Where in the novel is it shown WWX LOVES JC lmao? You are absolutely delusional 😅 JC literally went around torturing and murdering innocent people he suspected they might be WWX... He wasn't crying himself to sleep at night lmao! The only drivel here is yours 🤣
I feel like a lot of people who babify wwx and think jc is the devil incarnate either forget or ignore how much wwx LOVES jiang cheng lmao. The man cries himself to sleep cause he misses him and wackos will still say he's glad to be free of him finally or whatever drivel they've come up with this time

Yeah! You're right! What DO you mean?
JCs home wasn't burnt down in the novel 😅 only in certain adaptations.
JC didn't build up his clan by himself, WWX was a MAJOR part of that and the text tells us as such...
His parents died to save JC - not WWX (who no one saw as family other than JYL). WWX was told (order!) to look after JC no matter what, to die trying if he had to (YZYs orders). They weren't saving WWX in the slightest - even to JFM, WWX was only an afterthought... Someone he told to "look after JC".
They weren't brothers either - hence why MXTX literally showed us as such with how they address one another.
Yes, he found his parents dead and watched his sister sacrifice herself to save the man she considered a brother, dying right in front of his eyes. But WWX also lived through that, did he not? He lost people over and over again. Yet he's not a massive cunt is he? Nope.
JC didn't raise his nephew all alone either... It's clearly stated in the novel that JL spends half his time at Golden Carp Tower. JGY helps to raise him just as much as JC - if not MORE because he doesn't physically abuse JL like JC does. JC beats JL, he slaps him so hard he falls to the ground. For barely any reason at all. He did such a shit job "raising" his nephew JL runs head first into danger, risking his life, not caring if he dies as long as he proves his worth to his emotionally constipated, abusive uncle. JC literally turned JL into everything he accused (because WWX wasn't, JC just always said as such because he was jealous) WWX of! He filled his nephew full of hatred and lies - not telling him how JYL sacrificed her life to save WWX because she loved him. He shat all over her memory and final wish because he's a total selfish asshole.
Trauma be damned! WWX has trauma, most of the bloody characters in MDZS have some form of trauma! Does it excuse JCs actions? No. No it doesn't.
JC intentionally murdered innocent people. Because he is selfish and resentful.
He organised a siege to kill WWX - making his sister's sacrifice totally pointless and disrespecting her wish to save him.
JCs character is angry and hateful... But he's also jealous, homophobic, abusive, selfish and feels inadequate in the eyes of his father.
But he's always been that way, even BEFORE the trauma he faced. It's just who he is! It's his character! Yes, he felt pressure from his mother, he felt his father was dissatisfied with him as an heir - but JC never did anything to try and prove him wrong either, he just expected him to lavish him with praise for being self-centered and dishonourable. His personality sucks balls, so much so no one wanted to be his friend or date him! Even his nephew is scared of him - he hides at Golden Carp Tower for fear JC would beat him.
Yes, JC has trauma... But that doesn't give him an automatic pass to be an absolute asshole who isn't loyal, doesn't care about others sacrifices or any debt he may owe. His personality is terrible, to the point he only had puppies as companions when he was younger. So much so, his father had to find him someone to play with, or he would have been even more lonely and bitter. JYL experienced much of the same trauma as he did - but she still chose love and forgiveness even at the very end. People need to stop glazing over JCs awful characteristics and using trauma as an excuse.
Jiang Cheng makes me so sick. What do you mean his entire home was burnt down to the ground. What do you mean he had to rebuild it piece by piece with his own hands because his parents died to save him and his brother. What do you mean he had to watch as his whole family died one by one. What do you mean he had to raise his nephew alone while also juggling trauma and a whole sect to run. What do you mean he has haters who will absolutely ruin his character and write him up as someone who is JUST angry and hateful to Wei Wuxian and everyone who’s just unfortunate enough to be at the receiving end of it

JC stans...
"You can't comprehend the pain and suffering Jiang Cheng must have felt for his beloved dead brother, Wei Wuxian. He kept Chenqing all those years because he missed him so much! It's why he never got any dogs after he'd gone! To ensure, if by some miracle, his brother came back from the dead, he still had a place at Lotus Pier, that he still felt welcome at the place he called home. Urgh, Jiang Cheng is sooo thoughtful!"
Meanwhile, over in canon...
JC wants to murder WWX with his own two hands so badly that he's gone completely insane. Hunting down anyone that remotely resembles his disobedient subordinate in the hopes of catching him back from the dead, just so he can finally kill him himself.
Keeps Chenqing as bait in the hopes Wei Wuxian will come looking for his spiritual weapon and he can capture, torture and eventually murder him.
Never really cared about getting any more dogs and uses Wei Wuxian's fear of them to torture him when he finally manages to capture him.
Literally knocked down Wei Wuxian's residence at Lotus Pier and built something else there instead 😅
Mmm... Yeah, sure. Sounds like JC was really hoping WWX would return to LP lmfao.

Literally nowhere in the text does it state WWXs cultivation disturbs the dead. That's completely and utterly wrong. WWXs cultivation is actually far less invasive than some techniques even the rest of the cultivation world use. He doesn't "pull them back" from anywhere, they're trapped on earth full of resentment and unable to move on. His method actually helps them move on and end their suffering...
MDZS prompt #2: The Lans can hear the balance of the world between the dead and the living, which is why they are the most disturbed by WWX's cultivation which calls awake the dead. They can communicate with the dead as well, but without yanking them out of the place they are supposed to be and in a far more peaceful manner, without disturbing the rest of the dead, while WWX yanks them out of place to communicate or talk to them.

While you're correct that WWX looked nothing like MXY, WWX was very much a bad actor whilst he pretended to be MXY 🤣
He literally acted as himself! Albeit slightly camped up and a little more wild - but that was just WWX finally letting his hair down and being 100% himself for the first time ever, now he has no status or restraints holding him back.
Even so, bad actor or not, JC only suspected him because he suspected anyone who used ghost cultivation and then WN arrived and it was a given! As soon as Zidian's ability confirms "MXY" isn't possessed by WWX, he no longer suspects him and just wants to torture him regardless. He later recognised him because of his fear of dogs. But overall, JC didn't truly know WWX that well at all and we see examples of this throughout. JC literally thought WWX would actually possess someone! The complete opposite of what WWX would actually do.
Whereas LWJ only recognised him because he played Wangxian - I do think he would have picked up on his likeness very soon after if this wasn't the case and LWJ was still able to spend time with him. LWJ is perhaps the only person to truly see and understand WWX completely. He listened to all of his bullshit, hung on his every word and committed his every move to memory - which we see examples of in the extras.
That being said, I do think WWX can act when he takes it seriously. After all, he managed to hide behind his YLLZ persona to keep people from finding out he no longer possessed a golden core.
Something that's always kinda peeved me is when ppl forget Wei Wuxian looks nothing like mo Xuanyu. Like it's part of the reason no one really deeply suspected to because why would the evil yiling laozu take a poor, cutsleeve as a host? And wwx wasn't that bad of an actor. It's only bc he kept running into ppl that knew him the most that he was ever suspected.

Just seen someone claim JC was equal to LWJ in skill and strength... Not sure where they gleaned that from the novel!
Jiang Cheng loathed being at a disadvantage in a fight, so unless victory was absolutely certain, attacking Lan Wangji was not within the realm of consideration.
- 7S
Even JC wasn't confident he'd win lmao 😂

See how people would call wwx morally grey, dumb and oblivious and won't tag it 'anti wwx' even tho they have no text evidence to fall back on but if we call jc a miserable and ungrateful asshole that abuses his nephew which is infact supported by canon we are "antis".

For those that keep saying I don't hit Jin Ling...
I definitely do slap him about - the donghua and other adaptations might not have had the BALLS to show it, but the novel sure does.
You guys should read it some time 👍🏼
For visual reference, it looks like this:

But I'm not wearing a dress, because that would be gay... And...well... I'm homophobic as fuck.

I mean... JC literally asked WWX to kneel before his parents in the ancestral hall near the beginning of the novel...
Jiang Cheng said, “‘Just’ what? Can’t you continue? That’s fine. You can return to Lotus Pier, kneel before my parents’ altar, and say it slowly.”
Tamming Wangxian, chapter 24
So...propriety aside, JC told WWX to do so anyway! It astounds me how many people complain that the very act of WWX even visiting the ancestral hall was disrespectful, when it's the exact opposite. What transpires thereafter is of course very much so, but how can people blame him and LWJ for that when it was JC stopping them from leaving?!
What finally pushes Wei Wuxian into a qi deviation isn’t the fact that Jiang Cheng showed up to hate-crime him and Lan Wangji, but the fact that Wei Wuxian showed up with the best of intentions—informing his dead guardians of his intentions to marry—just to be goaded into attacking their son in front of their tablets, the highest form of disrespect he could’ve performed in front of them. That Jiang Cheng could drag him down to such a level as to engage in something so disrespectful when Wei Wuxian showed up specifically to pay his respects is why it should not surprise anyone that Wei Wuxian’s last thoughts on Lotus Pier is that he wants to leave and never return:
It was only proper to show respect for the deceased. After all, they were at an ancestral hall.
...
Jiang Cheng was exactly who Wei WuXian had wanted to avoid; the last person he wanted to be seen by. Now that Jiang Cheng had found him, he knew he probably couldn’t escape fast enough without having harsh words flung his way. Wei WuXian didn’t want to start any unnecessary conflict, so he said, “I didn’t bring HanGuang-Jun anywhere that contained the Lotus Pier’s secrets. I’m just here to offer a few incense sticks to Uncle Jiang and Madam Yu. We are just leaving.”
—Chapt. 87: Core (Part 9), boat-full-of-lotus-pods
He turned to Jiang Cheng and said, “Jiang Cheng, listen to yourself. Do you even hear what you’re saying? Don’t forget who you are. You’re the leader of a sect. To insult a fellow cultivator from one of the Four Great Sects in front of Uncle Jiang and everyone’s memorial tablets. Where are your manners?”
...
All three of them had weapons out in front of the ancestral hall now. Jiang Cheng’s eyes were bloodshot as he snarled, “Fine! If you want a fight, then let’s fight! You think I’m afraid of you two?!” But just a few strikes later, Wei WuXian remembered, startled, that they stood before the ancestral hall of the Yunmeng Jiang Sect. He had only just knelt and prayed in front of Uncle Jiang and Madam Yu for their protection a few moments ago. And now he was attacking their son with Lan WangJi right under their nose! As if a bucket of cold water had just been dumped over him, suddenly, spots appeared in front of Wei WuXian’s eyes and his vision darkened.
...
Wei WuXian did not answer him. Instead, he said, “Lan Zhan...... Let’s go.” Immediately. And never come back.
—Chapt. 88: Core (Part 10), boat-full-of-lotus-pods
Tellingly enough, Jiang Cheng does not hold the same sense of shame in the fact that he instigated a physical fight in the resting place of his ancestors nor that his intentions weren't to maintain decorum when he followed wangxian into the ancestral hall to begin with. In fact, he is fueled by rage to the point of irrationality before he even steps foot into the ancestral hall, so much so that he cannot even accept wangxian disengaging from the fight and attempting to leave on their own:
All the signs pointed to the same conclusion—there was now something more between Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi. Unable to make himself turn away or step forward to speak to them, Jiang Cheng had concealed himself and followed after them, reinterpreting their every exchange and gesture through a coloured lens. Feelings of disbelief, strangeness, and slight, mild disgust had momentarily been enough to overcome Jiang Cheng’s hatred. It was only when Wei WuXian had brought Lan WangJi into the ancestral hall that Jiang Cheng’s anger reawakened. The repressed, overwhelming rage consumed his rationality and manners.
...
Lan WangJi harbored no more desire to continue the fight with Jiang Cheng. Wordlessly, he pulled Wei WuXian onto his back and turned to leave. Jiang Cheng was plagued by alarm and suspicion. He was alarmed by the terrifying sight of blood suddenly oozing out of Wei WuXian’s qiqiao. Yet he was suspicious of whether the man was faking it for an excuse to run away. After all, it was a prank that Wei WuXian had pulled quite often in the past. At the sight of the two men leaving, Jiang Cheng called, “Stop!”

Firstly, respect is earned... Not just given outright.
And your whole argument is fundamentally flawed for the simple reasons WWX did follow JCs orders as much as he followed JFMs. There's no difference...
He allowed JC to use him as a tool, he was "showing off" at the Phoenix mountain night-hunt because JC wanted him to - he told him to do that because they were recruiting new disciples... As the whole event was meant to be. WWX was doing as he was told. Yes, JC has a go at him for not using his sword (because petty JC got his feelings hurt and was annoyed at WWX... Prior to that, he literally didn't give a fuck... Strange that 🤔)
WWX literally made himself insanely powerful FOR the Jiang clan, to extract their rightful revenge and restore their honour by doing so. He was helping JC ensure he got that revenge, otherwise JC would be disgraced.
WWX never went against JCs orders unless it went directly against what was right or his own moral code. JC ordering WWX to abandon the innocent Wen remnants (who JC owed a life debt towards for the fact he is even alive, has Zidian to prance about with and his parents ashes), but WWX refused because it was morally wrong and dishonourable NOT to pay the life debt JC owed them.
So, sorry WWX didn't blindly follow JCs orders and leave a bunch of defenceless people consisting of the weak, the old and a fucking toddler. What a bad, bad man. Tut tut tut. 😂
I have seen a lot of people that make out Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng's problems to just be Jiang Cheng's fault, but truthfully they were equally at fault.
Yes, Jiang Cheng is quick to anger and extremely jealous of Wei Wuxian so he tries to hurt Wei Wuxian in order to "bring him down to his level" so to speak (i.e. finding faults in Wei Wuxian so that he isn't always better than him).
It's also true, though, that Wei Wuxian did not respect Jiang Cheng as a leader. He never followed Jiang Cheng's orders and never gave him an explanation as to why he wasn't following his orders. He believed he should shoulder every burden alone without stopping to ask whether it was something he even needed to bear. And even though that might stem from how he was treated by Jiang Fengmian and Madam Yu and being taught that he was essentially a shield it also means that he didn't trust Jiang Cheng to share burdens with him even though Jiang Cheng was supposed to be his leader.
Because Wei Wuxian would never explain himself to Jiang Cheng, Jiang Cheng would have to come up with his own reasons that he wouldn't be obeyed which would generally be self-deprecating but also paint Wei Wuxian in a bad light making the rift between them even bigger.
If there relationship was ever going to improve, it would have needed a lot of work from both of them so people should stop blaming everything on Jiang Cheng because Wei Wuxian has faults as well even if it seems people won't address them sometimes.

When someone brings out the novel artwork as 'proof' WWXs og body didn't have scars all over his back from YZYs canonical abuse... You know you're dealing with an idiot.
Yes, the art is pretty and a nice addition. But it's not canon and it hardly depicts it either... We have artwork in the novel that shows WWX in red and black during his youth when he would have been wearing Jiang clan purple. He only starts wearing black post burial mounds escape. So that's incorrect...
We have novel art depicting WWX with glowing red eyes... Also not canonically true either. Nor are his tits ever particularly out, but most give his YLLZ era a plunge neckline so low you might be able to see the hint of his garden path if you look close enough!
If you're using mostly fan generated artwork - who have been clearly influenced by the CQL and donghua or their own personal headcanons and preferences - you're a moron and wasting my time.
“Uh, yeah,” Wei Wuxian said. He felt his back, which was LINED WITH OLD AND NEW WELTS. He couldn’t help but ask the question he’d been dwelling on. “Really, this must be the greatest injustice in all of history. Why am I always the only one getting hit whenever something happens?”
7S translation
Wei WuXian, “Uh-huh, that’s right.” He felt his back, COVERED IN SCARS BOTH OLD AND NEW, and still couldn’t hold back the question he’d be thinking about, “How awfully unfair. Why is it that I’m the only one who gets beaten up, whenever something happens?”
ExR translation
YZY whipped and abused WWX whenever she was in residence at Lotus Pier. Considering she was apparently barely there and the detailed description of new and old scars (wounds/welts*/injuries - whatever you want to fucking call it!! It's all the same!!!) we see in the extras, she must have harmed him any chance she got while she was back. We see her lashing him (and him alone!) for the most tenuous of "reasons"... The fact it states he was covered in scars both new and old shows historical abuse spanning some time - most likely since he arrived at LP at the age of nine!!!
So don't go pulling that bullshit on me when we're talking about canon FACTS. Especially when people cherry pick the text to conveniently show what they want and omit the stuff that shows they're talking from their ass.
*An English lesson for those struggling with 7S translation choice for the scars on WWXs back...
The term "welts" doesn't JUST mean a swollen bruise like mark on the skin or an itchy raised bump. It's a technical term used for injuries and scars left behind from being whipped or beaten hard and heavily with something. While I'm not a fan of their word choices, this is technically correct in the sense the marks are classified as welts as defined above.

They shouldn't be using the canon Jiang Cheng tag anyway... All the stuff they pluck from their ass is completely fabricated.
If they no longer want to use the 'Jiang Cheng' tag, may I suggest the aptly named 'Fanon Jiang Cheng' or 'Jiang Cheng bullshit' tags instead?
It seems like there's an influx of JC stans flooding into canon Jiang cheng tag.
Y'all have "Jiang cheng" tag for yourself. Too greedy just like Jins Guangshan the WR, huh?

Ah I see! I thought you meant like present as in right there haha. In that case, that is my impression also. He wouldn't want to give his clan a bad reputation after all. But I think at the point he calls to LWJ it's a safe moment to mess around a little regardless- as we later see.
It would certainly make for some interesting meta as WWX addresses LWJ differently or at least switches between his title and variations of his name - sometimes to draw a line between them in or to tease/praise him depending on when in the timeline.
You know what I find both absolutely hilarious and terribly endearing? During the archery competition when WWX calls out to LWJ he calls him "Wangji-xiong" and LWJ initially completely ignores him... Because he's huffed.
Like, how dare you casually call me by my birth name last year and then demote me to the less intimate address of "courtesy-bro"! Am I nothing to you!?! Did you just forget me over the last year?! 😤
And then the year after, during the Wen Clan's camp experience from hell (⭐ one star, would not recommend), WWX is back to casually calling him Lan Zhan again haha.

Hmmm 🤔
Tumblr media
I don't think that's the case I'm afraid. In the scene I'm referring to we aren't told there are any adults around. It seems to be all the juniors getting ready for the competition - so the adults are most likely taking their seats to watch the entertainment. And in that same scene he winds LWJ by not allowing him entry to the arena, so I don't think he's really on his best behaviour either haha. He also calls him Lan Zhan at this point as well.
I think it's more that he was trying to be on his best behaviour for LWJ, if anything. When that didn't work and he was ignored, he did the only thing he knew would get a rise out of him and wound him up. WWX seems to have a pattern of calling LWJ more formally and then becoming casual (this scene and the CR arc) and I feel its because he obviously wishes they were closer. Unconsciously pushing against that apparent barrier between them. By the time of the Wen indoctrination WWX is very much insisting they are "pretty well acquainted", regardless of LWJ's disagreeing.
You know what I find both absolutely hilarious and terribly endearing? During the archery competition when WWX calls out to LWJ he calls him "Wangji-xiong" and LWJ initially completely ignores him... Because he's huffed.

He didn't though...
He distracted someone Wen cultivators. He literally got up and ran to make them chase him. He didn't give up his life or his core. It wasn't a choice he made, he was just trying to lure them away in the hopes they could escape together. He didn't actively go "Welp, I'll just die for WWX. Take my golden core with you while you're at it." He had no intention of doing so or indeed getting caught at all. After strangling an already badly beaten WWX and blaming him for what happened even though he actually knew it wasn't his fault (and admitting so to himself no less...) only a few short hours prior... I'd say getting off his ass and distracting a few cultivators searching for them is the least he could have done tbh with you.
All these posts and subsequent fan art showing (incorrectly...) JC with multiple whip scars across his chest. The dude was hit once with his own clan's discipline whip. Just once. We're told as much on two separate occasions as well.
The first thing he noticed was the bloody WHIP WOUND across Jiang Cheng’s chest.
Whip wound - singular...
While Wei Wuxian had never experienced this particular lashing himself, Jiang Cheng had. Wei Wuxian had wracked his brain to help him lighten that humiliating MARK, but all efforts had been fruitless. Wei Wuxian would never mistake the sight of such a scar.
Mark... Also singular...
Not only was JC only whipped once, but he then had the audacity to complain about the lasting mark on his chest to WWX... You know, the kid his mother whipped for the most insignificant of reasons? Who had multiple scars all across his back from being hit with a high-class spiritual weapon that was like lightning? Yeah, him.
Literally showing and telling us WWX was physically abused on a regular basis.
I swear people just conveniently forget WWX was abused in such a way and love to make JC a martyr so that he and LWJ are "the same" by "sacrificing" so much for WWX. LWJ was whipped within an inch of his life. Thirty-three lashes of the discipline whip...and it took him three years to recover! JC mostly recovered in three days, and that was only because he was coreless! LWJ is by far stronger than JC even when they both had cores lol - there's no way JC would heal so quickly if it wasn't just one whip.
With the needle securely embedded in his head, Jiang Cheng slept for THREE DAYS. His broken bones repaired themselves and his superficial wounds smoothed over, but he was destined to never fully heal—THE LASH from the discipline whip could never be erased, and his golden core could never be recovered.
Lash - singular yet again btw...
So please, stop exaggerating his scars in an attempt to make him more "heroic" or "fragile" the dude murders people for kicks, slaps his nephew around and doesn't give a shit about an innocent toddler dying in the siege he organised ffs. Get over it lmao 🤣
