parked. He had barely pulled into the lot when the emotions hit him like a tidal wave.
Interest. Lust. Envy.
Everywhere, boys were turning their heads, their thoughts clear even before their emotions gave them away. They were looking at Evelyn — his Evelyn.
Jasper clenched his jaw. He could feel it too vividly. The way some admired her beauty, the way others were already trying to catch her attention, the way a few were even wondering if she was really taken — as if she could be convinced otherwise.
Jasper had lived through a century, fought wars, faced monsters—been one himself—but nothing bothered him more than the thought of someone else looking at his girl like this.
A low growl rumbled in his throat. Rosalie, Alice, Emmett and Lucas watched amusedly, just a little away from them. The couple immediately captured the attention of all the students, and it was amusing to see Jasper so protective. Even after months, this never changed.
Before Evelyn could even reach the door, Jasper was already there, opening it for her. He offered his hand, his grip firm as he helped her out, keeping her close.
“Such a gentleman.” she teased.
Jasper smirked, but his voice took on something more possessive as he murmured, “Only for you, darling.”
Evelyn didn't notice the sharp glance he shot toward the group of gawking boys, but they did. Most of them quickly averted their gazes and quickly hurried up to enter the school.
Satisfied, Jasper tucked Evelyn's arm through his and led her toward his siblings, who were looking effortlessly untouchable.
“You two took your time.” Alice teased with a knowing smile.
Jasper just rolled his eyes, but before he could respond, the attention of the entire parking lot shifted.
Edward and Bella had arrived.
Bella, still somewhat hesitant about all the eyes on her, walked beside Edward as he led her to the school entrance stairs. But there was no ignoring the buzz of curiosity and envy from the other students.
Edward wore dark sunglasses and a proud smile on his lips. Poor Bella, on the other hand, looked very uncomfortable with all the eyes on her. To make matters worse, the vampire put an arm around the brunette's shoulders, whispering something in her ear. The rest of the vampires looked at the couple seriously, knowing that this reckless behavior could bring them serious consequences.
Whispers spread through the crowd. How is she with him? I thought she wasn't into dating. She's so lucky. Look at him.
"Well," Emmett began, smirking. "Look how they're the main attraction today."
Jasper chuckled, shaking his head. But as he pulled Evelyn just a little closer to his side, he knew one thing for sure, he was okay with Edward and Bella being the center of attention if it meant Evelyn could have a day in peace without being bothered.
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
"Why do I have to be here while Bella meets you?" Evelyn huffed, sitting cross-legged on Jasper's bed, which he had bought when he met his mate. In turn, Jasper was in front of his bookshelf, looking for his next read.
"Because Edward said that way Bella would be more comfortable. Besides, I want you here." the Hale replied sincerely, turning his attention back to the blonde. She was completely comfortable in his house, in his room, letting herself fall back into the pillows with a sigh.
"Come lie down with me, Jas."
Jasper obeyed immediately, his body going to bed before he could even think about what he was doing. He let himself be snuggled close to the demigod, putting an arm around her as she laid her head on his strong chest. His hands, large and cold, caressed the skin of her arm, enjoying the goosebumps that formed under his touch.
He turned his head to the side, trying to engrave every feature of Evelyn into his mind. Her nose, the small freckles that were scattered across her face, her blue eyes. She was an angel. Coming to this world to make it a better place, condemned to spend her life alongside a monster.
“You’re starring, Jas.” Evelyn murmured, her voice as soft as honey. Like an angel singing. "I love you. I really really love you. I never thought I could feel this happiness, you make me feel like the luckiest person in the world."
"I assure you, my love, I am the lucky one."
Evelyn's heart was stuttering. He was too close now, his golden eyes flickering between hers and her lips. Evelyn's breath hitched as he leaned in, his lips barely brushing hers — just enough to tease, to make her want to close the distance herself. She did.
The first kiss was soft, slow, but filled with that undeniable pull between them. Jasper's hand slid along her waist, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss, his lips moving against hers with an intoxicating tenderness.
Evelyn melted into him, her hands curling into his shirt as her other hand dug into the back of his head, playing with his curls. The vampire kissed her like she was the only thing in the world that mattered — like he’d been waiting forever just to do this.
"Are you sure?" Jasper pulled back a little, even as the blonde's soft, full lips chased his, looking for more. "I don't want to hurt you. I don't know if I can control my strength…"
"You won't hurt me, Jasper." the girl assured, looking into his amber eyes with full trust in him. She didn't feel the slightest bit of fear, all she needed was him. "I trust you. Please."
Without questioning twice, Jasper brought their lips together again, this time with more force, more hunger, as if her lips were the only way to survive. They let their hands explore each other's bodies, small raspy moans coming from both of them. Quickly, Jasper began helping Evelyn take off her shirt, appreciating her body and kissing her skin with tenderness.
They allowed themselves to be consumed by each other, creating an unbreakable bond. Even with all the challenges they would have to overcome with supernatural creatures and even the problems of any mere human, they belonged to each other. An indomitable force, a love that was the most beautiful thing, but also the most dangerous.

The early morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft golden glow over the room. The air was still, quiet, save for the rhythmic sound of Evelyn’s breathing. She was just beginning to wake, her mind still caught between the remnants of a dream and the gentle touch threading through her hair.
Cool, feather-light fingers were running through her hair, tracing absentminded patterns against her scalp. She stirred slightly, sighing as she leaned into the touch, reluctant to leave the comfort of sleep just yet.
“Morning, darlin’.” a familiar, velvety voice drawled above her.
Evelyn’s lips curled into a sleepy smile before she even opened her eyes. “Mmm… Jasper?”
She finally blinked up at him, his golden eyes watching her with an unreadable expression, though his lips held the faintest ghost of a smile. His hand never stopped moving, fingertips brushing against her cheek before returning to her hair.
“You were mumblin’ in your sleep again,” he murmured. “Something about… peach pie?”
The demigod let out a soft laugh, reaching up to place her hand over his. “You’re making that up.”
Jasper chuckled, a deep, soothing sound that made her heart flutter. “Maybe, but I could listen to you talk in your sleep all day. It's cute. I like watchin’ you sleep.”
Evelyn playfully swatted at his arm, though her strength was nothing compared to his. “That’s creepy.” Eve teased, but the warmth in her gaze betrayed her words. "You're turning in Edweirdo. At least I know you are watching me sleep, poor Bella."
However, she knew what he meant. Unlike her, Jasper didn’t need rest, didn’t need to close his eyes and surrender to dreams. Instead, he spent the quiet hours of the night simply being there — watching over her, lost in his own thoughts while she lay curled against him, sometimes reading a book. Emmett tried many times to get him to play videogames with him, but he preferred being next to Evelyn. Hearing her heartbeat, soothing her when she started to have a nightmare.
“You’re too good to me,” she whispered, fingers tracing the sharp line of his jaw. “It’s unfair, really.”
His smile softened, and something tender flickered in his gaze. “I don’t think you realize just how much you do for me, Lyn.”
She tilted her head, waiting for him to continue, and he exhaled, though it wasn’t necessary. His hand cupped her cheek now, his thumb brushing over her lower lip with infinite care, as if she were something delicate, something precious.
“You make me feel human,” he confessed, voice barely above a whisper. “You make all of this—” his other hand gestured vaguely to himself, “—seem less like a curse and more like a blessing.”
Evelyn’s throat tightened, her heart aching at the sincerity in his words. Without thinking, she lifted herself slightly and pressed a kiss to the corner of his lips. “You’re not a curse, Jasper,” she murmured against his skin. “You never were. We have eternity together.”
Jasper let out a shaky breath, his eyes closing for a brief moment as if to absorb the warmth of her touch. When he opened them again, the love in his gaze was unmistakable.
“Darlin’,” he drawled, brushing his nose against hers, “you sure do know how to make a man weak.”
Evelyn only smiled, wrapping her arms around him and pulling him closer. “Good thing you’re the strongest man I know.”
He laughed softly, tucking her into his chest, and for a moment, the world was quiet again. Just the two of them tangled in soft sheets, whispering promises that stretched beyond lifetimes.
"Have you talked to Edward about yesterday?" Evelyn broke the silence. She didn't want to get up, but knew that there were urgent matters that needed their attention.
"Let's not talk about him." Jasper said tensely.
Evelyn stretched before slipping out of bed, Jasper’s hand lingering at her waist as if reluctant to let her go. “Come on, grumpy. Let’s see what chaos awaits downstairs.”
They made their way to the living room, where the rest of the Cullens were already gathered. The atmosphere was tense, though Emmett was the first to break the silence with a playful grin. “Well, if it isn’t the lovebirds. You two finally decided to grace us with your presence?”
Evelyn rolled her eyes as she flopped onto the couch beside Alice. “You’re just jealous Jasper likes me more.”
Emmett gasped in mock offense, clutching his chest. “You wound me, Eve! I thought we had something special.”
Jasper smirked, wrapping an arm around Evelyn’s shoulders. “Can’t compete with me, brother.”
Edward, leaning against the fireplace, cleared his throat, bringing the attention back to him. His gaze met Evelyn’s, and he shifted uncomfortably. “Evelyn… I wanted to apologize for what happened with Bella. I know it was reckless. The last thing I wanted was for you to also get hurt.”
Evelyn tilted her head, studying him before finally nodding. “You did what you thought was right. And this cut is nothing. It's already healing. I'm a demigod, remember?”
Emmett snorted. “Yeah, he's just saying that because Jasper is scary as fuck when it comes to Evie here."
"Language." Rosalie scolded.
Emmett's eyes widened, immediately turning to the woman with an apology on the tip of his tongue. The rest of the family laughed, lightening the mood a little. Jasper squeezed Evelyn’s hand, and she leaned into him, knowing that no matter what happened, they would always have each other.
Alice got up to sit on Lucas' lap, who had just arrived with Carlisle from hunting. Along the way, her eyes glazed over and the rest of the family waited patiently for her vision to end. "We can't go to school today. It's going to be too sunny."
"No!" Evelyn groaned dramatically, pretending to faint at Rosalie, who playfully pushed her off of her. Evelyn rolled her eyes in his direction. "Rude. What am I going to do without you guys to entertain me?"
Jasper watched his mate's theatrics with a smirk on his lips and complete adoration in his eyes.
"You're gonna have fun, Eve, I've seen it!" Alice informed, giggling as Eve made a pout. Jasper hoped she would never hold that against him, or she would have whatever she asked for in a matter of seconds without him being able to refuse her anything.
"Fine, I'll go to school. I'll take the opportunity to talk to Bella, try to understand what's going on in her head."
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
Jasper ended up taking her to school, having to wear a cap and dark sunglasses. Still, to be careful, he left Eve a little earlier, making sure no one could see him.
Before she got out of the car, she turned to him shyly, "You look really good."
"Thank you, darlin'." he whispered, slowly approaching her, their faces getting closer and closer. The blonde's breath caught in her throat and her heart began to beat faster, "You also look beautiful."
Jasper turned his cap back so as not to hit the demigod's forehead, and at that moment, she felt like she was about to faint. Unable to hold it in any longer, she placed her hands on the vampire's cheeks and pulled him into a burning kiss.
When they pulled away, she placed a small kiss on the corner of Jasper's mouth, and opened the car door to get out with a small wave. The blond was completely in a trance, and if he were human he would be sure his heart would be beating so fast it could come out of his chest.
Evelyn didn't find Bella the whole morning. However, during lunch, as she walked to the tables outside, she saw Bella’s intense gaze locked on her. As soon as the blonde sat down, Bella walked to the table and sat down. The brunette leaned forward, as if she was telling a secret. “I need to talk to you.”
“Let me guess. About Edward?”
Bella nodded vigorously. “I saw him, Eve. He was across the parking lot, and then — he was there. He stopped the car with his bare hands! That’s not normal.”
Evelyn took a slow sip of her drink, buying herself time. “Maybe you hit your head harder than you thought.”
Bella frowned. “Evelyn, I know what I saw.”
Evelyn shrugged. “Maybe you saw what you think you saw.”
Bella groaned, frustration clear in her expression. “You know something. Don’t you?”
Evelyn gave a small, knowing smile. “Bella, sometimes things aren’t as simple as they seem.”
The human narrowed her eyes. “That’s not an answer.”
“It’s the only one you’re getting.”
Bella huffed, but Evelyn could see the curiosity burning behind her eyes. This wasn’t over. Thankfully, they were joined by their friends, interrupting their conversation. Jessica sat on the table, enjoying the sun's rays while Angela sat next to Evelyn.
"The Cullens aren't coming?" Jessica asked.
"No." Evelyn said, even if she knew that her friend already knew the answer to that question.
"Why aren't they coming?" Bella asked curiously.
"Whenever the weather's nice, the Cullens disappear. Dr. and Mrs. Cullen yank them out for, like, hiking and camping and stuff. I tried that with my parents. Not even close. Eve sometimes goes with them."
"Why didn't you go today?"
"I don't like to go all the time, Bella, they deserve to spend time alone as a family. Sometimes I join them, other times I don't. It's not that deep." Evelyn made up an excuse.
"That's really interesting, but hear this!" Angela interrupted, clearly extremely happy with something. "I'm going to prom with Eric. I just asked him. I took control."
She hugged Bella happily while Evelyn said, "That's amazing, Angela. You two are so cute together!"
"Are you sure you have to fo out of town, Bella?" Angela asked with a pout.
"Oh yeah, it's a little family thing."
“We have to go shopping in Port Angeles after school,” Jessica said, her hand blocking the sun so she could look at her friends. “I need something new before all the good dresses are cleaned out.”
Evelyn laughed. “Alright, alright. I’m in. Are you also coming, Bella?"
"Sure." she mumbled, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear as she remained silent and let the others continue sharing their ideas of what dress they were thinking of wearing.
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
Later, as they wandered through racks of shimmering fabrics and elegant silhouettes in a Port Angeles store, the conversation turned a predictable turn. Angela nudged Evelyn with a knowing smirk. “So… Jasper is kind of insanely in love with you, huh?”
Jessica twirled a dress hanger between her fingers, sighing dramatically. “It’s honestly unfair how cute you two are together. Like, does he even look at anyone else when you’re around?”
Evelyn grinned, her fingers ghosting over a velvet gown. “He’s just… Jasper. He makes everything feel special.”
From outside the store, a group of boys was passing through when they saw them trying the dresses. They knocked on the window to cath the attention of the girls. One of them whistled. “Hey, ladies, need some help picking something out?”
Jessica rolled her eyes. “Ugh. Ignore them.”
"That's disgusting." Bella, suddenly looking thoughtful, turned to Evelyn. “I think I’m gonna head to the bookstore.”
Evelyn grabbed her bag. “Wait, I’ll go with you. Meet you later at the restaurant.”
They ended up finding the library where Bella wanted to go, Evelyn looking at the books there while the brunette looked for the specific book that was supposedly very important. Eve was already getting tired of finding answers to the Swan girl's questions, and it didn't go unnoticed that the book she wanted to buy was about ancient legends.
When they finally left, the two wandered through unfamiliar streets, the restaurant nowhere in sight. The sky had darkened slightly, casting long shadows over the pavement. Bella frowned. “I think we’re lost.”
Before they could figure out where to go, the same boys from earlier appeared, smirking. “Didn’t expect to see you here,” one said. “Need a ride?”
Evelyn stepped protectively in front of Bella, her jaw tightening. “We’re fine, thanks.”
Another chuckled, stepping closer. “Come on, don’t be shy.”
Bella gripped Evelyn’s arm, whispering, “We need to go. Now.”
The tallest boy took another step forward, eyes gleaming with amusement. “You sure? Seems like you’re a little lost.”
Evelyn exhaled sharply, keeping her voice steady. “I said we’re fine.”
As they turned to walk away, the boys exchanged glances before following. The sound of footsteps behind them sent a chill down Evelyn’s spine. Her grip on Bella tightened. “Just keep walking,” she muttered.
But deep down, she knew they wouldn’t be left alone so easily.
As they turned to walk away, one of the boys reached out and grabbed Evelyn’s wrist. Instinct kicked in. With a sharp twist, she yanked her arm free and shoved him back with enough force to make him stumble.
The air shifted. The playful sneers turned to something darker.
“Feisty one, huh?” another boy muttered before lunging at her.
Evelyn barely had time to shove Bella aside before the fight erupted. One swung at her, but she ducked, delivering a swift kick to his knee. He collapsed with a curse, and she turned just in time to block another attack. Her demigod strength sent the second boy tumbling backward, but there were too many of them.
“Bella, run!” Evelyn shouted, stopping one of the man from grabbing Bella's arm. The demigod pushed her towards the alleyway. “Go!”
Bella hesitated, eyes wide with panic. “I can’t—”
“Now!” Evelyn barked, dodging another punch. Bella turned and sprinted into the night. "Get help!"
A rough hand tangled in Evelyn’s shirt, yanking her back. She spun, throwing an elbow into the attacker’s gut. The fabric of her shirt ripped as another boy grabbed at her, and she growled, slamming her fist into his jaw.
Breathing hard, she backed up, readying herself for another wave—when the roar of an engine split the night.
Two cars screeched to a stop, their headlights illuminating the scene. The doors flew open. Edward and Jasper.
A low growl rumbled from Jasper’s chest, his golden eyes dark with fury as he took in the sight of Evelyn standing amidst the gang of men, her shirt torn, her fists clenched.
Her hair was messy, but other than that she was brimming with confidence and anger at the behavior of men who couldn't take no for an answer. But seeing his mate with her bra visible and knuckles bruised from the force of her punches made the vampire see red. His protective side yearned to kill those humans slowly and watch them suffer.
"Edward, Bella is somewhere over there. Go get her." Evelyn warned him, watching as he immediately ran to the girl. Eve couldn't hear them, but she could see Edward leading the brunette to his car and driving off, knowing the couple could handle the situation.
Jasper locked eyes with the closest man still standing. His posture was tense, all his muscles contracting in anger. He placed himself protectively in front of Evelyn, not allowing any more danger to come to her. First, they would have to go through him. “You’ve made a grave mistake.”
The air seemed to vibrate as Jasper took a single step forward, predatory, lethal. Fear rippled through the group, their earlier bravado crumbling as they took an unconscious step back.
"Wathever, this isn't worth it for this crazy bitch."
Evelyn closed her eyes with a sigh, knowing that this was now the tip of the iceberg for Jasper. Evelyn grabbed his arm to stop him from moving forward, feeling his muscles relax ever so slightly at her touch.
The vampire looked over his shoulder at her, his gaze softening at her apprehensive look. "Wait for me in the car. I promise I won't lose control."
Obviously, Evelyn didn't do that but stayed behind him in case she needed to intervene. With controlled but precise force, Jasper drove his fist into the nearest man’s stomach. The man gasped, crumpling to the pavement, groaning in pain. His friends scrambled to pick him up, their fear thick in the air.
“That’s mercy,” Jasper said darkly, his Southern drawl dripping with menace. “You don’t deserve it. Do this again, and I will know. I will kill you.”
Evelyn watched hesitantly as Jasper turned back to her, his expression unreadable. Without a word, he shrugged off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
“Are you alright?” His voice was softer now, but his eyes still burned with barely restrained rage.
“I’m fine, Jasper,” Evelyn murmured, placing a hand on his chest. “It’s over.”
He took a slow breath, trying to steady himself. “They touched you.” His fists were still clenched. “They hurt you.”
“I handled it, I trained my all life to fight monsters. I can handle drunk men.” she reassured him gently. “And then you showed up.”
Jasper’s jaw tightened, his gaze scanning her for any injuries. “You shouldn’t have had to handle it alone.”
Evelyn sighed, stepping closer and resting her forehead against his. He was shaking, Evelyn didn't even know If that was possible. Maybe she was the one shaking. “I’m okay. Bella’s okay. That’s what matters.”
Jasper exhaled, finally allowing some of the tension to leave his body. “Bella is a magnet for danger. Please, stop hanging out with her alone.”
She smiled softly. “Sure.”
Jasper pressed a kiss to her forehead, lingering for a moment before leading her back to the car. “Let’s go home. If I wasn't immortal I would have died by heart attack by now.”

Evelyn woke up to the smell of eggs and bacon. She had slept in Jasper's room, asking him to stay until she fell asleep, but then he could join the rest of the vampires in the living room so he wouldn't be bothered by her sleeping. However, Jasper stayed with her the whole night, his fingers gently tracing the contours of her face, recording every detail in his mind.
The girl jumped out of bed, going downstairs and seeing the whole family in the living room, Emmett and Lucas playing a video game while Rosalie and Alice read a fashion magazine. Carlisle must have gone to work already.
"Morning! Where's Jasper and Esme?"
"They're in the kitchen making you breakfast." Lucas informed, his tongue hanging out in concentration as he tried to outwit the other vampire.
Evelyn nodded and then went to the kitchen. There Jasper had his eyes fixed on the frying pan while he stirred the eggs, Esme was giving him advice over his shoulder. "You're cooking breakfast? For me?"
"Of course, Lyn. At least I'm trying." Jasper appreciated the girl's looks as soon as he woke up. She was beautiful at any time of the day, but here everything seemed so normal. As if they had a normal relationship. "Did you sleep well?"
Evelyn yawned. "Yes, thank you. What did you do while I was sleeping?"
"Alice and Lucas went hunting. And Esme took the opportunity to teach me a few things about the art of cooking." Jasper informed, Esme had a big smile when she saw her son kiss Eve's forehead. "I want to know how to cook for you."
"Well, I'm sure I'll like everything you cook for me."
"Don't be late for class." Esme warned, before leaving the two alone in the kitchen. Jasper presented the dish to Evelyn, a proud smile on his face as she complimented the food.
"Now you'll have to cook for me every day." Evelyn teased, finishing her meal and putting her plate in the dishwasher.
"With pleasure."
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
A week later, Edward returned. The reactions were mixed, everyone was happy to have the vampire back, because that was the only way the family would be complete. However, they were also worried about the future. Especially Rosalie, who feared the consequences that Edward's obsession with the human could bring.
Evelyn stayed away from the discussion since it was a family problem. But she felt sorry for Edward, so many years living alone must be challenging.
Of course, Bella noticed Edward's return right away and the two exchanged intense looks all day. When leaving school, Jasper had an open umbrella protecting him and Evelyn while they followed the rest of the vampires to their cars. In the distance, Evelyn saw Bella looking at them.
"I'm just going to talk to Bella. I haven't done it in a long time, I don't want her to think I'm ignoring her because of Edward." the blonde warned.
"Take your umbrella," Jasper said, not wanting her to get caught in the rain and risk catching a cold.
"It's not raining that much. I'll be fine."
"How stubborn." Jasper groaned much to the amusement of the others who watched the demigod hurry to Bella's car.
"Hey, Bella. How are you enjoying Forks?"
"Hi, Evelyn." Bella smiled, a little embarrassed at having been caught staring at them. "It's fine. Not sure about the ice."
"You'll get used to it in no time, trust me." Evelyn reassured. "We haven't spoken in a while, you and Charlie have to go to the dinner sometime. I've already memorized your requests to make it quicker."
"Thanks." the brunette chuckled. Her father talked a lot about Evelyn and how Bella should try to be her friend, as she would be a good influence.
However, before Evelyn could continue the conversation, Bella's eyes widened and she took an instinctive step back, running into her car.
Evelyn, who had her back to the situation, realized a little too late that a car was coming towards them, out of control due to the ice. With her demigod instincts, she was going to push herself and the other girl away, in order to avoid being hit, but before she could do so, she felt a force come against them both.
As Bella fell to the ground, Edward's arms cushioning her fall, Evelyn hit her head on the pavement, immediately feeling a pain spread through her head. She looked around, her vision a little blurry, and saw the vampire's hand against Tyler's car, making it dent with an inhuman force. Bella looked at him in shock, as did Evelyn, although they had different motives.
When he smelled blood, Edward quickly turned to Evelyn, examining her injuries. He immediately felt a great deal of guilt for not having tried to break the demigod's fall, but he knew that she was less likely to be hurt than Bella, given her skills as a demigod.
In a flash, he stood up and left, leaving the students who had watched the assailant to run and surround the two girls. Standing up with some difficulty, Evelyn left the circle they had formed to try to find Jasper.
"Don't worry, Eve, we're calling an ambulance!" Jessica's voice could be heard from afar.
Ignoring her, Evelyn looked towards the parking lot. On the other side, still in the same place, she saw Jasper being held by Emmett and Lucas while Rosalie and Alice looked at her with concern and anger in their eyes because of what Edward had done. Jasper was breathing heavily, even though he didn't need to, trying to free himself from his brothers' grip. Why had they stopped him from running to her and saving her? He needed to get to Evelyn.
"Jasper, stop! Look, there's Eve, she's okay. Relax." Emmett tried to bring Jasper back to reality.
Finally, his amber eyes and Eve's blue ones met. Jasper stood completely still, his eyes scanning her entire body for injuries, finally stopping at the small cut on Evelyn's forehead. He clenched his jaw in anger. Before he tried to go to her again, she assured him, "I'm okay. I'm okay."
With one last look, the Cullens got into the car, probably heading to the hospital to talk to Carlisle. Evelyn sighed, knowing the trouble this would bring.
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
Evelyn just wanted to sleep. She had been taken by ambulance with Bella to the hospital, where Carlisle examined them. Neither of the girls had any serious injuries, just minor bruises from the fall and of course Evelyn's cut that only needed to be disinfected.
While Rosalie, who hugged her fiercely when she saw her, assuring her that she was fine, stayed talking to Carlisle and Edward with Bella, Evelyn left the hospital where Jasper was waiting for her.
When he saw the blonde, the vampire closed his eyes in relief, feeling that he could finally relax a little. Although all his family had already said that she was fine, Jasper had to confirm it with his own eyes. He met her halfway, bringing her into his arms, and letting her rest her head on his chest.
"You're okay." He kissed her hair, inhaling her scent.
"It was my fault. I let my guard down, Jasper! I should have heard the car arrive sooner, and then I could have pushed Bella and you wouldn't have had to put yourselves in danger." Evelyn explained, visibly upset, while Jasper tried to calm her down with his gift. "I'm sorry."
He grabbed her chin gently and forced her to look into his intense eyes. Instead of saying anything, he brought their faces closer until their lips brushed against each other. "May I?"
Evelyn didn't answer, she simply put her arms around Jasper's neck and connected their lips. It was an explosion of emotions, neither of them had ever felt anything like it. Evelyn's lips were soft, and Jasper's were cold, but that only made the girl want more. Jasper's hands were on Evelyn's waist, squeezing her waist gently. They never wanted to be apart, but the vampire knew the demigod had to breathe. So he pulled away a little, bringing their foreheads together.
"That was…" he murmured.
"Yeah." she agreed, biting her lower lip. She brought him in for another kiss.
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
The two of them had gone to Cullen's house, since the vampire insisted that Evelyn had to sleep. Now, she was in Jasper's room, in the bed he had bought specifically for her, and covered in huge blankets that Jasper insisted on putting on her. It was funny how her body was used to warm temperatures, but she craved the vampire's cold touch every moment of the day.
"How are Bella and Edward?"
"They're at the bottom of my list of worries," Jasper stated, still angry with his brother. He paced the room, eventually kneeling in front of Evelyn after placing a glass of water on the bedside table.
"Jasper, I'm fine. I promise. I've had much worse, this is just a small cut." Eve assured the worried man. "And I'm still sorry, I could have done more."
"That doesn't make me feel better, darling. And stop apologizing, I won't hear more of that. It was not your fault." He sighed, stroking Evelyn's wavy hair and lulling her to sleep. "You'll never leave my side again."
"So dramatic." Evelyn whispered, unable to fight the wave of sleepiness that was invading her system. With one last small smile, the demigod let herself fall into a deep sleep.
After spending a few more moments with Evelyn, who was looking extremely cute sleeping with a small pout on her lips, Jasper went to the living room where the rest of the family was. In truth, he wanted to stay by Evelyn's side, the events of the day had brought out his most protective side.
The blond had been so scared when he realized that a car was heading towards her and that her back was turned. He immediately tried to run to her, but Edward was faster and hit him on the shoulder as he passed him, which made Jasper lose his balance. This allowed Emmett and Lucas to grab him so they wouldn't have to find excuses for both him and Edward.
Jasper didn't even remember their grip, he could only focus on the commotion of people, and how he couldn't find Evelyn in the middle of the confusion.
When he saw her, he didn't think he had ever felt so relieved. But that cut on her forehead tormented his mind. She shouldn't have any wounds on her perfect skin.
Now in the living room, everyone was sitting on the couch, except for Rosalie who was pacing back and forth. They were all waiting for Edward and Carlisle to come back from the hospital.
As soon as the door to the house opened, in a flash Jasper was in front of Edward and threw him out of the house again with extreme force. Edward, unprepared, fell to the floor but quickly got to his feet ready to defend himself from Jasper who was even more frightening as he was protecting his mate.
Without giving Edward a chance to explain himself, Jasper punched him hard enough that the skin on his cheek shattered like porcelain. Jasper, in the distance, could hear Esme's gasp but he couldn't stop.
"Jasper, I'm sorry." Edward said sincerely, his arms outstretched in front of him as he took a step back. "I wasn't thinking straight, but since Eve is a demigod, she had a better chance of not getting hurt. Bella is just a human."
"Do I look like I care?!" Jasper asked with irony, his voice threatening and authoritative. "My mate could still die like a human. She could still die from head trauma. Just because she's tougher than a mere human doesn't mean you can just stop me from helping Lyn."
"I didn't mean to," the other vampire tried to defend himself. "I was just focused on getting there, I didn't realize you had the same idea."
"Get your priorities straight, Edward. I hope there won't be a next time like this. I won't be as forgiving." Jasper threatened, and with one last look that would make the bravest of people cry uncontrollably, Jasper walked back into the house and to Evelyn's side.
"What he said, honestly." Rosalie had to add, crossing her arms and glaring angrily at Edward who was now fine again, without any trace of Jasper's punch. The rest of the family sighed, this was going to go badly.

Wild Hearts
Jasper Hale x original character
Summary: When a new girl arrives at Forks, she seems to catch Jasper Hale's attention. However, he and his family are hiding a secret. What they don't know is that Evelyn has a secret of her own
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7 | Chapter 8
Evelyn had taken the news that she and Jasper were mates surprisingly well. However, she had asked the vampire to take it slow and not to rush things. Jasper had accepted without a second thought; all he wanted was for Evelyn to be happy. He would wait hundreds of years for her if need be.
But the two had grown much closer. They exchanged small, innocent touches, were always glued together when they were together, and none of this went unnoticed by the rest of the school. The girls looked at Evelyn with envy, both for having caught Jasper's attention and for her mythical beauty, while the boys glared at Jasper with anger. The vampire was quick to return the glare and pull the dark blonde closer to him.
Evelyn had also spent more time at the Cullens' house. Jasper invited her over every day, and although he said it was because he always missed her, she knew that one of the reasons was also because he didn't like the conditions of her house. But she really liked her place, since it was the first time she lived alone. Always living in the demigod camp, she had to share her cabin with six other daughters of Aphrodite. Although they were very close friends, arguments always ended up happening.
Something else had also changed in Forks. Apparently they were going to receive a new student, Chief Swan's daughter. Once the man gave her a ride, he told her how happy he was to have his daughter living with him again after so many years apart.
That morning, it was Jasper who picked her up at home so they could go to school together. She was just putting on her boots when the doorbell rang.
"The door is open!" she shouted to the person on the other side, who she knew was Jasper as she heard his car pull up.
"Darling, how many times do I have to tell you to lock the door?" the vampire sighed and scratched the tip of his nose in exasperation. "It's dangerous, someone might come in."
"I knew it was you." She rolled her eyes at Jasper's protectiveness.
He saw her pull on her coat and point to the door, indicating that they should go. However, the boy motioned with his fingers for her to come closer to him. When she did, Jasper pulled her coat up tight, and grabbed a scarf from the coat rack and wrapped it around Evelyn's neck, making sure she was warm.
"We need to get you more warm clothes. Your cheeks are still rosy right now." he teased, seeing the demigod's gaze locked on him.
Their faces were extremely close, and Evelyn could feel herself blushing even more. Her eyes flicked down to Jasper's lips, which were forming a smirk, and back up to his eyes again.
She cleared her throat. "Must be the cold. We should go to school. And wipe that proud smile of your face."
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
When they arrived at school, everyone was talking about Bella Swan. Evelyn hadn't had the chance to meet her yet, but she made a point of introducing herself. Charlie had talked about Bella so much that Evelyn felt like she already knew her.
After a tiring morning, where Evelyn luckily had a few classes with Jasper and Rosalie, she and the Cullen family headed to the cafeteria. Alice was telling her about a new one that had opened in Seattle, while Lucas complained to Jasper about Evelyn stealing Alice's attention from him.
The blond vampire just laughed and put an arm around Evelyn's waist. Lucas took the opportunity to pull the little vampire towards him and make her spin a little as they entered the cafeteria, where the other students of the school were already gathered.
At a table, Evelyn saw her friends with the famous Bella. From Jessica's position, all leaning forward, she knew they were in gossip mode.
"Who are they?" Bella questioned, watching the Cullens walk with an inhuman grace, their skin as pale as chalk and their eyes as amber. Beside them, a girl who was not so pale, with a healthy brown skin, eyes as clear as the sky and who had a natural beauty that made all the heads present turn to her.
"The Cullens." Angela answered. "And that's Evelyn, she's our friend."
"Yes, she moved here at the beginning of the year. She's very nice, you'll like her." Jessica continued. "But she attracted the attention of the Cullens, and since then she's glued to Jasper, the boy who's been sending glares to everyone who dares to look at Eve."
"Don't be like that, Jess. Eve is friends with them, but she always makes time for us. Just yesterday we all went out together." Angela rolled her eyes.
"Anyway, they're Doctor and Mrs. Cullen's foster kids. They all moved down here from Alaska two years ago. They're all together. Like, together together. The blonde girl, Rosalie, and the big dark-haired guy, Emmett, they're a thing. I'm not even sure if that's legal."
"I don't know how you get along with those people, Evie." Rosalie rolled her eyes.
"What are they saying now?" Evelyn sighed, grabbing Jasper's arm affectionately. As much as she adored Jessica, she had a tendency to get too involved in other people's lives.
"The little dark-haired girl, Alice, she's really weird." Jessica continued, pointing at the vampire. "She's with Lucas. They're very different, he seems to be more shy while Alice is outgoing. Then, you have Jasper and Evelyn. They're kind of the hottest couple, even though Eve tells us several times that they're not dating."
"Yet." Angela giggled.
"Yup, I give it like two weeks. Everyone is so jealous of them." she said, watching them pass by their table. Evelyn stood on her tiptoes, and gave Jasper a light kiss on the cheek, leaving him to go to the Cullens, who sat at the farthest table while Evelyn sat with her friends.
"Let me guess, you guys are gossiping." Evelyn interrupted their conversation, sitting down next to Bella.
"Obviously." Jessica nodded amused.
"Hi, I'm Evelyn. And you must be Bella?"
"Yes, it's nice to meet you." The girl stammered a little.
She had realized why she had captured everyone's attention. Her face seemed to have been carefully constructed, her lips were full and pink, and her eyes a very clear blue. In addition, she seemed to always have a smile on her face. Bella couldn't find a single flaw.
Evelyn smiled, Bella and her father were both socially awkward. "Nice to meet you too. Your dad talks a lot about you."
"You know Charlie?" Bella questioned.
Evelyn found it a little strange that the girl called her father by his name, but she decided to ignore it. "Yes, he gives me a ride every now and then so I don't have to walk to school."
However, Bella's attention was already focused on the last Cullen to arrive in the cafeteria. Edward Cullen walked confidently, he had bronze colored hair and an air of mystery that only captured Bella's attention more. "Who's that?"
"That's Edward Cullen." Jessica murmured. Edward walked past their table, leaving a kiss on Evelyn's head, and as soon as he started walking away Jessica and Angela broke down in giggles. However, when he glanced at Bella over his shoulder, he seemed confused about something.
"Eve, you are so lucky." Angela groaned, dropping her head on the table.
"He's totally gorgeous, obviously. But apparently, no one here is good enough for him. Like I care." Jessica feigned disinterest. "They only care about Eve here. So, don't waste your time."
"I wasn't planning on it." Bella shook her head, but her gaze remained fixed on the boy.
Evelyn stared at the two with wide eyes. From the Cullen table, Jasper motioned for her to come over to them. The daughter of Aphrodite nodded, realizing they had something to say to her. "Sorry, girls, I'm just going to see a Jasper before we have to go to class."
"Young love, so beautiful." Jessica teased, Evelyn playfully tossed her a napkin and grabbed her things before heading to the other table.
"What is it?" she asked as she sat down next to Jasper, who immediately pulled her chair closer to his.
"Bella, the new girl, she's Edward's blood singer. And apparently he can't hear her thoughts."
"Like how you can't hear mine?"
"No." Edward shook his head thoughtfully. "It's different. I don't get static on her mind. I can't hear anything at all. It's silent."
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
That same day, Evelyn had to go to work at the dinner, being dropped off by Jasper who promised to pick her up as well. Even though he told her that she didn't have to work anymore, Evelyn refused. There was no way she would depend on Jasper, whether they were mates or not.
So, she got ready for her shift. She was cleaning a table when Charlie and Bella Swan entered the dinner, their presence being announced by the bell on the door.
"Charlie, Bella! How are you? Come, you can sit on this table and I'll bring you the menu." Evelyn greeted, leading them to a table in the corner of the dinner, where they could chat freely.
"Hey, Eve. Have you guys met at school today?"
Bella nodded, letting an awkward silence settle in. Before it could get worse, Evelyn brought the menus, and let them choose. Until the end of her shift, she only had the opportunity to say goodbye to the father-daughter duo, as the other waitress took over their table. Everyone in the town was very happy to see Bella with Chief Swan, and they all wanted to see if she remembered them. Of course, the girl had no idea who they were, which only made her more embarrassed.
When she left the establishment, Jasper was already waiting for her patiently. His serious look changed to one of adoration when he saw Evelyn walking towards him.
"Hello, darling. Did your shift go well? Did anyone give you any trouble?" Now that he knew why Evelyn was bringing so much attention, Jasper had become very protective of her. Even though he knew she could defend herself.
"Everything went really well. How is Edward?" she asked, getting into the car when Jasper opened the door for her.
"He's going to Alaska for a while, to the Denalis, who are friends of ours." Jasper explained, making sure to turn the car's heater up to full blast. "The smell of Bella's blood is too tempting and he's afraid of losing control. Rosalie isn't happy."
"Seems like Rose." she chuckled, lifting an arm and running her hand over Jasper's cheek in a caress. The vampire smiled, and turned his face slightly, but never taking his eyes off the road, to kiss the palm of her hand.
"Are you sleeping over tonight? It's really cold today, Emmett and Lucas are in charge of taking care of the fire. I think you'll give us the chance to use the fireplace for the first time." Jasper asked. "Please."
"Fine. But you can't let those two paint things on my face while I sleep. Last time it took half an hour for the paint to come off."
"Sure thing, Lyn."

Wild hearts
Jasper Hale x original character
Summary: When a new girl arrives at Forks, she seems to catch Jasper Hale's attention. However, he and his family are hiding a secret. What they don't know is that Evelyn has a secret of her own
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3
Evelyn and the Cullens were getting closer, especially Evelyn with Jasper. The family had taken her in and that seemed to be the biggest news at school. The Cullens, who had never spoken to anyone, had become friends with Eve in a matter of weeks. And that only brought even more attention to her.
Jasper would often come to her house to help her study and would also bring food made by Esme, who Evelyn had yet to meet. It wasn't that Jasper didn't want to take her home with him, but he already had to share Evelyn with his siblings, even Edward who had finally gotten over his frustration with not being able to read Eve's thoughts due to the static. He didn't want to have to share her at home too.
However, Evelyn had not forgotten her first friends at all, and made a point of dividing her time between the two groups. Despite being asked about the Cullens' secrets, especially Jessica and Mike, Evelyn never said anything, just rolling her eyes playfully and changing the subject.
She was now in biology class, Jasper by her side, extremely close to her. In fact, it was just to smell Eve's vanilla scent and not focus on the blood circulating through the other students' veins.
They were dissecting a frog, something Evelyn didn't really appreciate from her expression. Jasper laughed slightly at Eve's antics, who almost refused to cut the poor animal's belly. She handed the scalpel to the vampire, telling him he should do it. He accepted without complaint.
However, in the middle of the class, a distracted student slightly cut his finger with the scalpel. Evelyn saw a small drop of blood escape from the cut, and her eyes widened. Beside her, Jasper tensed, his jaw clenched and fists closed. He immediately pulled away from Evelyn and held his breath. The only thing that was stopping him from attacking was Evelyn, but even so he wouldn't be able to maintain control for much longer.
However, Evelyn didn't let him get too far, quickly grabbing Jasper's hand. She suddenly stood up in her chair, making a loud noise that caught the teacher's attention.
"Sorry! Blood, dizzy. I have to leave." She explained as succinctly as possible. The teacher nodded, looking at her strangely. She pulled the vampire with her. "Jasper has to come with me. To help me."
Without waiting for the teacher's answer, the two hurried out of the classroom, going as far away from the room as possible. They were at the end of the hallway, close to the exit doors.
Jasper, who was letting the scent of his mate consume his body, looked at her in surprise. "You know." he whispered.
"Surprise?"
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
Jasper quickly took her to his car, heading to their house. He received a text from Alice saying that they were behind him, having heard what happened thanks to their sharp hearing.
The two remained silent, as Evelyn had said that she would explain it to everyone at the same time, as it would be easier if everyone was present.
Jasper nodded, but asked only one question. "Aren't you afraid of me?"
"No," she answered with certainty. "You don't know, Jasper, but there are many monsters in this world. You and your family are far from that."
They finally arrived at the Cullen mansion, and Evelyn looked at the house in adoration. They lived a little isolated from the rest of the city, near the edge of the forest. The house was large, with lots of glass that let in light. The walls were made of wood, giving it a rustic and classic feel, perfect for the Cullens.
The door opened and Evelyn saw two people, looking older but still extremely beautiful with their pale skin and amber eyes.
"Jasper? Is everything alright?" the woman, who Evelyn realized was Esme, asked. "Is that Evelyn?"
"Yes, hello!" she smiled at the couple, letting Jasper put a hand on her back and lead her to the entrance of the house. "It's very nice to meet you, Mrs. and Mr. Cullen."
"Please, call us Esme and Carlisle. You really are as beautiful as Jasper said." Esme said, opening the door wider for them to enter. Behind them, the rest of the Cullens' cars had arrived and everyone was heading inside, their eyes fixed on Evelyn.
"What's going on?" the clan leader asked, confused.
"She knows." Jasper said simply, but never taking his eyes off Eve.
"Well, I certainly have to tell you the truth now." Evelyn tried to calm her pounding heart. "I wasn't sure what you were, because I've met some of your kind who were… different. But the pale skin, the fact that you never ate, all signs pointed to you being vampires."
Evelyn saw Rosalie open her mouth, but cut her off before she could speak. "Don't worry, Rose, I won't say anything. After all, I have a secret too. And I really don't want it to be revealed."
"You can trust us, darling." Jasper promised, taking a small step toward her unconsciously. He needed to be closer to her.
"I know." She smiled slightly. "I am, this is going to sound weird I know, but I am the daughter of Aphrodite, goddess of love and fertility."
"So you're what? A demigod?" Emmett asked, his mouth slightly open. When Evelyn confirmed, he turned to his wife, "See? I got it right!"
Rosalie rolled her eyes at her husband's antics. Alice was the next to speak, "What does that mean? What can you do?"
"Quite unlike the children of the other gods, I have no powers. I know how to fight, but only because I've been trained since I was three. Demigods, those who are recognized by their parents at least, go to a camp. There we train to… to kill monsters."
"What kind of monsters?" Lucas crossed his arms, bringing Alice closer to him. Jasper glared at him, when he saw Evelyn's face fall.
"Oh, not you. Another type of monster. You know Furies, Minotaur, Mimas, and the list goes on." She revealed, seeing the shocked looks of the vampire clan. "Anyway, I'm just pretty. I attract attention. But the children of Athena are smart, the children of Poseidon can control water. We all live together. And we go on quests to kill monsters and send them back to hell. That's also why I have dyslexia, all demigods have it. We are hyperactive, something that helps in battles."
"You're not just pretty. You're much more than that." Jasper quickly said, completely amazed by the girl.
"Thanks, Jasper. Well, on my last quest I went with my friends, but it didn't go well. I was the only survivor." Evelyn looked up to keep the tears from falling. "I had to get out of there. Try to live a normal life, for them."
The vampires looked at Evelyn sadly. "I never knew demigods were real." Carlisle whispered. He was completely surprised, as was the rest of his family.
"Yes, we try not to let anyone know. Our life is dangerous enough." Evelyn said, after controlling her emotions. What she didn't know, was that Jasper was helping her calm down. "The monsters chase us. They can sense that we are demigods. But here, in Forks, none have found me yet. I think it's because of the presence of so many supernatural beings."
"This is wicked!" Emmett exclaimed.
"So that's why I can't see what you're thinking?" Edward questioned. "Or because Alice didn't see you coming in her visions?"
"Sorry, what?" the blonde raised her eyebrows. "What do you mean?"
"Some vampires have gifts, darling." Jasper explained, now walking the rest of the distance to stand next to Evelyn. His amber eyes looked at her with admiration. "Edward can read minds, Alice can see the future and I'm an empath."
"Oh, wow. That's — wow." The vampire family laughed at Evelyn's reaction. "But yes, maybe that's why. What do you hear in my mind?"
"Just static. It's like a barrier I can't get past." Edward explained.
"That's cool." Evelyn murmured, her eyes wide. "What about you? Do you have another form besides your human one like the vampires I know?"
"No." Carlisle replied, his curiosity heightened by the knowledge that there were other species. "Are you able, if you can, to tell us more about these... vampires?"
"They are extremely beautiful and seductive women under the control of the goddess Hecate. They are known to feed on the blood of men. Their true form is a woman with flaming hair, white skin, glowing red eyes, fangs, one prosthetic Celestial Bronze leg and one donkey leg and wings." Eve explained succinctly. She remembered the first time she had fought an Empousa, it wasn't fun. "The demigods can see her in her true form, so I can tell your species apart. But I don't know a lot about you, we focus more on the mythical creatures."
"We glow when exposed to the sun. And we don't drink human blood, only animal blood, hence the color of our eyes." Evelyn nodded, already knowing that last part. "And we're immortal, of course."
"Same." Evelyn shrugged. The family looked at her in confusion, their eyes wide and eyebrows raised. It seemed as if she was discovering a new world after so many years of life. "Demigods are a bit stronger than a mere human. And we have a few more abilities. But we can still die if we are injured. At twenty, we become immortal, which is when our powers are at their peak."
"How old are you?" Alice asked.
"I'm nineteen." Evelyn informed with a small laugh. "My ritual isn't until next year. So now you know."
Rosalie was the first to snap out of her shock and pulled Evelyn into a hug. Evelyn quickly hugged her back, happy that there were no more secrets, or so she thought. Alice hurried to join them, the three of them giggling, while the rest of the vampires watched them with smiles. They acted like real teenagers when they were together.
After talking to the Cullen family a bit more, she and Jasper went for a walk in the woods. He was somewhat relieved that they had an eternity together, and that he wouldn't have to watch her grow old without him.
"So you can feel what I'm feeling?" Evelyn found the courage to ask. Jasper nodded. "That's a little embarrassing. I don't know why I feel this way around you."
"I know why, darling." He stopped walking, causing Evelyn to stop as well. He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
Evelyn lost herself as she looked into Jasper's eyes. They held so much pain, but also adoration for her. But why? The forest had gone silent, even the birds had stopped singing, as if they knew something was going to happen.
Jasper's cool touch on her cheek was soothing, and it made her stomach turn. It was as if every time the vampire touched her, an electric shock spread through her body. All rational thoughts were forgotten and she could only focus on him.
"We're mates. I'm yours. And you're mine."
"I think I need to sit down."

Forks had quickly become Evelyn's favorite place. That day, the rain fell gracefully, creating small puddles of water on the ground and making the forest landscape outside the dark blonde's bedroom window even more mysterious. She hadn't explored the city much yet, but she hoped to be able to do so in the next few days.
She got a ride from Angela and Jessica to school, and the three of them had become quite close. One of the biggest reasons was that they had formed an alliance against the trio of Mike, Eric, and Tyler.
On the other hand, Alice also greeted her every day when she saw her in the hallway, and she had even seen Rosalie give her a small smile. It was somewhat surprising because Evelyn was sure that the blonde didn't like her, although Eve didn't know what she had done wrong. The one who didn't talk to her much was Jasper, even after they had gotten along when they walked to class together.
After saying goodbye to her friends, who had a different class than her, Evelyn headed to history class. The truth is that classes were a pain, not that they weren't interesting, but Evelyn couldn't pay attention for long, quickly getting lost in her thoughts. Besides, the words all got mixed up in her head, so trying to read the school books was very frustrating.
Evelyn then sat down at an empty table, resting her chin on her hand and looking around while she waited for the teacher to arrive. She entertained herself watching the other students, who were chatting animatedly since the class hadn't started yet.
However, her attention was diverted when Jasper pulled out the chair next to her and sat down, looking at her with a small smile.
"Hey, Jasper. How are you?"
"Hello, Evelyn." The vampire felt his chest tighten, and had to remind himself that he had to breathe in to maintain his disguise as a human. But Evelyn's smile, directed at him, drove him crazy. "I'm good, thank you. And you, darling?"
"I'm fine too! Really loving Forks. I'm planning on going for a walk here, maybe exploring the forest a bit."
"You should be careful, the forest can be dangerous." the boy warned worriedly. However, Evelyn couldn't answer because the teacher had finally arrived.
The subject was interesting, they were talking about the Civil War. However, and nothing new, Evelyn ended up getting distracted and missed what the professor was explaining, until she heard her name mentioned. She jumped in her chair, seeing that the whole class and the teacher were looking at her, waiting.
"Excuse me, can you repeat that?" Evelyn was sure that her face was completely red with embarrassment. Jasper, next to her, watched the situation with a frown. He didn't like feeling those feelings from his mate.
He sighed. "I asked you to read the document and tell me about the key turning points of the Civil War. Today, Miss Miller, preferably."
The girl looked at the board and her breathing quickened. As she already knew it was going to happen, although she still hoped for a miracle to happen, the words all got mixed up, preventing her from understanding what the professor wanted her to say.
The class was completely silent, watching the teacher lose his patience with the new student. "Well?" he snapped.
"I'm sorry, it's just that my dyslexia…"
Jasper was getting more and more irritated at seeing Evelyn's discomfort. Then, he leaned forward slightly, his voice low but carrying a strange, commanding weight. “The Battle of Gettysburg was the turning point for the Union. Lee's defeat ended the Confederacy's advance into the North and marked the beginning of their decline.”
The teacher raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed. “That's correct, but I didn't know your name was also Evelyn, Mr. Hale." Small chuckles echoed around the room. Evelyn only blushed more at this, looking at Jasper who seemed unaffected by the looks he was receiving. "But what made Gettysburg so significant?"
His Southern accent was even more noticeable as he continued. “It wasn't just the loss of troops. The morale of the Confederate Army took a hit they never recovered from. Combine that with the Union’s growing industrial advantage and—” He paused, as though catching himself. “Well, the outcome became inevitable.”
The teacher seemed slightly taken aback. “Well, that’s… very detailed, Jasper. Nice work.”
When the teacher resumed teaching, Evelyn was able to jump from her seat to hug the blond. “Thank you so much, Jasper. You didn’t have to do that. I’m sorry I put you in this position.”
“You didn’t put me in anything, Evelyn. Don’t worry about it.” Jasper tried to soothe Evelyn’s concern with his gift.
“No, I truly am sorry. It’s just that school is always so hard for me. I have… I have trouble learning.” she whispered, looking away from the vampire’s amber eyes.
“I can help you, if you want.” Anything to get closer to the girl. "I can explain the topics to you so you don't have to read anything."
"Would you mind doing that?" Eve asked hopefully. When he nodded, she straightened her back in excitement. "I really appreciate it. Thank you, Jasper. You're very sweet."
If Jasper were human, he was sure he would be blushing by now. After so many years alone, he had finally found his mate. She was so much better than any version of her he had ever imagined. Her beauty, both internal and external, the way she was so easy to make blush, her confidence. She was simply perfect. And he was a monster who didn’t deserve her.
He should leave her alone, he knew that. She couldn’t be with someone like him. But it was so hard resisting their bond. He didn’t know if that would ever be possible, for now, he was simply enjoying the moment.
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
Evelyn was standing by the lockers with Jessica and Angela, Jessica telling them about the latest school gossip. Evelyn wasn't the biggest fan of gossip, because since she didn't want anyone to get involved in her life, she didn't want anyone else's either.
A group entering the school caught her attention. It was the Cullens, talking quietly, but apparently a little angrily, among themselves. Edward looked at her, his eyes frustrated for some reason. Alice, following her brother's line of sight, waved at Evelyn and motioned for her to come over.
"Sorry, I'm just going to say hello to Alice. You can tell me the rest at lunch, Jessica." she said, starting to take a step toward the Cullens, but Jessica's voice stopped her.
"You're going to say hello to Alice Cullen?" Jessica shrieked. Evelyn looked at her with wide eyes, nodding slowly. "How did you manage to talk to them? Since the moment they arrived, they haven't spoken to anyone!"
"I'm sure you're exaggerating, Jessica. They're all very nice." The dark blonde replied, and without giving Jessica time to continue, she walked towards the vampire family. "Good morning."
She received a greeting from everyone, and a smile from Jasper that made her heart race. His pained expression lessened as Evelyn approached.
She didn't know how it was possible to know him for such a short time and feel such a strong connection with him. As if she wanted to spend every second of the day with him. It was a very strange feeling.
Emmett and Lucas exchanged a smile when they saw his brother completely in love with the girl. He looked like a puppy, all that was missing was wagging his tail when he saw his owner.
Alice, rolling her eyes at her boyfriend and brother's antics, crossed her arms with Evelyn's and started walking down the hallway. Rosalie stood on the other side of Evelyn, her face a little more serious.
"I love your outfit, Rosalie. You have to tell me where you got that sweater." Evelyn complimented sincerely.
"Thanks." The blonde smiled at Evelyn, also crossing her arm with the girl's. She really wasn't that bad, even though she was human. And her scent was so calming to be near, it made you forget about the tempting blood of other people.
The boys, who were left behind, opened their mouths in shock when they saw the vampire's action. Emmett kept hitting Jasper's arm, and if he wasn't a vampire, he would have been thrown back. But Jasper didn't even feel Emmett's hand, his gaze fixed on his mate. She managed to win everyone's hearts.
"Oh!" Alice gave a small excited squeal. "We have to go shopping together! How about today?"
"Sure! It should be fun. I haven't had much time to get to know the city yet."
"Why?" Rosalie asked curiously.
"I've been working at a dinner nearby." Evelyn informed. "And it takes up a lot of my time, especially since I have to study afterwards."
"Well, today we'll take you to Seattle to do some shopping! Shall we meet at the school entrance after lunch?" Alice suggested, receiving confirmation from the other two.
With a wave, they went their separate ways to their classes.
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
As she had expected, her day with the two Cullens had been one of Evelyn's best days in Forks so far. They had gone through all the stores in the mall, and even after Evelyn bought a scarf, Rosalie and Alice had insisted on buying her a warm coat. After much insistence, Evelyn finally agreed. The two had also bought some things for themselves and left the store when it was already dark, all holding huge bags.
Rose and Eve laughed at a joke Alice had made, the three of them having become very close friends that afternoon. On their way to the car, they saw the rest of the Cullen siblings, except for Edward. Jasper, Emmett, and Lucas were leaning against a black Volvo, arms crossed over their chests and waiting for the girls. The two vampires hurried to get to their boyfriends, while Evelyn followed a little behind with a big smile. She felt so happy. She had met so many people who were already so important to her in such a short time.
Jasper walked over to her, offering to carry the bags. Evelyn handed them to him, watching him put them in the trunk of his car. "You girls had fun?"
"So much fun! We have to do it again!" Alice exclaimed. Evelyn giggled, and Jasper was sure it was the most beautiful sound he had ever heard. It sounded like an angel singing, he would do anything to hear Evelyn giggle again.
"Well, maybe we'll go in my car and Jasper can drive Evelyn home." Rosalie said, the other agreeing. After saying goodbye with a hug to both Rosalie and Alice, Eve got in Jasper's car.
The two of them were silent, but it was comforting. Music blared through the car as Jasper drove, his attention intent on the road.
"We have a history test next week." The vampire broke the silence, glancing at the girl in the passenger seat. "If you want, I can help you study like we talked about."
"That would be great! Would you like tomorrow? I have to work, but then we could go to my place," she offered. But when Jasper didn't respond immediately, she began to ramble. "Or not. It's up to you. Whenever you want, really. I just made that suggestion, but you can say no—"
"Evelyn." He interrupted her speech with a chuckle. The way he said her name gave her chills. "Tomorrow would be fine. Your parents don't mind if I go to your house?"
"I live alone. So maybe around five o'clock?"
Jasper nodded. The two didn't speak again during the drive, both lost in their thoughts. When they arrived at Evelyn's house, Jasper gripped the steering wheel tighter. The house was quite old, and didn't seem to be in the best condition. He tried not to show on his face the emotions he felt when he saw where his mate lived. She deserved to live in a castle, not here.
He would give her anything she wanted.

Wild hearts
Jasper Hale x original character
Summary: When a new girl arrives at Forks, she seems to catch Jasper Hale's attention. However, he and his family are hiding a secret. What they don't know is that Evelyn has a secret of her own
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7 | Chapter 8
Evelyn enjoyed the cold weather. Unlike many people living in Forks, the clouds covering the sun brought a sense of calm, as did the constant sound of rain falling aggressively on the ground. This was what she needed, something constant. After her busy, dangerous and somewhat traumatic life, she finally decided to escape and settle down somewhere. Forks seemed like the ideal place for her.
She managed to rent a small house with the money she had saved over time. The conditions were not the best, the floor creaked, the house was cold and some of the walls were cracked, but that house was hers. The first thing she had all to herself.
She was going to attend Forks High School, which was a 10-minute walk from her house, which was ideal since Evelyn didn't have a car. Although it was essential, she was a little afraid of driving, fearing she would get distracted on the road, so she decided to spend the money she had left on other things, such as warm clothes that she would certainly need in this Forks weather.
So, on the first day of school, Evelyn got up from her warm bed against her will, and hurried to get ready. She left the house and started her walk, taking the opportunity to observe the town and its inhabitants, who were also starting their mornings and heading to work.
Evelyn's body was shivering in the cold temperature and she was sure her lips were turning blue, even with all the layers of clothes she had. It was a big temperature change, since Evelyn had lived in warm places her whole life.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a police car start to slow down next to her. The owner rolled down the window and Eve could tell it was Chief Swan, who had already introduced himself to her when he saw her moving into her new house.
"Morning, Chief." She smiled despite the cold. "Beautiful day, right?"
"Evelyn, you're freezing! Get in, I'll give you a ride to school." the man offered, looking worriedly at the girl who had red cheeks and nose from the cold, and her lips were turning slightly blue.
Evelyn thought about declining the offer, not wanting to give Charlie any trouble, but her body was yearning to warm up. She got into the car, immediately sighing in relief when she realized the heater was on. "Thank you."
"You need to buy some warm clothes. Forks can be even colder than this." Charlie warned, making the rest of the way to school.
Eve frowned slightly, she didn't have much more money for that. And, anyway, the cold could be comforting, reminding her that she had managed to change the already set destiny of her life. "I have to check that out. Do you know of any place where they might be hiring people?"
Charlie glanced at the girl. So young and already worried about money. "I think the dinner I go to is looking for a waitress. I can talk to the owner for you."
"Thank you, Chief Swan. That would be very helpful!" she smiled. Charlie was surprised, even with Evelyn's seemingly difficult life, she always had a smile on her lips.
Arriving at Forks High School, Evelyn got out of the car with a wave to Charlie. Immediately, all the attention of the students was on Evelyn. It wasn't something new for the girl, she was more than used to people going into a kind of trance when they observed her beauty. Not wanting to show her discomfort, she walked to the entrance of the school with a sigh as people made way for her to enter. It was going to be a long day, she thought.
However, she didn't notice the group watching her from their cars. The Cullen family, with the exception of Alice and Jasper, were looking curiously at the new student.
"Looks like you have competition, babe." Emmett chuckled.
"Shut up, Emmett." His wife rolled her eyes, lightly slapping the vampire's arm. "Let's go inside before we're late."
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
The classes went relatively well. She sat down in the first row next to Angela, a nice girl, although a little shy. Soon after, the rest of her group of friends rushed to meet her. Evelyn hadn't yet figured out if Jessica, Angela's friend, liked her, but she preferred not to think too much about it. Mike Newton and some other boys also rushed to talk to her, asking her several questions to the point of giving her a headache. Angela noticed how uncomfortable Evelyn was, despite everything, keeping a smile on her face, and looked away from the questioning. Evelyn thanked her with a relieved smile, and spent the rest of the morning glued to the brunette.
Finally, it was time for lunch. Evelyn sat at the table with the group of friends, remaining silent but nodding when she felt it was necessary, since she didn't know exactly what they were talking about. The cafeteria echoed with the sound of students talking excitedly, happy to finally have some time off from boring classes.
But suddenly, a silence fell over the room. Evelyn looked up from her food with a frown, trying to figure out what was happening. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a group of people entering. She glanced at them, but immediately noticed the common features between them: an almost inhuman beauty, pale skin and eyes of exactly the same color.
"Why are they all quiet?" the girl asked confused.
"Those are the Cullens." Jessica immediately informed, looking at them intensely. She had her chin resting on her hand, a sigh escaping her pink lips.
"And?" Evelyn rolled her eyes discreetly, returning her focus to her food. She wasn't going to stare at the Cullens like most people did these days, she knew what it was like to have unwanted attention and she wasn't going to do the same.
"First of all, they're all together, like together together."
"Hmm, I didn't know there was another kind of together." Evelyn hummed. The Cullens, already seated at the table, chuckled slightly at the girl's disinterest in hearing Jessica tell her everything she knew about their lives.
"Who is she?" Jasper found himself asking unconsciously, his gaze locked on the girl who nodded along with everything Jessica said sarcastically. Her dark blonde hair fell in waves down her back, and her blue eyes met his amber ones for a mere second. But that moment was all it took for him to realize who she was.
"I don't believe it." Edward shook his head, having read his brother's thoughts.
"What is it?" Rose asked impatiently.
"She's Jasper's mate." Edward blurted out, ignoring the glare Jasper immediately sent him. "But it's weird, I can't hear her thoughts. It's like a constant static that prevents me from hearing what she's thinking." He continued, clearly frustrated.
"And her blood, focus!" Alice exclaimed with a smile. She grabbed her blonde best friend's arm. "Jasper, her blood! It's not tempting, she just smells good. It's kind of calming."
Now that Alice had spoken, the rest of the vampires tried to focus solely on the girl, ignoring the smell of blood from the other students. They all looked at each other in shock.
"It's true." Jasper muttered in shock. It was impossible not to have a smile form on his lips. "I don't feel the need to drink her blood. And now, I don't even care about the others anymore."
"Awe, this is so cute! I'm so happy! What a shame I didn't see her appear in my visions." Alice frowned, but smiled when Lucas, her boyfriend, put his arm around her shoulders.
"Look at you, brother." Lucas teased Jasper. "In a matter of seconds she already won your heart."
"How is this possible? We have to tell Carlisle." Rosalie said immediately. But deep down, she was relieved that Jasper had finally found his mate. He had been alone for too long. And the fact that her scent didn't affect vampires could mean that her family wouldn't be in danger.
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
The rest of the week went well. Everytime Charlie saw her walking to the school, he offered her a ride. And on one of those occasions, he had told her that if she wanted the job, it was hers. So the next day she went to dinner at The Carver Café to find out when she could start. Luckily, the waitress there, Molly, was very helpful and explained everything to Evelyn. Now, she would have to go there some days after school and some weekends too.
The girl also became closer to Angela and even Jessica, who after getting over the brief feeling of envy she felt towards Evelyn, was a pleasant person to talk to.
But the Cullens were acting strange. Evelyn noticed the looks they gave her during the day, despite trying to be discreet. But Evelyn had been trained her whole life to notice the smallest details, and that didn't go unnoticed. Nor did their unusual ways of acting, and Evelyn felt like she knew what they were. However, she didn't want to get involved in other people's secrets, because she was also protecting one. On top of that, she didn't know if she could trust them. Although she felt a strange connection to the blond boy, whose name she remembered was Jasper.
She was closing the her locker, after taking out all the books she needed for her boring English class, when she dropped one. But before she could catch it, a pale hand was already there.
Evelyn looked up, finding Alice Cullen in front of her, as well as Lucas, who stood behind her like a bodyguard.
"Hi, Evie! Can I call you that?" When the dark blonde nodded, the brunette continued. "Great! Oh, I'm Alice and this is my boyfriend Lucas."
"It's nice to meet you both." Evelyn smiled, her cheeks turning slightly pink. A boy, with his group of friends, who was passing by them almost tripped over his own feet when he saw the girl's breathtaking smile.
However, the boys hurried to leave when they saw Lucas's deadly look, as well as Jasper's, who was pretending to go to his locker just a few meters away from Evelyn and his siblings.
"Well, thanks for the help." Evelyn turned her attention back to the conversation they were having, embarrassed that the Cullens had seen that.
"No problem at all! What class are you having now?"
"Hmm, I have English. Actually, I have to get going, you know she doesn't like it when someone arrives late and I don't want to be on the receiving end of her anger." Eve chuckled.
"Wait!" Alice exclaimed. Lucas didn't even try to hide his smirk, already knowing what his hyperactive girlfriend was going to do. "Jasper has that class now too. You guys can go together! Where is he? Oh, there he is!" she said when she saw him right behind them, making a hand signal for him to come closer. She winked at him.
"Oh, no need, don't worry." Evelyn tried to get away from the situation. Quite honestly, she still hadn't figured out why she felt that way about Jasper, who she didn't even know from anywhere. Besides, she didn't want an awkward silence to form while they walked to class.
"Nonsense, you both go to the same class, you can walk together! See you later!"
"Shall we, darling?" Jasper asked as soon as the couple left. Evelyn thought she might faint at the sound of the blond's accent. She looked down, hoping her hair would hide her slightly red face at the nickname.
"Sure, lead the way."
"So, are you enjoying Forks?" the vampire tried to start a conversation. His brain was about to short-circuit, his mate was so close to him. He could feel her emotions, and her vanilla scent was like a drug to him, in the best possible way.
"I've been really enjoying it actually. I'm living with Chief Swan, and he's been really nice to me. And contrary to what most people might believe, I do enjoy this weather."
"A nice change around here I see. Most people are hoping for a sunny day." Jasper said, a little disappointed that they were getting to class. He wanted more time to talk to her.
"Have you and your family been here long?" she asked after thanking him when Jasper opened the door for her and let her in first. Thankfully, the teacher wasn't there yet.
"We moved in about a year ago. My dad's a doctor at the hospital."
"Your dad seems to be a great person." Evelyn looked around, seeing Angela sitting alone at the table, staring in shock at Evelyn and Jasper. "My friend is over there, I'll sit with her if you don't mind."
"Of course." he nodded.
"Thank you for walking with me. It was nice meeting you." she smiled, receiving one back.
As soon as she sat down next to Angela, she was bombarded with questions. She looked at the boy one last time, surprised when she realized that he had never stopped looking at her.
