Recovery week 1 general themes: - Overwhelming Gratitude from all the support from my Mighty Village. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ - Holy Frak Forking Frak of a fraking fork that hurt. FRAK I never want to do that again. - “Uhhhh. I don’t know…. what *is* my name?” I‘ve been calling this Hell Week without irony. Each day has been a bit better than the last, but it got ugly at times. I am on the mend from the surgery and I think we finally have a grip on this beast of a chaotic nervous system which has made me question my sanity in the more intense moments. It was really hard to open up about this struggle and be vulnerable. And WOW. So so many people have supported us this week and showed up in the best way they could. My gratitude feels deeply insufficient. *Everyday we heard from you. Every card, every text, every call, every app message, every Marco Polo helped. *The flowers and all the sweet gifts to keep me comfortable and smiling did just that. *The prayers, the good thoughts, the healing vibes, and having those you love add me to their prayer lists, thank you. *For those who sat with me so that Chris could have a break. Thank you. *I am so grateful to the folks that dropped off food, scheduled deliveries, and sent delivery service gift cards to keep us fed. We needed it! Thank you. Special thanks to my Peaker Sisters and to Mia - in the midst of a lot of tears and frustration, she has been a great Meal Train flight navigator. Making choices and directing traffic when I couldn’t even tell time or make basic decisions. OK week 2, here we come. This week I managed to wash AND dry my hair. Let’s see if I can up my game to walking down the driveway or down the street. 😲😉💪🏻. 🤞🏻🙏🏻 that we keep headed in the right direction. This beauty of human spent the last week looking after me and I am immensely grateful. - From being the master Rx dispenser to catguidance, gentle suggestions, definitive “no ma’am”s when warranted. She both literally and figuratively took the drivers seat to see me through the week 4 of recovery. - We were in constant adjustment mode as I worked to step off the more powerful meds as part of my recovery plan. It was the harder choice, but only possible because of support from CJ and @kristine_witkowski. - I glad to be on the other side for now. This week reminded me of the ties that bind. We have experienced so much in 33 years of friendship (including her first Buc-ee’s trip) and we have so much farther to go. - Thanks to all the reached out, send food, sent flowers, or sent good thoughts. Thanks for all the birthday love. It’s feels great to be 45. And for lots of reasons, this one hits differently. It’s almost a gift to be acutely aware of the good time we spend and to be grateful for this life. - I’ve got a few hurdles to jump in the coming months, but then it’s on to the next adventure or two and all that year 46 brings. - But first, a few highlights from year 45 - adventures, relaxing, imbibing, quality time, giggling with my favorite teen, snuggling my favorite baby, and laughter. I openly admit, @aireancientbaths_es is the reason I travelled via Barcelona for this year’s Camino. Each day spent in BCN on this trip includes a visit to the thermal baths and a massage. Yesterday it was a deep tissue massage althletico ritual, today a Himalayan sea salt scrub and massage, but tomorrow is the one I am really looking forward to - the four handed massage. 😍😍😍😍 - This place is truly one of my favorite joys in life and cannot be found at home - I am feeling a lot of gratitude right now and really enjoying the moment. Enjoyed a slow lazy morning with breakfast, coffee and the Barcelona Marathon as entertainment.
