Speaking of Pokémon manga does anyone remember reBURST? You know…

The one where they combine with Pokémon? That one?

Pokespe has been both super great or meh depending on arc 🤔 Loved the Ruby and Sapphire arc. While the characterization was very different with the protags they did it super well and the story was full of turn page drama (could do without Emerald, sorry pokespe fam).

Loved loved everything about x and y. They make team flare really scary in comparison to the game.

The rest fall into meh, alright territory. Though I’m still catching up on some arcs I jumped around in.

Aand some minor thoughts on current scarvio arc incase peeps are reading it:

It’s!! Okay? Holding out that it’s just building up to something later in the plot? They’re gonna have to explain why there’s both ancient and future paradox pokemon while only Prof Turo takes the spot 🤔 🤔

Love how Arven is the straight man of what is the scarvio crew. Absolute icon grab gold.

I know the writers were leaning in on the violet protag not being Florian and instead being the writers character they had during their personal violet run of the game. Guess they wanna play in on the characterization part of the game (or lack of LAUGHS). Violet is funny but can be a bit much, I’ll see how his arc goes.

I dont like Scarlet. They kept Juliana’s design but the writer admitted to Wednesday from the Adams Family/Wednesday show being their personality inspiration and just….why? If I wanted Wednesday I’d watch either show instead. Wednesday works because of her background and setting meant for humor. Against any other setting it kinda just makes her mean and unlikeable. Maybe that’s why she’s paired with Nemona rather then Arven to help balance it lol. They gave her a treasure hunter quirk and she and Raifort are plotting some things so we’ll see if they can turn her around for me 🫠

The rest of the Paldea crew? A++. Maybe cause they didn’t diverge too much from their canon in this arc but again!! Plot still going on! So far liking the characterization of Geeta (and what I’ve seen of Rika, they both appeared briefly) but they have done some wild plot twists later on. I’m gonna keep reading if only for my boy Arven—

Larry stops eating out for his breaks when somethings not right. He refuses to talk about it; plays it off like he wasn’t hungry that day.

Rika is something different. Maybe those subtle nuisances she’s picked up over the years that tells her somethings up. Never liked being vulnerable or asking for help. It must have been bad if she’s asking for a break so suddenly and for so long.

“ Don’t worry about it. Go home and take care of yourself for me.” It’d be very easy to find out. All of Paldea thrums through her sensory so no event goes unnoticed. It’s a back and forth Geeta teeters with ever since she really knew Rika or anyone she considered close. It’s dishonest to spy on friends no matter the context. Friendship is based on mutual understanding.

And hopefully…Rika wasn’t being underhanded. She trusts her right?

“ …You don’t have to call me that.” Geeta crosses her arms with a hum. “ ‘Boss’ that is.”

"Working me too hard? Nah, works' been fine on good ol' Rika." She immediately dismisses with a half smile and a wave of her hand.

It's not like Rika could explain it to Geeta. Rika went on her own personal time, behind the League's back about her problem. Just tough it through those cracked, maybe broken ribs you have from a few nights ago.

"Just some personal stuff that's kinda colliding with work, y'know how it is. 'Sides I haven't taken a vacation in awhile and I need to set an example for Larry."

All truths, vague technical ones. Rika never wanted anyone to worry, she was never specific. She didn't have to be now. If people worried then people would pry. If people pried, someone was going to figure it out.

Telling Nemona was... well the likelihood of her mentioning it in passing to the other kids was...

Yeah Rika could handle that just fine.

"It was kinda unexpected but no worries. I'll get it handled. Your schedule for when I'm gone should be all good anyways and thankfully it's League off-season so there shouldn't be any interviews."

Just keep ignoring you weren't exhausted Rika, and you wouldn't be. You could collapse when you got home.
