July Favorites 2017

Hey Darlings,

My name is Britt and I am a beauty fanatic! I have finally decided to create a blog for beauty related written posts as well as sharing other things I love! I won’t delve into anything personal in this post, so let’s get to it!

Summer is slipping away as we know it: the higher the temperature rises so does our certainty that fall (and school!) are just around the corner. Here are some products that have been helping me survive this year’s heatwaves!

1. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion +

Clinique has always been a winner for me when it comes to moisturizer. Previously, I was using the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief which is a gel moisturizer. Nearing the end of the jar, I decided to try out another Clinique moisturizer I had lying around on my bathroom counter (the lotion +). Upon the first use, I noticed immediately my skin felt more hydrated and less greasy; your skin truly will feel “dramatically different!”

2. Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System

After years of hearing people rave about the famed Clarisonic (but never trying it due to the price tag), I became interested in testing out Olay’s more affordable version of this holy grail skincare device. My husband was kind enough to gift it to me for Mother’s Day, and I have been using it nonstop ever since! It gives me a deeper clean than a traditional hand-wash, but also is not overly abrasive for someone with sensitive skin like myself. I tried using exfoliator with this device, but it did not work out as I had hoped; this product deserves an A+ in the area of facial cleansing tools!

3. NYX Total Control Drop Foundation in Pale

Every pale girl knows the struggle of finding a foundation to match her skin tone at the drugstore is a hell of a challenge. This NYX foundation is certainly on the pricier side to still be dubbed “drugstore” (it retails for $13.99!). The dropper applicator is definitely more time consuming than my standard “smear it all over your face” technique, but the result is well worth the extra time. This is now my favorite go-to foundation for a date night!

4. MAC Lipstick in Creme Cup

This classic lipstick from MAC has been a longtime favorite of mine. If you’ve never tried MAC lipstick but aren’t into crazy colors, this is the perfect starter lipstick. Their lip formulas are creamy and always deliver a flawless application. Normally during the summer I go for fun, bright lips but this summer I’ve been feeling more laid back and sticking to neutral shades. For me, this is a great “my lips but better color.” It gives me a flattering look without trying too hard!

5. Makeup Revolution Iconic 3 Redemption Palette

I’m not sure how long Makeup Revolution has been on the market, so this is a new brand for me! I came across the display at an Ulta while I was out of town semi-recently, and a lot of the products caught my eye. The price tag for the 12-color eyeshadow palettes stuck out to me the most (a steal at only $7.00). I have always been wary when it comes to drugstore eyeshadows, because I have never found any that I personally loved. However, these eyeshadows are absolutely fantastic (at least in this particular palette, I have not tried any of their others!). You can create a lot of eye looks with this palette, and it’s reasonably sized for travel.
