Imagine if when Kokichi and Gonta start dating, Gonta ends up really against sleeping in the same bed as Kokichi. He's fine with everything else, Gonta just refuses to sleep in the same bed as Kokichi.

Kokichi is fine with it at first. But then as time goes on it becomes apparent that Gonta is very cagey about this, and any reason that Gonta could have for this behaviour is almost immediately disproven by something else he allows very welcomely. It gets to a point where Kokichi starts assuming it must be a problem with himself, and he starts possibly going through a spiral of self-hate. Until it's revealed that the reason is....

Gonta kicks in his sleep.

gonta actually one of the strongest soldiers for putting up with kokichi…

gonta has the self-restraint of like 1 bajillion mfs and takes action to protect and try to keep kokichi out of trouble but not to. restrain kokichi from doing what he wants.

but just to take responsibility of just keeping a watch out for him.

kokichi knowing he’s being looked out for makes it easier for him to focus on having fun with keeping up the act. kokichi would actually might have lost his shit day 1 if not for gonta tbf

idk if kokichi really trusts him but i mean if gonta is showing signs of responsibility and care that not even polite kaede was fully. ig aware of then that’s pretty reassuring

kokichi basically goes full intense mode the moment gonta is out of the picture and that’s basically like when kokichi is most vulnerable. hes still pretending but he’s trying WAY TOO HARD that it’s like. wait hold up kokichi is tweaking rn

wait… kokichi trying to recruit shuichi in ch4 is. because he wanted gonta to not get caught. because shuichi always hit jackpot and kokichi is trying to eliminate the competition

so that kokichi would still get his way even tho i dont think kokichi can do anything about gonta at this point in time

kokichi unfortunately needs to prove that he’s trustworthy tho and his methods have always been some sort of violence despite with good intent

shuichi already knows that risking potential friendly fire isn’t worth it especially since kaito, maki and shuichi have it their way by the trust and loyalty that no vulnerability would be exploited from the inside so shuichi would have to do everything it takes to protect himself if it means maki and kaito get to have their way because of shuichi

and kaito having it his way is reminding maki. to not risk taking it out on kokichi and kaito know that it’s a lot of effort on maki’s part to restrain herself so kaito reassuring maki probably ticks off kokichi

because now it’s a battle of gonta standing in for kokichi so he can recruit shuichi. vs kaito reassuring maki to chill out so that shuichi can do his thing

ch4 is insane because usually competition is pretty fun but this is like. competition where you leave a whole team crippled and broken is. yeah no wonder kokichi wanted to end it all in ch5.

and his hostility was definitely something that felt more of a competitive thing than uh. kokichi actually hating anyone. but at least kaito was able to talk to him.

kokichi in his final moments and kaito would just idk reassure him everything will work out.

My favourite Characters that are still alive as of the end of chapter 2 are Nagito, Ibuki, Gundham and his four dark devas of destruction, Sonia and Mikan. If one or more of them die when i get back to playing the game im going to cry SO hard Peko was on the list before and i felt my heart fucking SINK when i realized by the end of the investigation that she was one the most likely suspects, and it felt awful to get my theories confirmed halfway through the trial I cant go though that again man...
