A commission I did this week for my partner’s grandma for her birthday. She wanted a painting of an angel, and her favorite color is pink, so I painted this scene with a sunrise in the background. For the halo and accents on the angel, I used metallic gold paint. Acrylic paint on 20 by 24 inch canvas.

I recently got a chance to try sugar sculpting with my partner, @fury-of-rome, for a competition. The first two pictures show what we were originally going for. When we started trying to attach the pieces, though, things started melting and shattering. We were both sleep deprived and sore from working the night before, and things didn’t go according to plan, but we managed to put something together to show the judges. I’d like to try working with sugar again sometime, but I probably won’t want to enter any sugar sculpting competitions for a while.

I'm doing a research project on Art Nouveau for my art history class, so of course I had to look at Alphonse Mucha's work! It's a beautiful style, and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Kicking off this blog with a short series I did in one of my earlier art classes.

The assignment was to draw a still life in a representational style, then abstract it and use different color schemes. The first two are chalk pastel, and the last one is oil pastel.
