Healthcare in Newcastle is as good as Sydney if not faster to see a specialist or surgeon. The region has many a public hospital as well as a lot of private hospitals. No doubt if you’re seriously ill you will be going into John Hunter Hospital. This is a public hospital and is massive.
Onsite is a lot of specialists rooms and a private hospital for day surgeries. You can see every type of specialist when you are here.
The visiting hours are long but there are rest periods but you will only be stopped if the patient is asleep or indicated they do not wish to have visitors.
There is a pharmacy onsite which also hires and sells mobility aids such as crutches and wheelchairs. you can obviously get a prescription filled at the same place.
There are no dental facilities on site though they do call in dental surgeons for emergencies though if your suffering from an exposed nerve as I was you’re out of luck.
You can get food and drink onsite though they operate in hours you probably not there for as you always tend to fall ill in the middle of the night. I’m not sure of the operating hours though a good rule of thumb would be if the suns out they are open, if dark, closed.
Just some photo’s.

I headed out to Salamander bay for the day and had a great time. It’s not a big Mall but also not small.
It has a food court which is good for its size also it has a few coffee shops, Gloria Jeans being just one of them. You can get a decent feed and lines aren’t a problem as the mall isn’t very busy every time I’ve been there.
Flagship stores are Coles and Kmart. The phone companies are represented but I would google them just to be sure they are still there. Having said that I bought two new phones from there about two years ago and nothing much has changed. There are a lot of speciality stores even for the larger person with Autograph just being one of them.
Parking is very easy and. you will get close to the entrances every time though people out here cannot drive and will take 10 attempts to drive forward into a parking spot due to their age. That’s not being horrible they just shouldn’t be driving if they are so immobile and lack any level of agility or ability to turn their heads.
There are shops on the outer of the centre such as banks and various other stores. It’s definitely the place to go when you’re in the Port Stephens area.

Nelson Bay is in the Port Stephens region of NSW. It’s really pretty and isn’t that far from Shopping.
Every time I’ve been to Nelson Bay it’s been a virtual ghost town. If your plan is to get away from it all you have the right place. You won’t get crowds and it still has services such as Hospitals, Medical Centres, dentists, Supermarkets etc.
Salamander Bay Shopping Mall is nearby. There are plenty of quirky shops on offer also. The roads to the marina make absolutely no sense and there is parking down there for when you can find the right road.
Food is everywhere and that’s a big plus. I can’t say how good or bad it is as I’ve never eaten there.
They have a pretty good RSL as I recall from my days in Gan Gan when I was in the army. You will be hard stretched to find any night time entertainment. They have a board which is shown in the photos of other activities that are available. They do have beaches nearby and the famous Fingal Bay. Fingal Bay. you can walk across to the headland at low tide though I would warn against it as many, and I do mean many, people have died trying to get across or back. When the tide rolls back in its easy to be trapped, and try to get back, hence you die trying.
I would say Id spend a few days in Nelson Bay but that’s only because of my age and I like a bit more of a populated area.

Newcastle’s airport is at Williamstown NSW. Don’t be fooled and think you’re going to be close to Newcastle. From Williamtown, it’s a good 30-minute drive to the city.
The airport has accommodation nearby but there is nothing in the area. You would have to go into the airport to get Hungry Jacks to eat or eat hotel food.
Car hire has all the major’s represented, though the counters are not always staffed. Parking is onsite for a fee with short and long-term parking available. There really is no other way to get to or from the airport except by car.
Fighterworld which is a museum of Australian defence aviation is nearby and there is a fee for entry. Just google it for latest prices. The duration you may expect to stay would be about 45 minutes.

The Oinkers headed to Tuggerah today. Tuggerah is about 2 hours north of Sydney in New South Wales. From Lake Macquarie where we are from its approx 45 minutes, quite a nice drive on good roads too.
They Have a Coles Supermarket and also a Woolworths. I’m not sure if its the lighting but from the front of the stores they look a bit run down and less than vibrant. They are located on opposite sides of the centre also. It’s in stark contrast to the shopping at Stockland Green Hills the other day.
Big W a department store was just ok. they had everything other stores have but again just lacked something and I just don’t know what it is.
They had many a speciality store which makes up for the lacklustre performance of the big Flagship stores. Personally, I liked the Platypus Shoe store where you are able to buy mainly Addidas and Nike. It was bright and everything laid out nicely.
The food court was a bit of a let down also. Yes, you will be able to get food but it really isn’t anything special. It was clean and tables were easy to find.
All in all its worth a visit but not a place to go to unless I was after a specific speciality store. The size is ok as is parking but really the same can be bought anywhere else. As I said the only thing going for this centre is the abundance of speciality stores. Overal 5 oinks out of 10.

Headed out to Stockland Shopping Centre Greenhills. On the way there I saw this Massive Mosquito “Ozzie the Mozzie”. It’s on the sign for the Hexham Bowling Club. It’s one big ass mossie. If you’re in the Newcastle / Lake Macquarie area its definitely worth driving out to and having lunch there.
Once there, you may as well continue on to Stockland Green Hills Shopping Centre. Its had a massive redevelopment and houses all the good retailers and great food. The centre has a mass of coffee shops such as Gloria Jeans et al. All food types are catered for also. Where I’m heading is that if you go there to shop for a few hours allow a bit of time to eat or drink as its really well appointed.
Parking is easy and I am pretty sure its free. I was just there and can’t remember. I’m shocking.
Some shops were a little cold but the main walking areas outside of individual stores were comfortable.
The toilets are great as you would expect when the centre is new but even in the old section they were nice and clean.
I will just stick a few photos in below so you can get a feel for the centre.
If you can see in the Boost Juice photo they were selling Vegemite Milkshakes. OMG WTF

I went to Grumpy Vapes at Cardiff NSW today. I picked up a new Vape for $75. It came with a spare coil and tank. I didn’t need Vape Juice as I still have a lot of the nicotine type. In Australia its illegal to sell Nicotine Vape Juice but you can import it for personal use. I did that, I imported the Juice from New Zealand and it was here in a matter of days. I bought a new Vape as the other I had just wasn’t doing the job and my lips would get burnt from splatter. I tried a friend’s Vape and it was smooth and just Awesome. It’s about a 15-minute drive so I rushed out to get one when they opened. So far so good. Let’s see how long I can last off the smokes for.

The Oinkers had an awesome day in Canberra. We headed to Costco on our way home and right next to it (Across the road) was IKEA. The wife, Pumpkin, Loves Ikea so we had to stop. I decided to take a few photos as I am sure everyone has been into an Ikea before. This one is super huge though. It was polar bear weather outside but the store was heated and not overdone as they tend to do in Canberra. So it was a nice temperature and we ate there also. the food was ok, not a fan but the wife loves it. Anyway here are the photo’s. Click on them to make them larger. Looks much better on a computer monitor than a Tablet. Enjoy!

I’m doing my best to stop smoking. I’ve been smoking since I was 16 and have always failed at every attempt. Cigarettes are $43 a packet at the service station and I’m sick of paying that amount of money out every day. I love smoking and have always loved it from the time when it used to be funny from when I was six taking my fathers cigarettes and smoking them. Yes, funny back then now it would be a big problem for my parents with child protection. I was a little bugger they just couldn’t stop me. This is why it’s so hard for me to quit I believe.
I’ve decided to try Vaping. I’m sure you have heard of it or seen someone somewhere. In Australia, Vaping legalities change from state to state and nowhere you can by Vape Juice with Nicotine legally. You’re allowed to import Nicotine vape juice for personal use so this is what I have done. A kit looks like this, see the photos.
Vaping is massive throughout Asia but also is illegal though widely used in some countries. Thailand its illegal to vape and I have no idea why. My mother is happy with me trying this as anything is better than smoking, healthwise anyway. I can only try and see how long I can last.

Burbury Hotel - Canberra, Australia
Burbury Hotel – Canberra, Australia
1 Burbury Close, Barton, Canberra ACT 2600 , +61 2 6173 2700
We booked the Burbury Hotel through bookings.com and got a really competitive price. We are not affiliated nor did we receive any discounts from Burbury for this review. We stayed for two nights and it had onsite parking. Usually, with onsite parking, it’s still hard to get a spot to park or is very full at best. We had no issue’s with…

The Oinkmobile. took me to Charlestown today. Usually, I just take photos of things that interest me, that may be a shop or something for sale. I take a lot of photos of flowers also and post everything to my Instagram page. My Instagram is SultansofOink, so check it out.
Today I noticed whilst in Coles some great new product lines. One was Kangaroo Burgers and the other Kangaroo Bangers ( Sausages )
You have to give Coles 10 Oinks out of 10 for originality. I am definitely going to try these. They were also really affordable. The pictures don’t show the richness of colour of the meat. It’s a dark red yet vibrant which makes no sense but it also does. How do I feel about the prospect of eating Skippy? Pretty Oinktastic about it actually.
The meat is 98% fat-free which I knew before but I just hadn’t come across Kangaroo apart from the minced meat type.
Please Like and Subscribe. I’m trying to blog daily from all things I come across. We will be going on a cruise soon but you can check out my youtube channel by clicking here.
