In fact, the more ardent, sharp and impetuous Anakin was the complete opposite of the calmer and more reasonable Luke. In Attack of the Clones, he contradicted Obi-Wan, always got into trouble, cried and was hysterical, did not know how to flirt, was not the hero that Luke was compared to him. Therefore, the audience of that time did not accept him either as Luke's father or as Darth Vader - the dark evil Lord. They simply could not compare this crazy boy, essentially still a child, with the formidable serious warrior they imagined. In their heads most likely there was some kind of Rambo, Conan the Barbarian, Chuck Norris, He-Man, etc. Sort of like what we got in The Clone Wars - the square-jawed, super-macho action hero. For them, the image of a black figure of a Sith with a pot on his head was more familiar than the image of a boy, a former slave, burdened with the cross of chosenness, with the burden of fear of loss on his shoulders. Fans of the Original Trilogy mostly saw the surface picture without trying or wanting to look inside. To them, Vader was always the Black Lord and they did not want to accept the fact that he, too, was once a child. Someone's son, someone's friend, someone's brother, someone's husband. That he too could feel, love, fear, cry. After all, at the end of the 6th episode they showed us that under the mask there is an ordinary person. But no. They denied the image of Anakin so much that they created crazy theories that maybe Darth Vader was not Anakin Skywalker at all. And these are very, very stupid and one-sided people, in addition to their hatred of the character, they ruined the career of a child and a young guy. But they were quickly replaced by a generation of prequels, now more or less leading to harmony in the Star Wars franchise, but the vile smell from the “primitive narrow-minded OT lovers” still remains and still circulates throughout the Star Wars universe. It’s even a shame that the wonderful Original Star Wars Trilogy has such lame fans(((

I just saw a comment reacting to how Hayden Christensen finally felt welcome from fans and it said “he just had to wait for us to get older.”

And ya

I remember being 5 years old and sitting in front of the tv for a re-run of Star Wars my dad was watching and being like “wow, this guy is great 😁” and being confused why adults around me didn’t like him as Anakin (my dad did tho - Stan my dad fr fr)

Anyway

He had to wait for all those little toddlers to grow up to get the correct reaction to his character

As one of those little toddlers who grew up - Hayden, you are one of my biggest inspirations and I adore you in Star Wars <3
