okay so i had a lot of fun watching Goliath. probably partly cause i saw it with you and such things are always better with friends. i liked it a lot!

BUT

the more i think about it the more i have Notes(TM) on all the shit i take some sort of issue with/would write differently. bear in mind this is from memory because it's been a few days at this point since i saw the episode through.

okay so off the bat: i don't think mike needed some random allegedly unrelated plot with a lady of the week to start. i think you could just get rid of her, as fond as i am of ladies of the week in this show.* (you could make the argument her brother leads mike posthumously to the red bluff thing but uh. i don't know what i'd do about that entire deal with the pan-african liberation movement to be honest.)

like yes sometimes mike needs to be endeavored into the plot. but. not this time. no matter what, the plot is barrelling towards him. in an eighteen-wheeler. (sidenote: i think garthe is fucking hilarious & my reasons for why influence this: i like it when he's just a deranged diva having the crashout of the century. he did do that shit but to be completely fair if my dad left me in a prison somewhere and then scraped off a dead cop off the side of the road like a roadkill armadillo and basically-adopted him and gave him my face i'd freak the fuck out too)

i am also kind of mad about how they endeavor to wreck KITT at the end of part 1(/in the middle of the episode?). if KITT is suggesting they retreat i think that says a lot. in my personal opinion i think they should've tried to escape and still gotten their shit rocked by Goliath anyway. that'd be scary! and also just. not stupid as hell like whatever the original ep was.

ALSO this bit is deleted shit i think they should have kept:

1. i am so mad they removed this scene it's so intriguing and telling and begs a lot of question & analysis on the knight family which i have at least somewhat thought about, and also just like. it gestures at the familiarity these people have with each other before the episode. the history!**

2. i found from an older version of the script(s) or something but: allegedly garthe had a limp and this was removed to make him "mike's physical match" or something. hahaha. did you guys see how quickly he went down when they actually got into a fistfight at the end?? that was fucking hilarious. and makes a lot of sense. bro has been in prison. probably malnourished. and is a rich kid. etc. (and his stupidass [affectionately] little goliath driving flightsuit actually goes a long way for making him look slimmer than michael) the first thing michael does after getting shot in the fucking face is immediately try to get back in shape. presumably he's kept this up. also he's constantly getting into fistfights. he was winning that one no matter what. though i will say one point for this and it's that it means garthe is just carrying that cane around to be extra which is very funny.

3. this is petty but apparently they almost had sympathy for the devil playing as garthe's theme instead of some other song which they should have kept. fuck you
