Just a quick update to let you all know that the cbox has been implemented; it was removed in favour of Discord but we’ve added it back so that guests and members who are less comfortable with Discord can chat happily!

Do let us know if there are any problems and we’ll try and rectify them asap.

Do you guys not have a Cbox on the site?

Not at the moment, though our initial plan was for a cbox! We are mostly using discord (our server is here!) at the moment and felt that a cbox might be left empty as a result– however, we are considering adding it back in for guest and members who don’t use discord, and will likely implement that in the next day or so if we do.

Please feel free to pop in and out of our discord in the meantime! We don’t bite.

so i've read through all the lore, but i still don't entirely understand the whole souled vs unsouled lore: at the risk of this being a stupid question, would you guys mind going over it again for the simple minds like me xD

In layman’s terms, someone who is Souled is an #official part of the world of Irminsul--that is, they’re seen as a citizen and can participate in all sorts of things like voting, travel between the Prefectures, etc. A Soul is like a passport and an identity marker: it means you have rights and those rights are (for the most part) (in an ideal world) protected.

However, someone who is Unsouled is very much seen as not a citizen at all. They live on the fringes, generally scraping a living in the lower Prefecture of Beine, or off-world in the mining colonies and beyond, because they have little status and power within Irminsul. Travel is restricted to Beine--unless smugglers are good enough to get someone into Kyo or Herz--and they typically live a miserable life unless they’re willing to start working for a Corporation and earn their way to citizenship--another way to earn a Soul is to become an Inquisitor: it’s the same thing really--selling yourself to a corporation in order for a better life.

Very simply: if you’re Souled you’re visible and have rights; if you’re Unsouled you might as well be invisible and your life is generally thought of as/perceived to be a struggle. 

I hope this cleared it up a little! Let us know if it needs further explaining (:

Doing one of those character blurbs, meet Seneca the trashiest of trashbags: 

Second generation Artifex, he was infected with the FQV by his “sister” aka another Artifex with the same biological makeup as himself. She helped him escape, avoid detection from the Inquisitors, work his way to sentience and not go insane and basically taught him how to be a person. 

Unfortunately, Seneca turned out to be a cold, calculating individual–very intelligent–but with awful people skills. His sister was brash, charming and irascible by nature and could pass completely undetected by humans. She was also a very good manipulator. 

He and his sister, uninterested in the Artifex rebellion (or any rebellion for that matter) started running two man con schemes. They played off Seneca’s taciturn and socially awkward personality. His sister tricked the Mark into thinking Seneca WAS the mark, and that, the two of them could swindle Seneca for all he was worth, then they did the same thing to the Random Third Party.

He and his sister had an incredibly formative, meaningful friendship and Seneca owed her just not his life but also his personhood. He envied and admired her ability to trick, deceive and manipulate. She protected him from harm and he developed schemes to keep the two of them afloat. 

Eventually they amassed a small fortune and got involved in the smuggling ring. Unfortunately, they crossed the wrong person. Seneca and his sister attempted to con a well-known pirate queen, a notably merciless woman and fearless smuggler. She tricked them into coming aboard their ship and retired his sister in front of him. Seneca was allowed to escape with only his life. 

He has spent the last three years assembling an empire, brick by brick. His confidants and team are unaware that he is an Artifex and he plans to keep it that way. Now, tables turned, Seneca is known as a merciless, calculating and fearsome leader of the Adrekts gang in the Beine prefecture. His hand stretches into everything from smuggling, drug-running, the Handler’s guild, art theft to C6 racing. 

His ultimate goal is to dismantle the Queen’s empire piece by piece and he is determined to do this by any means necessary.
