Almost Heaven - @levislattes created the most wonderful escape with this Alaska AU, it's my favorite fic from the first half of this year.

Legacy by Haedraulics - I was so compelled by this one, set in an AU in which Erwin and Levi both fight for Marley, but Levi is still an Ackerman. Idk I was thinking about it for weeks.

Ace by Karumen - I'm partial to this one because I was the beta for it! Eruri high school baseball AU.

Bodywork by @rooksacrifice - This fic is FOOD. I swear Laz writes sexual tension so well.

Beastiarium by Mysh - Smutty dragon Erwin AU. Completely over-the-top melodramatic. Mysh is a visionary and I love it.

Nebula by aelandair - This is the famous "egg fic." Dead dove do not eat but also everybody likes it and if you say you don't I don't believe you.

Honey by @leverwings - Oh my god. Oh my GOD. Rarely am I treated to something so atmospheric and well-written. Modern New Orleans AU in which Levi is a vampire and Erwin is a very successful vampire hunter. OH and did I mention she has an ACTUAL PUBLISHED NOVEL coming out literally next week? But I'm Still unsure. Is there anything you would recommend to read from official/canonical things? Idk-... I JUST WANNA KNOW EVERYTHING ABT ERURI😭😭😭

Hello and a very warm, if belated, welcome to the Eruri fandom!  Your English is perfect, no need to apologise at all.  The good news is that there is a HUGE archive of Eruri meta and information here on tumblr that fans have created over the years.  A lot of it is old now, because it was written at the time the manga was being published, but that doesn’t make it any less relevant, quite the opposite in fact! There is a treasure trove of canon information and analysis here that some newer fans may not be aware of.  I have an old Eruri Starter Pack post and also a Meta Rec post, some of the blogs recommended here are no longer active but it’s well worth browsing through their archives.  

My own meta is tagged Eruri Relationship,  Erwin Meta,  Levi Meta. Other people’s meta that I’ve reblogged is tagged Amazing Meta.   @tsuki-no-ura is the most active meta blogger on tumblr these days.  They are incredibly generous, patient and insightful with their translation skills. Diving into their blog is endlessly fascinating and educational. @momtaku’s blog is still one of the most comprehensive in the fandom and all her posts are tagged and organised.  @yusekni translated a lot of the supplementary material such as the Smartpass stories, guidebooks and fan Q&A’s.  Don’t miss the Smartpass Erwin and Levi Up Close interviews (part 1 / part 2). @ningen-suki also shared a lot of great information from the Japanese side of the fandom. @erbeansandravioli’s Eruri Receipts post is very old now, but it’s still a great source. 

If you haven’t already read the SnK and ACWNR mangas, read them now! Erwin and Levi’s relationship has so much more depth and nuance than in the anime.  I can also highly recommend reading the official Answers book and Character Encyclopaedia which include key information from Isayama himself about Erwin and Levi’s characters, motivations and relationship.

That analysis post about why Levi likes tea so much reminded me, with this panel, of something I also don't think people fully understand. Which is why Levi was so angry at Erwin at first, and why he was so out for his blood.

It's because he threatens Furlan's and Isabel's lives here. He orders his men to hold their swords to their throats, simply because Levi had refused at first to give him his name. Levi's belligerence on that front is rooted, I think, in how Erwin and his men are treating him and his friends. Having them down on their knees, in the filth and mud, with their arms bound behind their backs, making demands of them all the while. It's made worse when Erwin orders Mike to push Levi's face into the sewage. And that's what it is. It's sewage, not simply mud. You can see it coming out of the drain pipes. Levi was deeply upset by this, and understandably so. Putting someone's face into a puddle of sewage is a ghastly thing to do, especially when one really considers what the consequences of something like that could be. There's all sorts of diseases one could contract from inhaling that kind of filthy water. But it's what happens next that I think really drove Levi to wanting to kill Erwin.

Isabel is certain that the scouts are going to kill them in the above panel, and in a show of defiance, tells them to just get it over with. Furlan's face is frozen in fear, sweat trickling down it, because he feels the threat is real too.

But look at Levi's face.

Where before he'd only been angry, here, he's horrified, shocked and frightened. He realizes, suddenly, that Erwin isn't just capable of humiliating them, but seemingly willing to take their lives if he doesn't comply. He's threatening the only two people Levi has in his life. The only two people he's ever been able to call friend, and really, are more like his family. The two people he's done all he can to protect in the dangerous world of the Underground City. Basically, the two people he lives for.

I think some people tend to think Levi wanted to kill Erwin over wounded pride. Even just calling what Erwin did, before ordering his men to hold their blades to Isabel's and Furlan's throats, a case of wounded pride is an understatement, I think. He thoroughly humiliated Levi and his friends, and treated them inhumanely, as if they had no rights or autonomy. But it really wasn't that which drove Levi toward wanting to kill Erwin. It was that Erwin presented himself as a threat to his family.

thinking about how time heals all wounds but for satoru it didn't.

ten years is a long fucking time. over the years, most of us meet friends, lovers, even sometimes family that hop on and off the elevator of life. not everyone rides to the top. most of us understand this, and time helps blur the scars people leave behind. but not for satoru.

an entire DECADE passed and the only time he ever let his lighthearted mask slip was in front of suguru. no smiles, no jokes, no goofy attempts at humour— ironically, satoru appearing completely devoid of emotions was the telltale sign that he was bursting with them. suguru was so clearly still his entire world, and satoru's cold, impassive facade was a glaring red sign that he never got over him.

the clearest picture we've ever seen of who satoru really is only comes out when he interacts with suguru. the friendly, cheerful, cocky bastard that everyone knows is a costume. sure, it's part of who he is, but the smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes (not that anyone could tell because eyes are the windows to the soul and satoru put up a literal fucking barrier) when he says i'm the strongest is really there to cover up the fact that there used to be a we in that declaration.

when suguru is dying, satoru doesn't mince his words. he doesn't goad him, he doesn't joke, he doesn't smile. the last thing suguru hears before dying by satoru's hand is a raw admission of who satoru really is. because satoru is suguru's; he always has been, and he always will be. that is the nature of gojo satoru's truest self.

and the only person that could draw it out of him, even after a decade, was suguru. always suguru.
