Tiny Worlds Evaluation
The project we were tasked was named "Tiny Worlds" and for this task we had to take pictures that emulated a storyline with a minimum of 10 images. We had to tell the story from the view of the character(s) we created. The viewpoint could have been from a figurine, a tiny version of yourself a toy or even sweets shaped like people or animals. I personally wasn't a fan of the idea of Tiny Worlds as I didn't know what my story could be and I had had a plan in my head to have my project for block 3 involving food photography. However, by the end of the project I did enjoy making the sets and seeing the final result of my images.
My favourite part of the project would have to be making the set up, making the scene, for each of the images. I had fun trying to figure out how I could make a landscape, how I could make a prop and even how I could make a hallway.
The new techniques I have experienced is the use of colour grading to give images a cinematic effect. I also learned more about forced perspective which I had found quite difficult to grasp. With that in mind I would definetly like to explore more ways to do forced perspective and to find out new ways to make it look effective and not cheesy.
For my research I looked into Dan Beecroft and Ashraful Arefin. Both of these photographers used their own methods and objects with their photos. Dan Beecroft inspired me with his Mr Lego series making me decide to take pictures of Lego figures rather than small models of people like you would find with minimiam. And Ashraful Arefin inspired me with the use of model cars for his Mini Cars series.
I enjoyed the techniques in post production the most as it allowed me to learn more on colour grading and find out the colour grading of films and shows that I love.
I feel this is the most successful part of the whole project because I believe it definetly gave a cinematic effect towards my images.
I did encounter problems with my final shoot as I couldn't figure out how to get it to look exactly how I wanted it to look. And what I learned from this is that you have to be patient and even leave the shoot for another day or two to get a fresh mind and try again.
If I was asked to do this project again, I don't think I could change much of what I done at all. I might try a new storyline or make a further series with the same Lego figures. However overall I wouldn't change it.

Displaying My Work
For my tiny worlds project, I want to display my work as a zine created with canva.
Canva can be used to create anything, from fliers to posts for social media platforms.
The advantages is there is multiple options for editing. You can use a template or create your own, you can add photos on it, elements like vector images, text, a video and you can change the background easily.

Here is what canva looks like from the app.

There is also multiple platforms in which you can share your work. You can also download the files and you can get canva to print the file themselves.
Here is the platforms that canva allows you to share with. As you can see there is quite a lot and even an option for more.

Tiny Worlds Set Up
Here is what my tiny worlds set has looked like throughout my series of photos (bar one which was taken outside).
For the background I used tissue paper and I used an old white table that we had sitting around.

Tiny Worlds Shoot 9 Contact Sheets
For this shoot I had used a real candle to create the right lighting effect.
Here is the contact sheets for my ninth shoot for tiny worlds:

For this shoot I had found that I actually like seperate parts of images more than one whole image. So for post production I plan to combine these two images together as a composite:

Tiny Worlds Shoot 3 Contact Sheets
Here is the contact sheets for my third shoot for tiny worlds. With this one I struggled a bit to get the angle just right. I had decided my best option would be to take the photo in portrait and then later crop it in post production.

First Tiny Worlds Shoot
Here is the contact sheets for my first shoot. Originally I had tried to create a sunrise however the images I took with the blue, yellow and orange background ended up looking more green than a sunset. So I opted to remove the blue and I liked the effect much more even though it looks more like a sunset.

Colour Grading
Colour grading is the process of improving the appearance of an image for presentation in the different environments on different devices. Various attributes of an image such as the colour, the contrast, saturation, detail etc. may be enhanced within films, tv shows or still images within photographers.
Here is a few videos on colour grading within photoshop (which is the software I will be using to do my own colour grading):

Creating Teal and Orange Effect Within Camera RAW
Here is a screenshot of the split toning settings I put on an image:

Here are four images I selected and edited with my slit toning presets:

My favourite out of them all is definetly the one of the fourth road rail bridge because I think the colours work really well together.
