A quick reminder, because apparently people don't know how to read:
Elain didn't abandon Nesta.
Nesta abandoned Elain. Over and over and over again. Going so far as to bypass her and pretend not to see her at the market.
Elain and Cassian were the two people who tried and tried and tried again. And kept trying. Even when they knew that it wouldn't lead anywhere.
Name ONE gift that Nesta gave Elain or Cassian. It's okay, I'll wait. None. You are right. None. On the other hand, I can name every gift that they gave her.
Not 'understanding' that Elain cried when she saw Nesta at HOW over Nesta not getting better isn't because Elain is malicious, or resentful, or cruel. It's because Elain is watching someone she LOVES languishing. It's not because 'oh, it's been two weeks and she isn't getting better!' It's because there is no progress. She knows it will take time, but it doesn't mean that it's not hard on her. Why should we only see one side of the equation? The same people who claim that Feyre is an unreliable narrator, for some reason feel that Nesta is 100% reliable? Addiction or illness don't just impact the addict or the sick person. It impacts everyone around them. It's often families and friends who bear the brunt of the burden.
Nesta only felt anger. Elain felt sorrow.
That people don't understand this and the nuance of how Nesta's situation was absorbed and handled by each sister is kind of concerning.

Feyre’s better than me because I woulda cut Nesta off way sooner and skipped the whole “rehab” thing altogether.
Because fuck you, you’re gonna steal MY money, talk shit on MY family, emotionally abuse ME, and then act like YOU’RE the victim. Hell no, turns out, being high lady has a certain amount of sway.
Feyre was so nice because I would’ve stopped paying her bills, told every bar in town to quit servicing her and told her to get a fucking job because if you’re gonna be spending money like that you better make damn fucking sure its your money and not mine. You got me all the way fucked up.

I disliked the idea of Elucien ever since I read the thoughts Lucien had about Elain. Nothing about them felt romantic. In fact, a lot of it made me uncomfortable.
Like…
"She’d seen him not as a High Lord’s seventh son, but as a male. Had loved him without question, without hesitation. She had chosen him. Elain had been … thrown at him.”
“Mine. You are mine, and I am yours. Mate.”
“Another male’s ring, another marker that she was claimed—”
How is this romantic? In Lucien’s thoughts, Elain comes across more like a possession than a person.
And then people have the audacity to say Azriel feels entitled to Elain, but they defend this? I honestly don’t get it.
What Lucien says doesn’t read as love. It reads as entitlement. He never even calls Elain by her name. It’s always “my mate”.

PREACH
Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that it is, but in my romance books, I really really really need the guy to be OBSESSED. Like obsessed. Even if he is mean, he is still obsessed with her. Even if he is imperfect, he is still obsessed with her. He lives and breathes her. She is his sole reason for doing great and horrible things. I want the possibility of him giving everything up for her. His peace. His skin. His well-being. His station. His happiness. His life.
I need Rhysand-level love. Rowan. I want that man to go in with a knife and skin someone alive for hurting her. I want Darius Acrux, who will exchange his life for less than a year of happiness with her. I am sorry, but I want the obsession of Bella and Edward. I want the devotion of Luthien and Beren. I want Lorcan.
Does anyone feel that from Lucien towards Elain?
Truly. Bond. No bond. Does anyone feel that Lucien will lay down his life for Elain?
Doesn't anyone feel 'I am getting her back' energy from Lucien?
That's why I want Elriel.
Because I want to drown. I want to drown in that love. And I don't want to come up for air.

If nothing between Elain and Az existed, I’d see the potential of that line too. But in the real context of the story, it’s completely overshadowed by all the more plentiful and more meaningful Elriel moments. It’s like stepping over hundred dollar bills to pick up pennies
In a way, I get where they are excited about the shadowsinger line and thinks that it points to endgame. But what happened after that? The blood right where Az was more concerned about Eris than Gwyn while Cassian is losing his mind over Nesta.

Peace and Quiet
Azriel loves the beach. He loves the sun, first and foremost, the brightness, the warmth, the way it burns his skin, the way it makes her freckles pop, the way peaches taste when still warm from the branch.
He loves the softness of the sand beneath his feet, how painfully hot it gets under the blazing rays.
But most of all, he loves the sea. The ever changing colors, the teal and the turquoise, the periwinkle blues, the gold-tipped waves. He likes the sound of the sea, the lapping of water over his feet, and the sparkling path that the setting sun leaves upon the surface.
He sneaks to Summer Court as often as he can. There are secluded beaches there, which he found upon his travels. There, he can swim and sunbathe without anyone gawking at him. His wings aren’t strange, and if anyone recognizes him, then they don’t show it. If he has the time, he rents out a small white house, where he sleeps, watches the sun rise above the pristine waters, drinks wine, eats fish that he buys from the fishermen. They know him. They never see his shadows, so he isn’t known as ‘the shadowsinger’. Only as an Illyrian.
One day, he takes her there.
It’s not planned.
She is in the kitchen, waxing poetic about an apricot tart that she’d eaten in her childhood and that she never forgot. He listens, because whatever she says is somehow interesting to him. Or maybe it’s just her voice. The lilting nature of it reminds him of the sea.
He grabs her hand and winnows. The scream dies in her throat by the time they land.
It’s awkward. He is usually not this impulsive. But they are in the tiny garden next to the whitewashed house. There is an apricot tree, heavy with fruits. Dumbly, he mutters ‘apricots. For the tart.’
The tart is forgotten.
There is nothing more beautiful to him than the look of awe and love on her face when she looks at the emerald sea. He remembers that she is a merchant’s daughter, and that the sea is in her blood.
Without a word, she unbuttons her dress. It’s summer, it’s light, and it falls around her feet with a whisp. He is flabbergasted. He just watches her toss her silky undergarments off and whether he is hallucinating or not, he isn’t sure, but he is quite positive that he is watching her walk naked into the sea.
And just like that, the sea becomes an even more magical place.
He doesn’t hesitate. He tears off his own clothes and he is so impatient that he flies the short distance between the house and the water. He dives in loudly and messily. She laughs, watching him.
The sun is warm. Her freckles pop. Her brown eyes are the color of coffee. Her golden brown hair shine in the sun.
Peace and quiet.
Azriel is happy.
For the first time in his life, he is happy. He reckons that there is something that he loves even more than the sea.
Elain.

Elriel proof# 48563947
I truly believe elain and azriel have shown real mate behaviour towards each other. Elain, as scared as she, was attacked a horrific beast to protect az. It’s not always the man protecting his woman.
Another sign of mate behaviour Elain displayed was sensing Azriel’s pain/headaches. It parallels Nestas sensing Cassian was injured when no one else did in acowar.

DAAAAAAAMN. What a catch!! Do you think they did this on purpose??? What a boon 🤣🤣
When listening to the new ACOTAR audiobooks this morning, some of my fandom friends and I noticed Elizabeth misread a part of ACOSF during chapter 58:
Elizabeth said, “Why did you come if he torments you so much?”
But in the book, it says, “Why did you come if it torments you so much?”
Tumblr media
This subtle switch from “it” to “he” shows that Elizabeth realizes Azriel is clearly bothered by Lucien. Why? Because of his mating bond with Elain. The bonus chapter confirms this, but to this day, I still see antis deny this simple fact.
Tumblr media
Azriel is not bothered by the fire or Mor. He is not tormented by all mated pairs. He is not desperate for a mate. Azriel is tormented by HIM. The man mated to the woman he longs for. He is desperate for ELAIN.

Elriel Month // Free Day
Tumblr media
For my final Elriel Month commission, I wanted a piece where they were, quite simply, happy and content together. Like many Elriels, I've always gravitated toward the image of Elain clinging to Azriel "just to have some peace and quiet." In a chaotic world, I love the thought of them finding refuge in each other.
And happy Elriel Month to everyone! It always amazes me every year just how fast May flies by. Each time, I am blown away by all the art and writing and creativity on display. We may not have our Elriel book yet, but I love the little community we've built during this endless wait.

Do you guys ever think that Lucien saying that he would like to see Elain to find out if she’s worth fighting for and then him leaving to live far away from her and not wanting to be associated with her by saying that he’s not always in Velaris for his mate…means he didn’t think she was worth it for him? Cause I think that.

Lucien barely rules himself. “Overqualified” is funny.
The same exact people who say that Feyre doesn’t deserve to be High Lady because she lacks experience blah blah blah somehow then go on to make the wild claim that Lucien should be High King. Astounding.

Some people really think Lucien is more powerful than Azriel? That he could actually win the Blood Duel if it happens?
Do they mean this Lucien?:
Tumblr media
Or this one:
Tumblr media
Love him, hate him, I don't give a fuck, honestly. But the problem, which is one of the most notorious problems in this sickening fandom, is ignoring what's in the books and creating an imaginative version of each character in their minds and having the audacity to argue over it. But it doesn't change that Lucien (a High Lord's son) is a scared chicken in front of Azriel.

Tamlin ruined his own court, absolutely!!! And it’s not very feminist to see a man’s own actions resulting in his own dire consequences and excusing him in favor of blaming a woman. Somehow, with Rhys and feyre it’s always “Rhys is centuries old and feyres a teenager”, but with Tamlin, Tamlin is innocent and blameless in things he himself did.
I Don't Hate Feyre, but Let Me Be Honest
I know some of my posts might come off like I hate Feyre. But the truth is: I don’t hate her. Well I don’t particularly love or like her either.
What I do hate are her actionsn and what was done to her.
When people say ACOMAF is their favorite book, I just can’t relate. For me, it’s the least favorite in the series. I went in expecting an epic love story. What I got instead was manipulation dressed as romance.
I’m a feminist. A loud one.
An aggressive one, even. And as a feminist, I can’t turn a blind eye to what happened to Feyre.
This is a teenage girl being mentally and emotionally manipulated by a centuries-old man known for his mind control. That’s not empowerment. That’s grooming.
You want me to believe that a woman who was sexually assaulted—a woman who was forced to wear body-revealing clothes for months, traumatized by it, is now suddenly fine doing the exact same thing willingly... for the same man?
I'm sorry, but that doesn’t track. She went from being his puppet to playing his perfect whore without any believable emotional recovery in between.
And in ACOWAR? That was the breaking point for me. She dragged an entire court, an entire people down!! out of nothing but stupid revenge!! The same citizens she claimed she wanted to help. To protect. To die for.
Then ACOSF sealed it. Rhysand hides a life-threatening pregnancy from her, controls everything, and she… forgives him? Just like that?
How can I convince myself this isn’t long-term mind manipulation? How can I watch this unfold and still call it love?
So no I don’t hate Feyre. I pity her.
Because the worst part is: she doesn’t even know she’s being controlled.
