SKIN CARE 🌹
Clear Skin, something everyone wants to have. I’m often asked how’d you get such great skin? My answer is I was blessed but, honestly it’s all due to my routine. It’s inexpensive, easy and has kept my skin in check for years.
First thing when it comes to clear skin, is HEALTHY skin. Your diet is SUPER important, drinking lots of water can help flush out toxins from your body. Eating fruits and veggies can also help promote clear skin. Berries have antioxidants that keep your skin rejuvenated. My all time fave fruit is lemon, not only is it high in vitamin c, it can also help with acne scarring. There are tons of great fruits to eat to promote clear skin such as, kiwi, pomegranate, bananas, apples and the list goes on. Your diet is really big part of your skin being clear and looking youthful. If you have a bad diet, you will have bad skin. Point Blank Period.
Next, you have understand your skin and it’s needs. If your skin is dry, you need maximum hydration, if your skin is oily you need minimal since your skin provides its own oils. If your skin is combination, meaning some areas are dry and others are oily, you can use oil-free products that aren’t too drying. Find out if your skin is sensitive or normal, do you break out from any and everything or is your skin a brick wall. Observe how your skin reacts to certain products; what aggravates your skin, how long does this product keep your skin moisturized, etc. Observation is very important. Don’t try too many products all at once, do tests and see the results. Figure out what products work best for YOUR skin.
Once you’ve started eating better and have figured out what type of skin you have. You can now start to find products that work for your skin. Everyone needs a good moisturizer, toner, face wash and exfoliant. Those are the necessities, after that you can get products that help with your skin problems, such as acne scarring, dark spots and wrinkles.
Face wash- A good face wash should wash out impurities whilst keeping the skin hydrated. Now with very dry skin that can be hard, so I recommend immediately moisturizing after you’ve washed your face. Some of my favorite brands are; Biore, Bliss and Ambi. There are also some great ones from Clean & Clear, Cetaphil, Philosophy, Aveeno, Formula 10.0.6, etc.
Exfoliant- Exfoliation is SUPER important. I personally exfoliate everyday, nothing too harsh but being that I have super dry skin. I recommend exfoliating 3 to 4 time a week with a product but using a washcloth daily. When using the washcloth method make sure to keep a separate cloth for your face specifically. One brand that makes superb exfoliants is St. Ives.
Alternatively you can combine face washing and exfoliating and purchase a face wash that also exfoliates.
Toner- Now although toners are not necessary they can help people with acne and getting rid clogged pores. Basically a toner is an assistant for your face wash. I’ve only used 2 types of toners one by Bliss and diy one consisting of ACV ( apple cider vinegar) and water. I really prefer the acv and water toner best because it’s all natural and i’ve seen better results with it.
Moisturizers- Now depending on your skin type you’ll need a moisturizer that’s semi oily or oil free. Moisturizers should have some type of spf to further protect your skin from the sun rays. I like the natural route such as shea butter, aloe vera, any oil. But my store bought favorites are from Formula 10.0.6, Neutrogena, Cetaphil, Aveeno and CeraVe.
Acne Scarring- To help acne scarring, I wash my scars with Kojic Acid Soap. This is a korean lightening soap, and it works amazing. Shea Butter is an alternative it works just as good but not as fast. Other natural remedies are lemon juice and water, tea tree oil and aloe vera.
Face Masks- These are my favorite part of my skincare regimen. I personally love all natural masks from Lush Cosmetics. Not only are they inexpensive, they are seriously the BOMB.COM. They have masks for all types of skin problems and most of them have exfoliant properties included. Clay and Charcoal Masks are some of my favorites, they get into your pores and flush out the impurities. I recommend to do a face mask every other day or at least 3 days a week.

♡ Love Thyself ♡
Confidence, it’s the key to self love. It’s the thing that makes you feel beautiful even in a room of 100 women. Confidence is knowing that with or without makeup you're still one bad mama jamma. From a young age I always knew that there would never be someone like me and that if I were to live my life happily, I would have to be comfortable in the skin I'm in. In a world full of unrealistic beauty standards, it’s important to understand that you have to love yourself. As young women, were often surrounded by people telling us what is trendy, what we should do for a guy to like us and etc. When more importantly we should be focused on ourselves and learning how to pursue all of our dreams. As women we have to understand that our bodies are so beautiful, we posses the ability to create and we have to cherish ourselves and surround ourselves with people who love and care about us. So many of us rely on someone else to make us feel special and tell us how beautiful we are, when that should come from within. Your biggest fan should be you, you should look in the mirror and smile and know that you matter and you're beautiful no matter what Vogue Magazine says. We often get caught up in the images portrayed to us in the media and we forget that every woman comes in every shade, every size and that we're all different yet beautiful. If you're having issues with self-confidence or self-love I suggest everyday when you wake up in the morning you look at yourself in the mirror and you admire everything you love and hate about yourself, because the more you admire it, the more in love you will become with it. Because at the end of the day what matters the most is what’s inside of your heart and it's all the good that you do in this world. There will only be one you, why not love her?
