How to take care of your engine and also get better mileage?
Tumblr media
 Engine safety tips
1.            Every alternate day, start your car engine to keep it lubricated and avoiding the oil to settle down at the bottom.
2.            To protect engine bearings and crank shaft, avoid acceleration when starting the car.
3.            When you start the engine for the first time in day, keep it in idle position for upto 10 seconds as this will help in lubrication of engine parts.
4.            Change the engine oil of ur car after every 5000 to 7000 km for petrol cars & 8000 to 10000 km for diesel cars or once in a year whichever occurs first as the viscosity of the oil looses after the number of km or over a period of time
5.            Check the oil level of ur car engine once in 2 months with the dip stick provided by the car manufacturer.  If the level is less u can top up with the recommended grade of oil
6.            Last but not the least ..check ur car engine coolant regularly, once in a month, as absence of coolant can cease your car engine resulting in damage of the head gaskets.  Caution: Never open the radiator cap or coolant cap when the car engine is hot as it can cause serious damage to the person opening  & the surroundings as well.
 Mileage of your car
1.            Do not harshly accelerate your car while starting.
2.            Change the gear as quickly as possibly simultaneously, gently apply pressure on the accelerator while driving
3.            Drive car on higher gears as much as possible.
4.            Use fuel additives which will clean fuel injector.

Tips to keep your car’s exterior sanitized during lockdown
Tumblr media
So there are numerous nasty viruses floating around right now. People don’t want to breathe near each other or touch anything. Some of us are locked down at home and can’t leave the house, but there are a few people who will need to leave the house during this coronavirus pandemic outbreak and those people might actually need to use their vehicles. So if you’re one of those people and you need to use your car, how do you ensure your car isn’t contaminated by the Covid-19 virus? We at Auto Today will tell you exactly what you are supposed to do in such a situation and also on how to keep your car's exterior protected from any wear & tear during normal times as well.
How to clean the car during Covid-19 lockdown
Now that we’ve got the WHAT part out of our way, let’s focus on the HOW TO part of our advisor. Almost any surface can become contaminated; door handles, steering wheel, or even the handbrake. According to certain studies, the virus can last on certain surfaces for quite some time, especially plastic and metal where it can persist in a form where it’s contagious for up to three days. The virus is, however, slightly less happy on absorbent surfaces, but it’s pretty safe to say that anything Covid-19 comes into contact with, you most definitely want to stay clear of.
Exterior car care tips during Covid-19 lockdown
So how do we get rid of the virus? Well, you have two options; we already know that soap and water are pretty good and that’s why experts recommend we wash our hands for at least 20 seconds at stipulated intervals. Once our hands are clean, we move to the next step and that is cleaning the exterior of our car. Unknowingly, we end up touching a lot of places in our car that are a safe haven for most germs and viruses. So, before we start disinfecting the car, it is important to give your car a good scrub with a solution of warm soap and water which can be made from any cleaning solution available at our disposal.

Make your Car Holi-ready with these Holi Essentials
Tumblr media
When we talk about the fond memories of the days gone by, festivals will always hold a special place in our hearts. Remember when you stepped outside in your worn-out clothes just to be greeted by your friends who are waiting with water balloons and pakka rang?
It is hard to find a street that is not drowned in the hues of green, yellow, red and pink. It is a custom everywhere in India to go out and celebrate (or rather fight) with your neighboring society with your gang and throw balloons like crazy maniacs! But when you’re having all that fun with your gang roaming the streets, there comes a time where your mind will think “Ab ye kon saaf karega?” And if you especially have a car, then the worries multiply. Many might suggest that you keep your car in a closed garage, away from all the action. But, what if you can make your car a part of all your Holi celebrations without having to worry a bit? What if you can actually have a hatke Holi party that you will remember for years? This Holi, be befikar with these must-have Holi Essentials that will help you and your dear car have a safe and an awesome Holi!
 1.   Protect your car beforehand :
We are sure you must have heard this – “Gaadi andar rakh dena, Holi me bheeg jaayegi.” But what if you live in a building that does not have a closed parking space? Fear not, for there is a little something that will make sure your beloved car is not the next victim of Holi Craze – Car Body Cover. A car body cover is your car’s First Line of Defense when it comes to protecting it from those brutal splashes and the unfriendly colors.
 2.   Don’t forget the interiors :
You might think that Holi only gets the car exteriors dirty. Well, that’s wrong. A lot of times, the water can get trapped inside, ruining the delicate and expensive car interiors like seats, dashboards and the floor. And if you are among the unlucky few who somehow managed to get the interiors all messy, then you are in some trouble, friend. It is a well-known fact that you can’t celebrate Holi without a friendly splash of water, and water is not exactly your car’s friend. To tackle this problem head-on, then it is a must that you have to use premium-grade seat covers, floor mats and steering wheel covers.
In our opinion, floors should receive all the care they can as they are highly susceptible to rust, especially when you are entering the car wet.
 3.   Clean up the After-Holi mess with ease :
Let’s face it, no one likes to clean any mess after a crazy part-ay! You must be super-tired after a glorious fiesta and you must be having a ‘genius’ friend with you who thought it was a ‘good idea’ to step inside your car afterwards, and you choose not to do anything at that moment. but, come next morning, and you regret taking your pals in your car. But, fret not, for you can clean your car with utter ease with a portable car vacuum cleaner. This might look like a small tool, but it is so powerful, that it can pick up wet as well as dry mess, making your car look almost as good as it was before Holi.
 4.   Have a car that smells like heaven! :
Holi is never a pretty sight, especially if you happen to live in a locality that believes in celebrating in a way that you can’t be recognized the next day. And when you play dirty, you. You will surely not like the smell to creep into your car the next day, when you have to get up to go to office. For tackling this stinky problem, there is a sweet-as-hell option – Car air freshener. Car air fresheners are available in a plethora of aromas – you can go for the classic lemon to zesty orange to an exuberant oceanic smell. Having this dandy little thing in your car post-Holi will get rid of that musty smell in a jiffy!
With these essentials at your arsenal, you can be sure to have a Holi that you and your car will love! You can get these car accessories online on Laxman Car Accessories Store
Laxman Car Spares wishing all a Rangon se Bhari, dil wali Holi!

This summer, give your old car a new life
Tumblr media
Maintaining the old wagon has many advantages. Treating it properly and keeping it up to date would result in a satisfying long-term ownership experience, saving you money on a new car earlier than necessary.
The owner's manual for your vehicle contains a maintenance plan. Follow the instructions given by the manufacturer. This allows you to get more mileage out of your car. It would be best if you also remembered that it is always advised to get regular maintenance done for your vehicle. Although regular maintenance means shelling a few bucks out of your pockets, it'll prove to be a cheaper solution in the longer run.
Here's a list of things you can do to give your old car a new life:
Change the engine timing belt after 100,00 miles (1,61,000 km)
The crankshaft is connected to the camshaft by a timing belt or cord. It regulates the valve timing of an internal combustion engine.
To find out what kind of engine you have, check your owner's manual. When you have an interruption engine with 100,000 miles on it, replace the timing belt before it fails.
 Don't tire out the tyre
Keep a tyre gauge in your vehicle at all times to check your air pressure and get your tyre's rotated daily. Make sure it's between 30 and 35 PSI, according to your vehicle's manufacturer's guidelines. To be accurate, consult the owner's manual.
Like most other old vehicle repair advice, taking charge of your tires is also beneficial to your wallet. The process makes your vehicle more efficient, and you end up saving a lot over gas.
 Is everything cool, sir?
Make sure the coolant reservoir is loaded. Coolant makes the engine cool in the summer and keeps it from freezing in the winter. It also stops rust, foam, and deposits from forming, which would otherwise degrade the efficiency of your vehicle.
 Replacing the water pump regularly
A water pump is essential to the engine because it ensures the coolant is circulated in the engine and does not overheat. It can last 60,000 to 90,000 miles, equivalent to a timing belt, and it's best to get it fixed before it breaks, along with your timing belt.
 Charge up that battery
Examine the battery cables and contacts, and make sure the battery terminals are free of rust and corrosion. Baking soda mixed with water and an anti-corrosion agent can work wonders.
 Oil all over?
The oil keeps the engine lubricated; driving with insufficient oil, little oil, or dirty oil will result in significant engine damage. Replace your oil and filter every 3,000 miles, or 5,000 miles if you use synthetic oil, to avoid this risk. This is an old car repair tip that we can't say anything about!
 Belt it up
Belts and hoses deteriorate with time, and a visual inspection does not reveal this. When a mechanic services a vehicle, he typically needs to loosen all of the belts to get to the timing belt, so you may as well ask him to fix all of them. It's a vital part of old car maintenance that won't break the bank, particularly if done all at once.
Finally, for any sort of accessories that you need to maintain your car better, Laxman Car Accessories is always at your service. We promise to deliver quality service and provide you with nothing but the best.

Is your car summer ready?
Tumblr media
Summer is coming, and now is the best time to keep your car in condition after months of driving in the dry winters. Cross off these things on your to-do list to get your car ready for a summer of smooth sailing:
Change the blades on your wiper.
Winter wiper blades are made from a different rubber than their summer equivalent, just like winter tires, but they can be adjusted as the weather begins to warm up. And if your wiper blades are not expressly for winter, if they no longer get the job done, you can check them and repair them.
 Get your AC checked.
On a hot day, not only is driving without air conditioning unpleasant, but it can also be risky. Check the AC to make sure it works well until it gets too warm for the weather. If you detect unusual noises or think the air from your vents is colder than it should be, have a professional check the device.
Make sure the brakes are in working order.
Brakes will see a fair deal of wear during the winter months as traffic is far more stop-and-go than it is in the summer. When you remove your winter tires, consider making your brakes tested.
 Keep the cooling agent cold.
Test the amount of your coolant to make sure the chemical composition is right. You can do this yourself or get it tested by a specialist using a coolant tester from the nearest auto parts shop.
 Get a shift in crude.
If you're due for an oil check, do it when your snow tires are being removed to save yourself a ride later.
 Go for a tune-up in pre-summer.
Consider this a detailed list of projects to accomplish before summer comes. You can be shocked to find out how many of them in one visit to your dealership or a skilled mechanic can be taken care of. Inquire about a kit that contains the bulk of the products on this page, as well as fluid checks (e.g., coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid).

Types of floor mats for your vehicle
Tumblr media
Did you ever think of why floor mats are used? Well, apart from being something to rest your feet on, floor mats also add a lot of aesthetic value to your car.  Floor mats help keep the dirt out of your car and aid in giving a better grip to the driver.  Therefore, it is crucial to decide which mat to buy and at Laxman Car Spares & Accessories, we're more than happy to help with this decision.  Here we look at different types of floor mats and their uses, which will hopefully help make you choose the best one.
 Fabric floor mats:
Fabric mats are the easiest to find and the cheapest ones in the market. You can avail them in various colours and designs. Additionally, they come with a rubber back, which prevents them from slipping away. These mats are often found in universal sizes, which means they pretty much fit every car. However, a common complaint attached to these mats is that they are sagging and slip too frequently, irrespective of the back. The adhesive on the back starts to wear off very soon, leaving the mat to look like a piece of cloth. If you do come across one with a longer shelf life, you might be lucky enough to use it as the go-to mat for your car.
 Rubber mats:
Rubber mats are the most durable and long-lasting floor mats for any car. They don't slip and give a firm grip to the driver, making it a safer choice. The downside though, is that they absorb a lot of moisture and also get dirty too quickly. This makes it hard for owners to maintain their vehicles.
A piece of advice from our side while choosing rubber mats would be to go for the high-quality ones and look at the ones specifically made for your model.
 Vinyl mats:
The best part about vinyl mats is that they can be used throughout the year as they can sustain all weather conditions. Their material and texture make it easy for them to be cleaned regularly, leaving your car dust-free at all times. These mats come with spikes that resist them from slipping away and also readily available in the market for you to buy.
 3D Floor mats
3D floor mats give a premium look to your vehicle. They are the most expensive ones in the market, but they fit your car perfectly and enhance its aesthetics too. You may have to clean this one regularly, though, as it doesn't soak up anything and will leave your vehicle dusty and dirty. If the car's inner looks are essential to you, then these 3D mats should definitely be on your list.

How to not tire your car tyres out
Tumblr media
One of the essentials points of car care is to ensure that your tyres never wear out. At Laxman car spares and accessories, you can get your car and have your tyres checked every once in a while. Not only will we service them, but we will also let you know of the precautions you need to take. Here we will look at how you can take care of these tyres and ensure that they have long-lasting durability.
Tyre pressure
Tyres must have an optimum pressure of air, even more so when traveling longer distances. Having too much air can make the ride bumpy on bad roads and having too little air can lead to severe damage to the tyres. One important thing to do is to keep getting your pressure checked regularly. This will make sure that you are alert about any mishaps that might happen and will take your car to the nearest mechanic at the earliest.
 Wheel alignment
It is tricky to tell if your wheels and axles are correctly aligned while driving. However, having geometrically disoriented wheels can lead to major accidents.  If your tyre has come into contact with a pothole, or you have noticed irregular wear on your tyres, please go to a tyre technician to have it wholly inspected. It's crucial to assure correct alignment to get the best road handling, shield your tyres from irregular wear and save fuel.
 Regularly servicing
Another way to ensure that your tyres don't wear out is to give your car for servicing on a regular basis. This will make sure that your car mechanic keeps an eye on those tyres and lets you know if anything needs to be changed. Remember to go to your nearest car servicing place at least a week or two before you have a long road trip planned, as it might take a while to change your car tyres if needed. Also, know that though changing your car tyres might seem a little expensive, it is vital to spend on them so as to not compromise on your safety.

New Car, Do Care!
Tumblr media
As the auspicious festival of Diwali just went by, many of you all must have bought new cars and maintaining them can be quite a task sometimes.  Here are a few tips that you can use, to make your new car more durable, more comfortable, and smoother to drive. Once your new car is parked in your garage, you can also get it to Laxman Car Spares & Accessories in order to ensure that your vehicle is ready to hit the roads.
 Check the engine oil:
Have this done once a month if you want to make sure that your car's oil conditions stay intact for a longer time. You must also do it more often if you notice an oil leak or observe some changes in the frequency of when you add the oil. Always remember to do the check with the car parked on ground level, in order to get an accurate dipstick reading. In case of a leak, get it fixed at the earliest.
 Check the tire air pressure:
Do this once a month and especially before an extended road trip. A half-filled tire can lead to the tire wearing off sooner than it should. You will also notice a decline in your driving's smoothness, and the tires are also at a risk of tearing in case of low pressure. Just like the engine oil, if you think that something about the tire pressure doesn't feel right, get it fixed as soon as possible.
 Wash your car regularly:
If you wish to keep the newness of your just bought car intact, then you must take care of it. Wash your car at least once a week. You might also want to get special detergents and disinfectants to keep the freshness and the sanitization of your car alive. Ensure that the products you use do not damage the vehicle's external and internal parts in any way. Sometimes, just water, soap, and a soft cloth could do wonders.
 Processing the paperwork:
Last but not least, one of the critical things you must do right after buying a car is to keep all the paperwork in a safe place. Have them in a waterproof file, maybe keep an extra copy at your home and office, but ensure that all of the paperwork is done and is safe with you. These documents are essential to your driving and must not be neglected at any cost.

How to choose the right seat cover for your car?
Tumblr media
Choosing the right seat cover can sometimes be tricky and challenging. Once you've spent so much time and energy on buying and accessorizing your car, going wrong with the seat cover is the last thing you'd want to do. So how does one choose the perfect seat cover anyway? Is it the fit and the brand, or is it the colour and the comfort? Perhaps it's a little bit of everything. Here we give you some tips to follow before you pick a seat cover for your car:
 Material is a must
Before installing the seat cover, have a look at what material is it made of? Is it something that isn't suitable for the weather in your city? Is it easily washable and is non-reactive to disinfectants? Check whether the material will wear off over some time or stay fresh for a couple of months, at least. Ask about the quality of the material and what makes it different from other seat covers. Once you have all the questions answered, you can strike out material on the list of things to consider for your seat cover.
 Colour, colour, which colour?
Though superficial but an essential element to consider- colour. The colour of your seat cover determines how the car looks from the inside and therefore, it is a crucial decision to make. Also, what place you live in as this might tell you which colour best fits the environment. Dark colours can make your car hotter if left out in the sun and lighter colours may stain easily. Once this decision is made, check if the seat cover colour compliments the colour of your car.
 Brand factory
Now that your material and colour are decided, think about what brand you want to go for. Speak to the person who is getting the seat cover installed as they might give you a clearer picture about this. Ask questions about the durability and the rigidity of the cover, as these are essential to longer sustainability.
Once you have made an account of these three points, go to a car accessories shop and have them install the seat cover for you. At Laxman Car Care & Accessories, we install such seat cover and give you many more qualitative services to make your journey feel lighter and smoother.

Bad driving habits to avoid in order to keep your car durable
Tumblr media
Here are some bad driving habits you need to get rid of if you wish to extend your car's shelf life.
1. Driving with low fuel
Don't wait for your fuel tank to reach the lower limit before you refill it. A lot of dust can accumulate in an almost empty fuel tank if it isn't handled with care.  Make sure you regularly hit the gas station and keep your tank at least half-filled at most times.
2. Abrupt acceleration and braking
Many of us have a habit of suddenly hitting the pedal while stopping at a signal or driving through traffic. Avoid doing this if you don't want your brake pads to wear our excessively. Accelerating your car to higher speeds just as you're starting off can also cause your fuel's burning up.
3. Loading your car with a lot of weight
Every car comes with a maximum amount of weight it can carry, and more often than not, we tend to overlook this limit. Exceeding the limit can damage the car's suspension and brakes. Additionally, it can also cause your car to consume more fuel.
4. Revving a car's engine when it's cold
Let your car warm up on its own instead of revving the engine. Forcing your car to warm up will cause sudden temperature change to the internal parts and may also result in damage to the areas that require lubrication.
5. Squeezing the car during the red signal
Applying sudden force to the clutch at a red signal may cause damage to the vehicle's transmission. Leave your car in neutral with the handbrake pulled up and avoid squeezing the clutch when you're ready to go.
6. Ignoring the red flags from your car
In these modern times, our vehicles are smart enough to send up signals able any wear and tear that's bound to happen. Listen to your car and take good care of it. Just like you go to the hospital for a regular check-up, you can get your car to Laxman Car Accessories for any car troubles that you might face.

The lockdown has made all of us self-sufficient or as they say, Atmanirbhar. If we've learned to do everything from cooking to washing clothes by ourselves, it's high time we learned how to clean our cars too. Here are a few ways in which you can keep the interiors of your car spic and span:
Tumblr media
•             Gather all required cleaning equipment:
Make sure you have all the needed detergents, disinfectant sprays, brushes, and other tools to help you do a thorough clean-up. Some products that are known to kill coronavirus are- isopropyl alcohol, disinfecting wipes and soaps, and microfiber cloths because the fabric won't harm the surfaces of your car. In case there is a deficit of a certain tool, you can shop for it at Laxman Car Accessories. We are more than happy to provide you with a range of products that could be useful for your unseasonal spring cleaning.
 •             Regular clean-up for efficient results:
According to reports, it is important to clean your car at least once to a month to keep it from viruses or infections. If you have a pet that rides your car often or some eatables that leave food crumbles here an there, it is suggested that you do the interior cleaning once in two weeks.
 •             Know where to vacuum:
Yes, it is important to vacuum the carpets and the seat covers, but you must always begin by vacuuming the dashboard, door panels, and consoles. This will prevent from leaving out any dust that accumulates while cleaning fabric-based surfaces.
 •             Cleaning the doorjambs:
Doorjambs are the area of the car that connects your car door to the body of the car. It's the first point of contact as you get into the vehicle and is, therefore, an essential space to clean up. Use a cotton cloth and a mild polish to rub the surface to make it look new and shiny and keep it infection-free.
 •             When in doubt, vinyl:
To get dust and dirt off your dashboard and door insides, start by wiping the vinyl with a soft cloth. Then spray an adequate amount of a vinyl cleaner on a microfiber cloth and wipe down the surface, getting rid of the excess with a dry cloth. Avoid the steering wheel, as the vinyl cleaner can make it slippery and hard to grip. Don't forget to hit the pockets in your door by de-cluttering and vacuuming.
 •             Win you windows:
You might notice a build-up of dirt toward the top when you roll down your windows. Don't forget to hit those edges when you wipe down your windows and mirrors. You will find special disinfectants for your windows at Laxman Car Accessories, which you may avail for reasonable prices.
 •             Cleaning the car seats and floor:
Get the dirt off with a vacuum before washing the seats. For cloth seats, use a spray-on cleaner with a scrub brush. If you have leather seats, use a lotion-based leather cleaner. As far as the floors are concerned, start by removing the mats and sliding your seats forward as junk tends to build up behind them in tiny spaces. Use a brush-free attachment to go over the mats and carpets.
Finally, make sure you give your car for regular servicing regardless of all the in-depth cleaning you do at home. Do not forget to wash your hands and get all the chemicals off your body that you may have contracted while using detergents and disinfectants. For further questions and tips about cleaning your car, you can always reach out to Laxman Car Accessories, and we will gladly help you out.

Lockdown Car Care Done Right.
Tumblr media
Don't let the pandemic stop your car from being taken care of. Here are a few DIY car care tips that will help your vehicle during the lockdown:
Ø  Every once a while, take your car out for a 2-3-minute ride or start the engine to keep your car battery charged.  This will ensure that the battery is up and going in case of emergencies and keeps the engine parts well lubricated.
Ø  Avoid starting your car with a harsh acceleration as it may damage the engine bearings.
Ø  Wash your vehicle with car-wash and wax once in a week. The washing helps protect the car shine and paint for years-long (note: always use a microfiber lint-free cloth to wash your car as it prevents the paint from light scratches.) Washing the vehicle regularly also ensures it's sanitization automatically.
Ø  A home detergent is an effective tool that can be used to sanitize the car from the inside. Add the detergent to a bucket full of water, dip a microfiber cloth in this bucket, and wipe the insides your vehicle, such as the dashboard, door trims, seat covers, and flooring. Repeat the process frequently to kill germs, bacteria, and viruses.
Note: For safety reasons, do NOT leave any sanitizers in the car. Sanitizers contain highly flammable alcohol, causing a fire hazard to the vehicle.
Laxman Car Care is happy to provide car safety for all of its customers. At Laxman, we don't close deals; we open life long relationships.
