Struggling to adjust back into the work routine and lack of sleep made me crave more pasta so I headed to #Antonios bought some Rigatoni, picked up a pound of tomatoes from #lewishammarket and made this sensational dish from @we_are_food . Such an inspiring weekend in #glouchestershire at @foodinourhandsuk People’s Food Summit talking about building a UK #foodsovereignty movement. Very special to meet so many people in one place working for a fair food system, from food growing to giving. My head is buzzing from hearing about so many inspiring projects and wanting to replicate them all in #lewisham. Unsurprisingly the food was incredible, lovingly made by Two Trees Catering #Bristol who kept us well nourished and full all weekend. I failed to take many photos as I was too busy talking but here’s a couple. This little red ball is the first tomato from my first ever crop of homegrown tomatoes! We brought seedlings from Lee Fareshare back the spring. I had no idea the care and attention tomato plants need, not to mention the time it takes to grow tomato plants from babies to a fruit bearing plant. Last Sunday I dared to go where I’ve never gone before… I cooked with pastry. That might not seem like a big deal but I’ve not attempted any recipe using pastry since I was a child (I think I ate more raw pastry than I baked back then). Like baking bread it’s a hurdle I’ve never felt confident enough to cross… until now. Coming up with new, interesting vegan roast dinner recipes can be a challenge. This one turned out for the better. Squash, mushroom and kale baked in puff pastry.
