I love that the christmas special is a continuation. So much happened this year for the four of them. And then a whole year later, outside of all the sweet scenes, and all the character development, and all the pain we are back here, in this little bubble, this small glimpse we get of the future.

Imagine, you're with the love of your life and then swoosh wind and sand and hes gone. you don't really know what happened. you were too slow you still try to grab for him but you're too slow. 800 years and you are still too slow

Or maybe he was thinking something like 'if only I didn't need to pretend. If only I could use my power' or was already contemplating how to get to Xie Lian or how to get him back

And then from where Xie Lian disappeared his magical tool thingy comes and grabs him

I just like to imagine how relieved Hua Cheng must've felt in that moment
