Annnd... That's a wrap!
Hello everyone! all ... zero of you! This post marks the end of day one! Congrats! You made it. ... I have a few questions for y'all. Obviously this isn't my strongest writing work, but I wanted to know if you liked the perspective. Should I keep this third person POV. Or change it to a more first person perspective. Honestly any suggestions would be appreciated.

Maranda - Day 1 -
Maranda trudged to a nearby art gallery, she needed sleep, fast. Slogging up the stairs she found a lone couch near the stairs. “... I guess it’s going to have to suffice.” She groaned. Counting up every last simoleon she has, she lies down to take a nap. It’s not like she *wants* to sleep on a grungy couch in a poorly cleaned art gallery, but thems’ the works. Plus, she’s planning to find a job tomorrow, she can’t afford to pass out at a crucial moment.

*Splash* … … … “Ugh! This is hopeless!” Maranda shouted. Some passersby gave her a weird look. “Why won’t the fish just … Catch!”

After a good thirty minutes of work, she finally managed to catch her first fish. “Yaaawn” Maranda rubs the sleep out of her eyes. “I really need to get a place to sleep…” She sells the few objects she owns to the mysterious gods of money that live in her pocket. Pop Quiz Time! How many simoleons do YOU think Maranda has? Is it… two hundred? A thousand? Two Thousand? *insert drum roll here* … one hundred … and … three. That's almost enough to buy a few sandwiches!

“But … before I leave…” Maranda muttered to herself. She plopped herself down in a chair next to a bubble machine in the room. “I’ve always wanted to try this,” she says, ignoring the fact that she has no idea what she wanted in the past. *COUGH* *SPUTTER*

… yeesh. The bubbles blast back out of her throat and into the air. “Well … that was a mistake” Ignoring the few weird stares she was getting, she walked out of the room, and into the street, looking for a pond to fish at. After rummaging through a box of garbage for something to sell. And snatching a poster from a locker. She arrived at the nearest pond.

Maranda - Day 1 -
After getting herself cleaned up in the bathrooms she remembered that this art gallery had a bar! She confidently walked right up to the fridge behind the counter and grabbed herself a sandwich.

The worker at the counter couldn’t seem to care less. Choosing to sit down at a table in the same room that she just stole the sandwich from. This level of confidence was new to Maranda, or at least, she thought it was. Perhaps it came with being the main character. She could not live off of free sandwiches alone. as much as she would like to. She needed income, money, simoleons. And she needed them NOW.

Maranda - Day 1 -

Maranda realized that if she didn’t get herself in gear, the first series of rent would demolish her. She drove herself to the city, where she started painting a mural. Hoping to make a start as an artist in the world. Soon she discovered that painting murals were not a particularly profitable venture. However, it did raise her painting skill to a higher level. “Maybe I could start a career in painting.” She thought aloud. She shakes her head “It may do as a hobby, but everyone knows the starving artist archetype.” she says.

While Maranda was painting, two others came over to her area. One of them was a painter, who was not happy with Maranda having taken the mural space. And the other was in a yellow jacket. She seemed nicer, however, Maranda still had her guard up. “Aren’t dogs like … the best?!” The woman said. “Oh uh … yeah mhm the best” Maranda oh, so gracefully responded. After some … stagnant conversation between the two of them. Soon enough, she got the hint. Sometime later Maranda realized that she was getting hungry, it was about this time that she also noticed that she had made nary a simoleon in her entire time here. Realizing that she does need money to live, she reenters the building to get sorted before she braved the city. (little thing for you all to see)

Maranda woke up alone, in the midst of winter. Checking her pockets, she only found her cell phone and the deed to the plot of land in front of her. Not a Simoleon in sight.  “Great,” she thought “I’ll starve to death before the bills get to me. She paced around for a few moments before inspecting the mysterious suit of armor. A small envelope fluttered out, what could it be? A mysterious treasure map, perhaps? She tore open the letter to find ... a bill. She owed 3500 Simoleons to the bank. Maranda tried to remember why she had done this … not even the smallest of memories returned to her.

Maranda LeBlanc is the founder of the LeBlanc Legacy, she discovered herself one day, owning a plot in Del Sol Valley, and 3500 Simoleons in debt. Having no memory of who she was, or why she was in some random plot, she looked around. With nothing more than a suit of armor she set out to begin her legacy.

My Merit Laws.
There is a lot to do in The Sims 4, and by extension a lot of ways to show your worth. The way the Legacy Challenge judges a sims Merit is based off of how many aspirations they have completed at the time that the founder dies, or the current heir brings in a child. I believe that this is flawed, there are many ways to have Merit, many more than just completing your aspirations. So, I devised a new way for an heir to be chosen. Big Change #1 - When the Heir is locked in. Originally, the Heir was "Locked in" once the previous Heir Dies. Or. the one most eligible at the time brings in a child. I thought that this was too grim, and it lowered the odds for a large upset, like a younger sim usurping the throne from their older sibling, so I changed the rules. Once the current Heir dies, the next Heir will be chosen. I made it simpler. With the usage of potions of youth, this may become a bit fuzzy, However, I have faith that it will work out. Big Change #2 - How the "Merit" is counted. I've never liked how the Merit was calculated in the Sims 4 Legacy Challenge, I always thought that it was a waste of all the objective stats the game gives you. I also never liked the negligence of the in game Skills. Like … its the MERIT category. So! I devised a little equation to figure out who the most deserving sim is! Skills - Each skill category will be calculated such that each level of the skill gets you that many points, plus the number of each level prior. I realize that seems kind of convoluted, so here is an example. Say Rachele has a level seven in the Violin skill. The points she would recieve would be 7+6+5+4+3+2+1 = 28 points. This way of counting rewards focusing on certain skills over flipping between many. I thought specialization was important for the heir to a legacy. Maxing a skill gives you 5 extra points. Points earned from maxing a skill Level 5 1+2+3+4+5 + 5 = 20 points Level 10 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10 + 5 = 60 points And for the Vampiric lore, that goes up to 15 … for some reason, I decided to cut each level's point gain in half. Otherwise it would net you 125 points. That's TWO ten level skills, plus change! 0.5+1+1.5+2+2.5+3+3.5+4+4.5+5+5.5+6+6.5+7+7.5 + 5 = 65 points. Aspirations - Ah yes, the aspirations, what once controlled the merit of a legacy, has now fallen, so … very … far. Each level of an aspiration is worth five points more than the last, starting at five points. Finishing an aspiration nets you a fifteen point bonus. For example Bodybuilder - 65 points total Basic Trainer: 5 points Exercise Demon: 10 points Fit to a T: 15 points Bodybuilder: 35 points School - Finishing, or being in school with an "A" is worth 10 Points. Favorites - This isn't exactly … "Merit" However, I thought it would be funny if the previous heir's least and most favorite would get more/less points because of their status. Most favorite - +1 point Least Favorite - -1 point That is all the Ideas I had! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Welcome to the LeBlanc Legacy!
Welcome to the LeBlanc Legacy Challenge! There is much to say, but I think we should start with the basics. The legacy challenge is an alternate way to play the games in the “The Sims” series. This challenge gives you a set of restrictions and goals, however the main purpose is to play ten generations of the sims of one family. This is a test of both patience and skill, where anything could happen. During the legacy challenge the story and game revolves around the Founder and the Heir. The founder is the first sim created for the challenge, starting with nothing their goal is the form the beginnings of what could be a longstanding legacy. The founder also has to acquire children in one way or another, one of which will become the heir to the legacy. This position is honorable and most sims would kill for the chance to get it … if you decide to play your game in a story heavy manner. The way the heir is decided is different for everyone, here are the rules I decided on. Gender Law: Equality. The Gender Law restricts which gender is eligible to become the heir to the legacy. In this case I chose “Equality” which means the position of Heir does not discriminate based on gender. Bloodline Law: Modern. The Bloodline Law restricts the blood relation to the Previous Heir. In this case I chose “Modern” which means the position of Heir does not discriminate based off of if the child is adopted or not. Go adoption! Heir Law: Merit The Heir Law tells us how to decide on an heir, if the previous two laws have not. It acts as a tiebreaker of sorts. In this case I chose Merit, this would usually mean that whichever sim eligible for the Heir position that has the most completed aspirations would get the title, However I believe that there is a lot more to Merit than just aspirations, so I have devised my own point system for calculating the Heir to the legacy. I will put this in a future post. Species Law: Tolerant The Species law determines what species the heirs are allowed to be, this is only relevant with sims that are aliens or anything like that. In this case I chose “Tolerant” which means that the species of the sim has no relevance to the choosing of the heir, so there might end up being a lot of alien babies running amuck. There is one last thing I would like to mention in the rules. I decided to start with the Ultra-Extreme difficulty, this means that my sim is on the large 64x64 plot in Del Sol Valley, In winter, 3500 Simoleons in debt, and with the “Celebrity Lot” trait, which will give my sim an constant Embarrassed moodlet until she pays off her “loan”. Needless to say, she is gonna have it rough. That is all I have to say for now!
