Tips for Tumblr!
1) Know your audience, or ideal audience. Even when writing opinion pieces, imagine your reader in front of you and speak to them with words you know they can understand.
2) Type professionally, speak simply. There’s no need for flowery language unless there’s no other way to say something.
3) Source your claims! If you’re stating hard facts, there best be a reason behind it. Obviously most blogs work on a small scale but there are some issues with libel in publishing whatever facts you like and publically spreading them.
4) Tags will get your posts seen more often and by the desired audience, so find some relevant key words to add under your post!
5) Tumblr is full of gifs and pics, and they say a picture can say a thousand words. Whether it’s an infographic or a reaction gif, images can add a punch to your blog.

A video game that teaches you how to code
It’s that time of year when we all start making New Year’s resolutions. Why not learn how to code?
“I think everybody in this country should learn how to program a computer because it teaches you how to think,” Steve Jobs said.
But for a beginner, learning to code from scratch can be intimidating.
Enter CodeSpells. UC San Diego computer scientists developed this video game to teach people how to code. The story line is simple: You’re a wizard that uses spells (i.e. code) to navigate through the world, fight off foes, and solve problems.
While experienced coders can delve deep into the programming to create some truly devastating spells, newbies can easily experiment with the simple drag-and-drop coding interface.
If you’re into Minecraft, the CodeSpells team also has developed LearnToMod — a tool that teaches coding through Minecraft.
