Today marks the 76th anniversary of the Nakba.
On such a day that holds so much sadness and anger and pain for any Palestinian anywhere in this world, we usually dedicate this day to learning more about our history and commemorating the stories of our loved ones who had witnessed the 1948 Nakba.
So on such a not so happy occasion, i’d like to recommend you a documentary that talks about the indigenous people of Ma’loul, a Palestinian village depopulated in 1948.
The documentary is called “Ma’loul Celebrates Its Destruction” by Michel Khleifi, and it follows Ma’loul’s past residents as they show us how they have their own special -and slightly bitter- way of commemorating this day and how they fight to hold onto their original hometown and roots, year after year, in the shadows of the occupation.
Please dedicate these few days to learn more about the history behind what we’re witnessing today
And remember that no one is free until we all are…
🕊️🤍🍉

Thank you kind soul who informed me this was a scam. A disheartening experience, to know people are taking advantage of the situation, but I’m glad to be educated and be able to at least report the blog
Hello this a long shot call, am Elizabeth a citizen of Palestine. I am here to request for your support to help get my insulin (Humalog), I was diagnosised with type 1 diabetes and due to current situation in Gaza I'm unable to get my insulin injection as a result I'm here begging for little financial support to help me purchase insulin for this week. Any donation will mean world to me. You can donate using the link in my pinned post. Thank you 🖤
EDIT: WAS INFORMED THIS IS A SCAM
I’m so sorry I can’t help much at all, Elizabeth. I would donate if I had any to spare, but money has been tight and we’ve had to stretch what we can to make do. My heart goes out to you and yours; I’m so sorry for what you’re being put through. If I am ever able to, I’ll try to send something your way.

I'm sure you've seen a ton of posts like this by now but if you're able to, please check out the Operation Olive Branch spreadsheet.
They currently (5/7/24) have a list of 848 families that need funding to escape Gaza. Anything you can donate will help no matter how small. It all adds up significantly, especially the more people that share and donate.
If you're not in a position where you can donate then please at least share. The more people that do, the better chance there is for these families to get help.
Don't stop talking about Palestine

Not everyone in Malmo was welcoming the Eurovision Song Contest to town.Thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators protested in the Swedish port city on Thursday against Israel’s participation in the pan-continental pop competition.Protesters waving green, white, black and red Palestinian flags packed the historic Stortorget square near Malmo’s 16th-century town hall before a planned march through the city for a rally in a park several miles (kilometers) from the Eurovision venue. Police estimated that between 10,000 and 12,000 people took part. Among those in the crowd was Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. Chanting “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!” and “Israel is a terror state,” the demonstrators set off smoke flares in the Palestinian colors during a noisy, peaceful rally to criticize Israel and call for a cease-fire.

It's a minor case but something that annoys me about the whole EBU silencing the protest during Israels performance is as far as I can remember that one year the crowd was booing those Russians twins (tolmachevy sisters in 2014 I think) and that wasn't cut out of the Livestream. So Russia was allowed to be publicly boo'd and got ultimately banned from the competition but Israel gets to perform anyway and gets special treatment on top of that.
Huh
(Repost because I wanted to make sure its clear that Russia being excluded from ESC is 100% justified and the same should go for Israel but as I said special treatment at its finest)

Hi friends, I am learning this morning that Joost Klein and the Netherlands as a whole may be disqualified from Eurovision. Why is that, you ask? Well, our lovely Dutch gabber chose to do a little heckling during the press conference, shouting"Why not?" After the Israeli press rep told Eden Golan that she didn't have to answer a question regarding why she felt comfortable performing the show when it put others in danger. He also would actively cover his head with a flag during her speaking portions. As well, he explicitly asked for the Isreali team to not record him during some of their video filming. They did anyway. That takes us to today, where, from down the grapevine I hear that comments were made by the Israeli team regarding Joost's deceased father of whom his song is dedicated to, and he retaliated full force. Not sure what this means, or what will happen to him, but I support him in standing up to Isreal on what is at present one of the largest Israeli stages.

”We condemn the human violations done by the state Israel. And its attacks on the freedom of the press. This is why we have temporary halted this segment of this broadcast.”
