Okay but what's really cool is that you can see these artists really studied the performance aspects of Kpop. The way the promo video is filmed. The variety shows, the fashion of Huntrix, and especially the performance of Saja Boys (since we saw more of their performance whereas we saw the fighting aspect more for huntrix). I mean they really really nailed the performance aspect.
Like in soda pop; the debut was refreshing fresh and charming therefore the gazes were softer—the part where Abs guy brings down his collar for a second for the "refreshing" part of the lyrics— that would actually be a well thought out choreography in real life (reminscent of Txt, Tws, BND, NCT dream, Riize, and Pentagon in their early days).
And then their second song—Your Idol—was darker and therefore their gazes changed (hungrier and sensous) and their moves were sharper (with literal claws). Kpop HAS that duality in gaze. And especially when the rapper (Baby Saja?) brings his claws down his face for the "fame made me viral" part? Adlib definitely (reminscent of Ateez, Enhypen, Monsta X, Stray Kids, Seventeen, The boyz, Onlyoneof, Pentagon, Exo, NCT and Big Bang—especially in the rap aspects—and Got7). THEY REALLY NAILED IT.
TELL ME HOW AI CAN REPLICATE THIS. THAT'S WHY HUMAN ARTISTS WILL ALWAYS BE SUPERIOR

KPop Demon Hunters was so good! I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It's steeped in kpop and kdrama culture - there were so many references where I was crying laughing. And the music was so GOOD. The little sequence they did of the "Golden" music video felt like a real kpop release. Even the weakest of the songs was a bop. I demand a soundtrack release! And the animation was stellar; not afraid to exaggerate for comedic effect and beautiful everywhere else.
I wish there had been a bit more fleshing out of Rumi's backstory, particularly her mother and how exactly Rumi came to be. But all of the characters were great and so full of personality. I love that even within this world Huntr/x as a group makes sense, because there are so many groups that have lore concepts. They absolutely tell their fans they hunt demons and pass it off as their concept.
Also Lee Byung Hun voiced Gwi-Ma?! My jaw dropped at that credit whaaat!
I loved it and I really hope it gets a sequel 🫰

I took my little brother (autistic, mostly non verbal) out and he was using his voice keyboard to tell me something, and this little boy (maybe 4 or 5?) heard him and asked me "Is he a robot??" I tried to explain to him that no, he isn't a robot, he just communicates differently, but my darling brother was in the background max volume "I am robot I am robot I am robot I am robot"

Dreary day in Seattle. It's a perfect day to curl up on the couch and play cozy games all day, especially after the week I've had. I think I started grinding my teeth in my sleep from stress; my teeth have been hurting on the right side for a couple days.

COZY GAMES ARE MEANT TO BE A LITTLE DARK
I keep getting videos on YouTube that talk about how cozy games are secretly not cozy because they have dark elements to them like the war in Stardew.
Apparently this is somehow meant to ruin the coziness? I hate to break it to you but THATS THE POINT.
These games do not exist in a cozy vacuum where nothing bad happens ever. That would frankly be a terrible game and an even worse story. Cozy games are not cozy in SPITE of their dark elements they are cozy BECAUSE of them.
In Stardew yes there's a war, and people have dysfunctional relationships and that's the point! you're in a shitty town living on a shitty farm but you're there to help. you make friendships, and you fix your farm, and you leave the town a little better than when you found it.
In Palia you're living under an oppressive government and everyone has lots of problems. Some people are just struggling to be a single parent, others are on the run from a cartel. It's not light and cheery! but you get to help these people as you work to find your place in the world. I could go on for hours about other games but I think these examples are enough to drive home what I'm going to say next. COZY GAMES ARE ABOUT COMMUNITY, LOVE, AND FRIENDSHIP.
You don't expect your real life friends and communities to be conflict free. Bonds are built on the back of hardship. Lifting each other up. Loving each other and being kind when things are hard.
villagers in both games give me advice on how to do what I need to so I can fix up my property and start life in their town, They send me gifts they think will help with my projects. And in turn I give them a relationship they need. I'm an understanding friend for Linus, or an open ear for Najuma.
WE SUPPORT EACHOTHER IN HARD TIMES.

I jumped back into Palia on a fresh new account. Right now I have New Life Sim Fever where I'm getting through the intro quests and trying to improve my tools. I even logged on for an hour this morning to play before work. It may be me misremembering but it did seem easier to upgrade from the tent to the basic house this time.
Another immediate improvement is the cosmetic shop. This is Palia's only monetization and I remember at the start the prices were ridiculous. It was absolutely keeping people from buying anything. Now if I continue to enjoy the game I won't mind throwing a few bucks their way to support the game.
Also I'm satisfied to know that I still do well with hunting on a controller. That was my main money-making activity last time. 🏹
