one other thing that really makes me roll my eyes in dc fics is the insistence that the bats can take down anyone, even their most op teammates. like... you guys know a character doesn't have to be the most physically capable one in the room in order to be interesting or strong in their own right, right? look me in the eye. cass had to save tim from shrike. bane broke bruce's back. mind-controlled kon snapped tim's arm like a twig. trying to make them ~always~ able to counter even the most powerful opponents is so boring im sorry like they can and do lose fights sometimes, and that's interesting actually. they are all incredibly competent martial artists, yes! that doesn't mean they can win every single matchup. that's simply neither the point of nor the strength in their characters.

Thinking about powers... and what they mean to people...
To Mob its a hindrance, an unnecessary addition, something separate from him that's evil and bad and should be contained
To Teru its the complete opposite, it's an integral part of him, of his identity, its something to flaunt and be proud of
To Ritsu its a new thing so he for sure doesnt consider it something natural, I think to him its like with Mob, a separate thing from himself, but not in a bad way? He doesn't view his powers through a negative lens, he just views them as a skill, as something to be learnt, something that's useful and practical, an idea that exists separate from his self
To Ritsu its a tool, a weapon, a defense mechanism. Its a goddamn pipe dream turned reality

look i'm one of cardan's biggest fans, and yes i am immensely fond of characters who are straight up terrible ppl, ... that being said i don't trust ppl who read cardan's first appearance in tcp, immediately fell in love with him, and started shipping him with jude right then and there

Wait while I'm here lemme say something that's been on my mind for like 2 weeks at least. So, Yahiko was alive when Obito first came to Ame and talked to Nagato. The canonical ages of Obito and Nagato in shippuden are 31 and 35 respectively. So the ame orphans are all 4 years older than Obito. Considering Yahiko died at 15, the oldest Obito could be when meeting Nagato is..... 11. When did Obito have his death scare and meet Madara before leaving for Ame??? When he was 13. Sooooo... unless I somehow got something wrong, and please correct me if I did, Kishimoto is once again a hack fraud.

sometimes I'm like, oh I'm not that predictable about what kinds of characters I get obsessed with, and then I see a bastard with ten tons of trauma and daddy issues and it's over for me so quick I don't even have time to put the clown shoes on
