do— do vesper and danica stop being enemies and become bickering amicable rivals by the end of the series 🥺
LMAO in my head, Vesper is The Final Boss in Spica Strike!, so I don't think the twins resolve their issues until very nearly the end! Like, in Kuroko no Basuke terms, Vesper is Akashi
#ask#and another lovely day#spica strike is just a thinly veiled amalgamation of haikyuu + kuroko no basuke + ping pong lmao#i have a basic premise and some character dynamics sorted so nora and elliot can talk about it coherently#but it's just a comic-in-a-comic so i certainly don't have spica strike's plot points or anything like that planned out ha ha

I really enjoy And Another Lovely Day! What was your inspiration for the title, if you don’t mind me asking?
Thank you so much!
And tbh I didn't put too much thought in it! I wanted a fluffy slice-of-life type of title (like "Seasons of Blossom", "From Me to You" etc.), and I liked how "And Another Lovely Day" implies that the protagonists' everyday lives/circumstances are both ordinary ("And Another") and full of love ("Lovely").
(I worried that it was too close to the Korean title of "A Good Day to Be a Dog", which I think is usually translated to "Lovely Again Today" or "It's Lovely Today Too"--but luckily, I haven't run into any problems)
(I also considered "Non-RomCom" since I think that phrase is funny and meta in a way that's trendy nowadays, which I why I use it whenever I describe the comic! But I didn't want to define the story by what it isn't, and one of the key guidelines I wrote for AALD is that it isn't anti-romance or anti-sex. I also felt that that sounded kind of smug (?) in a way I didn't like.)

I looove characters who are fun and cheerful but also run away from serious conflict lmao
Some And Another Lovely Day text post memes I made to hold readers over during the month-long pause in updates
(The new episode is available now on my Patreon for the Highlighter and Pencil Case tiers, though!)

Another question for you :•] (I may have a few but you don't have to answer them)
With both GM and AALD both being set in realistic settings does this mean they exist in the same world? I've been thinking a lot lately on how the characters would interact (and if Lucy and Graham would enjoy Spica Strike)
Thanks
Hey there! There's zero planned crossover between GH and AALD, but I think they certainly could exist in the same world--I don't think Graham reads much, but the Apple Trio (Lucy, Joanna, and Walt) might read Spica Strike!
(If anything, AALD exists in the same world as the "magical girl and isekai hero grow up and become schoolteachers" and the "shut-in author and invisible guy are neighbors" stories I've mentioned in the past, since I reused some of the assets I bought/made for those stories in AALD!)
#ask#and another lovely day#gourmet hound#in ep 10 (or 9? i can't remember) some of the books that elliot is putting away are the memoirs of one of the magical girls#and novels by the protagonist (aster) of the invisible neighbor story!

Hi I was rereading Gourmet Hound (it's my favourite web comic, but as an ace arospec person who enjoys not rom coms I am greatly enjoying Another Lovely Day so far) and I was wondering if the YouTube channel you mentioned in the afterword was Sorted Food? I happened to have them playing in the background as I was reading lol
It was! I haven't watched them in a long time, but I still have a lot of affection for the channel for getting me through college :)
#ask#nowadays i tend to prefer vlog-type cooking channels over recipe/cooking challenge-type channels

Happy International Asexuality Day! 🖤🩶🤍💜
HELLO could I interest you in a (non) rom-com about two aroace coworkers who, after an accidental meet-cute outside of work, mistakenly believe the other is in love with them?
🌟 And Another Lovely Day 🌟 is my new comic project that I'll start publishing soon (hopefully in the next week or so)!
🌟 [Edit:] It's here! Please check it out on WEBTOON Canvas (or the page-format version at @aald-comic) ! 🌟
Support the production of this comic on Patreon!
#and another lovely day#this first ongoing arc is more about aromanticism but it does touch on asexuality too!

Is there any chance of a physical edition of gourmet hound?
It's one of my favorite webcomics
If it ever happens, I'll be sure to make an announcement! Print publication of webtoons have definitely become more feasible since GH ended, but it still takes a lot of work to get a publishing deal!

Hi Leehama, I hope you're doing well! I recently saw the notification that Gourmet Hound is going to be on DailyPass starting April 17th, and I just was curious to know why it was suddenly decided to be on DP even though the webtoon has already ended for so long and stayed free all these years? Definitely understand if it's a money issue or something else that came up, but just wanted to know because I think you mentioned once you weren't gonna put it on DailyPass (might've misremembered it though, sorry!!)
Anyway I still love the story a lot, and am incredibly thankful you shared it with us. If anything, this now gives me a good reason to re-read it again before it gets locked behind DP >:D.
Hi there! I don't want to talk too in-depth about behind the scenes matters, but as mentioned before, GH not being on Daily Pass was predicated on a pretty tenuous technicality and something I've been approached about and had to shut down continuously since GH ended. Although I probably could've continued stonewalling about it, it got to a point where I had to weigh it against what position it'd put me in for future business dealings.
I'm super grateful to readers who are still reading Gourmet Hound all these years later! I know it isn't ideal, but I did my best to negotiate as many unlocked chapters as I could + make sure it was part of the whole-series purchase program so it could be unlocked permanently all at once.
#ask#also i figured that 5+ years was long enough for people to post it to 🏴☠️ sites#so like... it's there to read for free if you look lmao it only took me a couple of minutes to find several 👍#gourmet hound

I really appreciate you making a comic about older aroace characters. A lot of stories are about teenagers, and everyone always brings up how aroace people “can’t be happy later in life” (marriage, kids, being lonely, etc), so it’s nice to see characters that are ~30 and living happy lives!
Hey there, thank you so much! I did specifically write AALD not to be a coming-of-age story, in the sense that I'm less interested in writing about the aspec characters figuring out their identities than exploring how it affects their daily lives as adults in society (ex. Nora's concerns about how she'll always be single-income while her married sister has more options as part of a double-income household, how marriage/relationship status can affect your standing in the workplace, etc.)
The characters in AALD are still young adults, and there are characters who are still figuring themselves out--but it's been fun to write about characters who aren't just facing the future with their identities, but have already taken a few steps into it!
#ask#and another lovely day#also i don't think i'd do a good job writing a coming-of-age story lmao#my writing already leans kind of simple/saccharine and i think you need a deft hand to write a coming-of-age story about identity without#it sounding moralistic or like you're trying to teach the reader a lesson ha ha

Hi! I’ve been thinking about Gourmet Hound and specifically Lucy and her tendency to like people who give her food. I was wondering, do you think she’d be on the aro/ace spectrum? Gray maybe?
The only GH character I wrote with the intention of being aspec is Chef Bartlett, but that doesn't exclude the possibility of other characters being aspec too! If you're specifically talking about Ep. 63 - Blueberry Pie, the joke there is supposed to be that all of Lucy's crushes kinda look like Graham, but Joanna, Walt, and Graham are getting distracted by the detail that they gave her food--but that doesn't mean there aren't other interpretations of the scene than what I intended!
#gourmet hound#ask#i also considered making heath aspec for a bit but didn't end up writing him in any particular way (at least intentionally)#tbh i'm in the hands-off 'i take no part in fan interpretation/headcanons of my work' camp of writers#so when i get questions like this i don't think saying i agree makes it a more valid interpretation or me disagreeing makes it less valid#bc a reader is engaging with my work not with me!#(obviously every creator's opinion on this varies and i do firmly believe you should not shove uncomfortable interpretations in a creator's#face/post about it where they can find it especially if they ask not to)#(but for headcanons like this--hell yeah go wild with it!)
