mercy seems like a long shot here, so my prayer for inauguration day 2025: may they be incompetent. may they just be really bad at implementation. may their egos choke their effectiveness. may they drown themselves week by week with infighting and selfish posturing. may they be easily distracted. may the very governors and senators and agencies and religious leaders that the new administration expects to be friendly force endless stalemates to preserve their own power. may every delay turn into a three ring blame circus so chaotic that no one remembers what they were doing. may the good and necessary parts of government be too boring to draw attention and keep running quietly in the background. may the next four years be full of sound and fury and signify nothing.

i love how in the song popular, glinda doesn't really change elphaba. she tries different outfits and styles on her, but none of them work. what does she do? she places a pink flower in elphaba's hair, she offers her friendship.

"pinks goes good with green."

glinda really looks at elphaba and sees her beauty that's been there all along and shows elphaba that. she gives elphaba newfound confidence. THAT'S the makeover. and i love that so much.

Okay in my house we have a strange tradition. My mother builds this beautiful Christmas village.

It wraps all around our house through the rooms and under the trees and it’s wonderful.

Every year she hides the Christmas Vampire

This started when I was a very small got child and spread to all of my friends, including my best friend from elementary school who I just so happened to grow up and marry. Now that we have grown up and moved nearly 600 miles away we still always go home for a week at Christmas for multiple reasons, including the Christmas Vampire.

Needless to say we still partake and things have gotten heated.

Stay tuned for the epic conclusion and to see my husband and father in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s sooty costume when I find the Christmas Vampire First!

Wanna put an emphasis on number 3. I had an experience this year just like this!

The teacher I worked with was new but on the first week she snapped and yelled at me in front of the whole classroom AND another teacher.

Something in me told me to say something so I stood up for myself and told her she was wrong to confront me like that. She backed down immediately and shut up. I told admin and they thankfully backed me up and help resolve the issue but it made me think about how she must have thought I would have been an easy person to manipulate and target because I give off helpful people pleaser energy but I'm also a "don't take advantage of my kindness" person and often surprise people when I stand up and make noise when I have to.

But another part why I so easily stood up for myself was age and experience. Only 5 years ago I'd probably be too naive to say anything but age and wisdom gave me the power to tell people how I want to be treated.

Find out how to make three good meals: A comfort meal you can make for just yourself relatively easily, a fancy meal you can use to wow a date, and a meal you can feed a bunch of people. All the other cooking can come later, but you can build a community on those three meals.
