Something about Damen getting literally stabbed and STILL wanting to protect his brother is so sad and tragic, they are so Cain and Abel coded it kills me. And even after Kastor sees this, that he can try to kill Damen and Damen will still love him and doesn't want him to die, it doesn't move him.

"Laurent, you can't, he's my brother."

"I'm going to kill your lover, and then I'm going to kill you."

Maybe he resents it even, is angered by the fact that no matter what he does, his golden child fathers-favorite-son brother refuses to hate Kastor like Kastor hates him, that he thinks he's so perfect he's even stupid enough to give his unconditional love to someone who does not deserve it and has done everything in his power to ruin it.

I don't think he wanted Kastor to die even up to the moment Laurent kills him, but accepted when the fight began that it was going to be either Kastor or Laurent, and if given the choice, it's obvious who he'd pick.
