denial: klance will be canon even though we’ve been explicitly told it won’t on multiple occasions and all signs point to other relationships taking center stage

anger: if it’s not canon we’ll send death threats to everyone with the show and everyone who ships something else

bargaining: it was probably supposed to be canon and maybe we can sign a petition so they’ll make it canon in season 8 by somehow reanimating and rewriting everything in a couple months

depression: we’ll throw such a fit that it’ll be heard beyond the outer reaches of the fandom and the showrunners will have to publicly apologize for queerbaiting even though there is literally a canon gay character because it’s not the character we wanted

acceptance: fine we’ll make our own racist remake in total disregard for intellectual property law leakira is cannon king

I don’t mean to invalidate anyone’s pain or disappointment in any way. But can people please stop using the argument that “They killed off Adam ‘cause he gay”?

Ulaz? Thace? Regris? Antok? Faceless and nameless Blades who died in battle? And all the Blade of Marmora operatives massacred by Macidus and the druids?

Also the coalition members who died in Naxzela?

Forget it I’m crying. You know how many people don’t include rep because they think “what if I get it wrong and people hate me for it”. So many. And we finally get creators who are excited to give us an amazing character who happens to be gay and You All just shit all over it. Your behavior is disgusting. You’re the problem. Next time a network chooses to not include rep just blame yourself. You’re literally not helping anyone. If you think Shiro’s rep is only good if he’s with Adam, do me a favor and block me. If you think the show queerbaited you (my word I am so sick and tired of that term), do me a favor and block me. If you think JDS and LM are homophobic because of their narrative decisions, do me a favor and block me. I don’t want you near me or this blog in any capacity. Bye.

I’m gonna be real here for a sec, and I’m sorry for being the one to say it. Every single one of you who is advocating for shows that tried to be inclusive and had hiccups to be voted down and be punished by attempting to lower the ratings and sending messages to the higher ups are playing themselves. You all turned on SU, Korra, Voltron, and will turn on the Dragon Prince and She-Ra as well when those also turn out to be flawed shows and not peak respectability politics as well. There is no such thing as a perfect show, let alone the prefect rep. 

Do you really believe execs care about what you’re saying? All that they will see is that people hate shows with reps, and that shows with reps get the most hate and more so than shows that don’t even try, so the message to them is that we shouldn’t try since people will eventually turn on them. All you’re doing is making creators see what these shows go through and go you know what, it’s not worth it. Because the level of outright malice is vicious and horrifying. 

Execs don’t care what you’re saying all they see is that you hated the rep so to them it’s better to not have rep. If you think big corporations care about your plight then you are heavily misguided. Creators have to fight and fight to get scraps and there are many internal politics on what goes down and how. They aren’t kidding when they say they fight for it. Shows that try will always be held on a higher standard and when that isn’t met it’s punished for trying and those above the shows will go welp, better never include those nasty queers if they’re gonna hate it. Thats’ the bitter reality of it and it will never change so choose your words and actions carefully.
