Athena‘s "magical" power

As I‘m becoming an SLP (speech-language pathologist), I think even more about Athena’s so-called power. As you all probably know, she can hear the genuine emotion(s) in things people around her say.

So what does that have to do with me becoming an SLP and what even is that? In short, SLP’s diagnose and treat communication, voice and swallowing disorders in children and adults. We started talking about voice (disorders) a few weeks ago and how it affects our personality, how and why we even use our voice and stuff.

As we’re listening to people more closely due to sharpening our skills, I realize how much pronunciation, volume, rhythm, tone and more influence the message we get from someone. I know it’s not really possible to 'detect' genuine emotions if the person really tries to hide them. But if you’re listening closely and have developed a feeling for or are receptive to that sort of thing, I don’t think it’s impossible to guess what somebody’s feeling at the moment.

So I’d say that Athena’s just really receptive to detecting what people are truly feeling because she has great social skills and is more experienced with listening closely. The things that are mentioned aside from these facts are probably said to make her fit in in a world of magatamas and even more unrealistic things like logic.. ;)

Where’s Ace Attorney 7?

A few days ago it was the third anniversary of the most recent Ace Attorney game, Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2- which means we’re going through a 36-month hiatus; longer than any we’ve had before, excluding the gap between Trials & Tribulations and Apollo Justice.

So what gives? Why haven’t we seen AA7 yet? Will we ever see it in the future, or is the franchise dead? 

Well, I have a few theories for the first question, and some evidence concerning the second. This will probably get long, so I’ll put it under a cut.

The truth!!

what i love about ace attorney is how natural the character development can be, because the games are played out over such a long in-game time period. in a normal story the character development happens because someone has an epiphany and is forced to change, but in ace attorney the development can happen because you’re just getting older! maya’s not a kid anymore! phoenix isn’t the optimistic, naive art student, miles softens over time because sometimes we do that as we grow older. they’re all adjusting to the real world from who they used to be and they’re growing!! babe that’s real, actual, growth, and growth doesn’t always happen through epiphanies, sometimes it happens through facing the hard truth and sometimes it happens from letting people love you.

I love Athena‘s and Trucy‘s themes because they feel like homecoming- they always play when you‘re in the office taking a breather, just discussing the case or teasing others.. it‘s just so domestic
