Agrimonia

Agrimonia/Agrimony -- Native to Europe, Western Asia, And North Africa. Can be found in Canada and the US. Grows in open feilds
Used for :
Sore throat, upset stomach, mild diarrhea, IBS, diabetes, gallbladder disorders, fluid retention, cancer, tuberculosis, bleeding, corns and warts.
As a gargle : heart tonic, sedative, and antihistamine
Applied directly to skin : used as mild drying agent and for redness of the skin and inflammation
Used as a treatment for cutaneous porphyria -- makes skin very sensitive to sunlight
Tannis in the herb help conditions like diarrhea
For cutaneous porphyria : take crushed agrimonia by mouth 3 to 4 times a day to reduce the forming of sores on skin
How to Harvest :
Prefers full sun, very sturdy and can handle partial shade. Start sowing in winter, keep seed in the fridge for a few weeks before spring planting. Agrimonia is invasive so grow in containers.
Harvest in midsummer or when flowers come into bloom, cut the whole plant and hang to dry. Harvest leaves as needed
Leaves, flowers and stems can be used in herbal remedies, dry and store for later time.
Warnings :
May decreases iron levels
May be unsafe for pregnancies because it is possible this will affect menstrual cycle
Unknown whether you can take this while breastfeeding
Diabetes : may decrease blood sugar levels
Do not use 2 weeks before a surgery, could cause unwanted blood pressure problems
Using this herb while you are using a diabetes medication will lower your blood pressure too much // make sure to monitor closely if you do choose to use herb while on medication
