Warnings : death(ig, man up)
Genre : angst
Words- 500ish (short)
[First person pov]
“[NAME]!” I hear from across the field of ice, Whitebeard calls distraughtly.
Ripping my blade from another man's body I wipe my head around with concern quickly building. Taking the opening many more marines jump on my back, and with the small crack between the men’s bodies I saw Ace fall.
I don’t know if I saw anything after that… it was just flashes until I was in front of him.
“[Name]?” Ace questions softly, his vision blurry and with the warm body of his brother holding him I can’t imagine how difficult it is to know what going on around him. Collapsing to my knees looking at the man I’ve loved for years, fallen.
Luffy looks to me with tears in his eyes I reach out my arms to him indicating it’s my turn to hold the dying man.
I pull him close to my chest, and with my eyes closed I use the last of my strength to listen to what he has to say. “[Name] you still look as pretty as when I first met you… is there any way I could see you smile again? I don't wanna go when you're so sad,”
“How could you ask that right now?” I hold back the voice cracks with my teeth hitting hard into my lip.
Laying Ace down on the floor slowly I pull my blade to my chest. “[Name] what are you doing?” Luffy asks and when Ace looks up to see what his brother was so worried about blood splattered to the ground.
I groan digging the sword out and throwing it to the side. Then I flop on my back, meeting eyes with Ace.
“Why’d-”
I cut him off with my finger to his lips. “Don’t worry you’ll still go first. There's no need for you to see anyone else die… but I can't live without you.” I smile softly rolling to my side and putting a hand on his cheek. “I think it’ll be easier this way,”
The rest of the white-beard crew runs to our blood pools.
“Captins?!”
“[Name] we can still help-”
“No, let them be,” White-beard interrupts. The crew looking back at him all share the same expression of horror. “Go!” he shouts.
The crowd thins with only our captain standing over us.
“Hey pops, I'm real sorry,” I smile at him with my eyes finally getting heavy. “Before I go, can I ask you one last favor?”
The older man only nods.
“Find our devil fruits and keep them safe… for when we come back,”
Ace chuckles. With one last look at him, he closes his eyes. Scratching across the hard and rattled floor, my last course of action is to take Ace's head to my chest, holding his hands as his pulse fades.
Only a few seconds later do I no longer feel anything…
