shadesof-sage:
“Maybe not that long,” Sage conceded, tilting her head back so there was more of her neck exposed for him to kiss, letting her eyes flutter shut. “I could forgive you a little sooner… if you prove you deserve it.” She told him, although in truth she was already starting to melt as he kissed his way down her body, his lips sending heat through her skin everywhere he kissed.
“Oh, I think you know I deserve it,” Lennox teased as he grasped the edge of the shirt he’d given Sage to sleep in the night before. He pulled back just enough to tug the shirt up over her head and toss it aside, but his lips were back on her warm skin within seconds. No matter how long they spent apart, being with Sage felt natural. “The question is whether or not you can handle my persuasive tactics.” Pinning her hands by her head, Lennox flicked his tongue against one of her nipples before enveloping it with his lips. He gripped her wrists tightly, making sure she knew she wasn’t supposed to move them.

Awkward Encounters
The cafe always calmed down after lunch time, once everyone got their midday caffeine hit and went on their way. Although he knew it wasn’t the best work habit, he usually settled down at one of the tables and spent a good hour or two reading the new arrivals. Scratching Cattitcus under the chin absentmindedly, Lennox flipped the page...then nearly jumped out of his seat as the bell on the door rang to signal someone had walked into the shop. Catticus let out an angry meow and jumped to the floor as Lennox pulled himself together. “Can I get you a coff-” but when the customer came into view, Lennox flushed. “a coffee. Can I get you a coffee?” // @hus-sara

“There’s gotta be like… a park or something right? Sometimes abandoned places can be pretty,” Grey shrugged, what the hell did he know about romantic locales? “Nah, I skipped that whole shindig. I had a job that night,” he told him, it’d been a good time to get shit down, with half the city at one place. “I’m all right, could do with a bit more work, but at least I’m not homeless.”
“Mmm, maybe by the Waterfront.” Lennox hadn’t made up his mind about where to propose to Sage yet, and he wasn’t sure he would until the exact moment he got down on one knee. If he did. “A job, huh?” Lennox raised his brows, mostly amused. “You didn’t miss much. It was a pretty stuffy party. I hid from some fae who were trying to make rotten deals. Found a sex dungeon. You know, usual party stuff.” His lips turned down a little at the talk of work. “I’ll keep my ears open and recommend you if anyone’s looking for your kind of services. You’ve just got to make a name for yourself with the right crowd...and hope that the people who pay well end up in power, and the people who’d put a stop to your work don’t.”

Sage shot him a look that was all daggers, an approximation of the look she’d give him if he were so stupid. She laid back as he climbed on top of her, looking up at him. “I guarantee you that it would not be worth it. I guarantee that you would regret it for a very, very long time.”
Even as Sage gave him a look worthy of her magical specialty, Lennox just chuckled and braced his arms on the pillows. He wasn’t afraid of her bark or her bite. He pressed his lips to hers briefly before making a painfully slow trail of kisses down her neck. He paused at the sensitive flesh of her throat, his lips hovering just over her skin. “How long? Forever?” Softly, he continued his careful path down her neck, not stopping even when he reached her chest. “Because I think I have a few ways I could get back on your good side.”

stormyand-grey:
“You should ask a woman,” Grey advised, it might be sexist but he figured they’d know more about it than he would. “I don’t know, just take her somewhere… romantic, or something. Somewhere she likes. The first place you took her on a date?” Grey suggested, although it occurred to him they probably weren’t from here. “You could watch some rom coms for ideas.”
“You do realize we live in a half-abandoned city, right?” Lennox laughed, shaking his head. The list of romantic spots was pretty small. He knew he would figure out the right way to do it, but the pressure of proposing in the perfect way (because despite what Sage said, Lennox thought it had to be perfect) was weighing on him. “Enough about my bullshit. How are you doing? Did you go to that party the other night?”

“Good boy,” Sage praised him, she hadn’t spent all these years breaking him in for nothing. “I’ll let you figure it out. I trust you,” she told him, she wasn’t going to take his moment from him. She could be a bully, but she wasn’t when it came to Lennox. She like that they had a healthy give and take. “But as long as you don’t do something garish and public, and it ends with a ring on my finger, we’ll count it as a success.”
“Oooooh, can you imagine? Me getting down on one knee in front of a whole crowd. I can just picture the sharp look you’d give me.” Grinning wide, Lennox wiggled his arm out from around Sage and climbed over top of her, pushing the covers back as he did so. “Then again, I do like when you get stern. Maybe it would be worth it just to see your face.”

“He doesn’t pussyfoot around,” Grey chuckled, he could respect that. “You’re proposing? Shit man, I don’t know anything about that,” his eyes widened, he hadn’t even known Lennox was seeing anyone. “What’s there to plan? Don’t you just gotta whip out the ring and hope for the best?”
Lennox rubbed his face, as if that might help clear his thoughts. Of course, it didn’t. “No one knows anything about it. Isn’t there anyone in this town who knows something about getting engaged? Other than the whole buying a ring part?” Lennox supposed this was his own fault. He was the one who had waited so long. “I don’t know! Maybe it’s that simple. But what if it’s not? I think I’d rather stick my head in ice water than plan this.”

Sage set her mostly-finished coffee down on the side table, before she rolled closer against Lennox’s side, resting her head against his chest. “Are we? I wouldn’t know, since you haven’t asked me yet,” she replied innocently, holding up her left hand to show that there was not yet a ring on it.
Lennox rolled his eyes, but not in an annoyed way. Tightening his grip around her, he planted another kiss in her hair. “You told me I couldn’t propose at the party. I’m not going to ask in a place where you’ll say no. That would be mortifying.” Chuckling, he laced his fingers with hers, his heart quickening as he thought about the actual proposal. “It has to be perfect. You’ve waited a long time for it...so I want to make sure it’s special.”

“The marketplace?” Andrea suggests after a moment of thought. It was true. Shadowfalls was a fledgling town, recently awakened by the immigration of supernatural creatures. It was hardly a shopping mecca. “I saw they had some gorgeous diamond rings.” She smiles, putting her coffee cup down. “And yes, I’m the girl who peruses diamond rings in my free time. Sue me.” Between the two, she’d always been more traditional. “Or maybe there’s a spell you could use?”
“I don’t think I should venture into any vampire territory right now. Speaking of which...I may need you to pick up some groceries for me.” Lennox scrunched up his nose. His spat hadn’t been with Jacques, but he wasn’t sure he wanted to risk the vampires aligning over wanting to destroy his chances of making policies in the city. “I don’t know. Maybe there’s some private jewelry maker or dealer...I’ll look into it. But if I’m going to do this...it has to be perfect.” Snorting, Lennox nearly choked on his coffee as he took a sip. “Andy, of all the things that might surprise me about you, that’s not one of them. Of course you peruse diamond rings in your free time.”

“I’m great with painting, drawing, but also just creating. I used to make my own jewelry in high school. I have a ton of them already, but they’re flawed the color is a bit off, the canvas a bit too new. I’m working my way up to my favorite Starry Night. But this one in particular I was asked to make. So I’m not keeping this one. Though if a stranger walked into my house to the untrained eye, they’d think they walked into a mini art museum.” Though her best works were rarely kept, she did keep the trial and errors that were close.
“Oooh, I’m pretty handy. Not with creating stuff with Jewelry, but...fixing things. Woodworking. That kind of thing.” Granted, Lennox could just burn whatever he didn’t like, which made for a quick clean up. He pushed the fresh cup of coffee toward Skye and went about pouring his own. “Oh? Is someone buying it off you? That’s a good way to earn a living in this city, I guess.”

andyalvarezz:
She wordlessly quirks a brow, noting the slight tilt in Lennox’s tone. It was no secret that between the pair, he was more resistant against the institution of marriage. “This is a good thing.” Andrea reinforces. “People get married for a lot of reasons. All signs are pointing to yes. I’d follow it if I were you.” Laughing heartily at the irony, she shakes her head. “Is it that surprising? I feel like the coven and I have just been waiting for the two of you to figure it out.” She takes a sip of her coffee, shrugging. “It’s not my fault that no one here is marriage material.” She defends with a chuckle. “But if Ryan Gosling comes in here to order a cup of coffee, I expect you to cast a spell until I can get my hair done and get here.” She leans back in her seat, a curious look on her face. “Have you picked a ring yet?”
Is it, though? Lennox couldn’t help but ask himself silently. He wanted to be with Sage, forever, and he wanted to make her happy...but what was he giving up in return? He chewed on his lower lip, but chuckled and did his best to ignore the doubt creeping into his mind. “No, no of course not. It just...I just made up my mind last night, and then we were together until this morning. I only left to come here and open up the shop. I haven’t had time to pick out a ring yet. The real question is whether anywhere in Shadowfalls will have a ring worth buying.”

“Bet I can bet which ones…” Grey grinned, he had a feeling he knew who the cat really hated. He sipped his coffee, shrugging, he took a seat at Lennox’s question. “I don’t have anywhere to be right now, what’s on your mind, man?”
Lennox snorted, “Yeah, it’s not a hard guess. Catticus doesn’t exactly hide his hatred.” It was a miracle no one had thrown a huge fit about the cat yet - especially since Catticus liked to bully customers he didn’t like. Lennox plopped into the chair across from Grey and sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I need to plan a proposal. A marriage proposal. And you know what? I think planning that part might actually be more frightening than the idea of marriage.”

“Well, this vampire has no idea what they’re in for. Besides,” she shrugs, the realization coming to her. “If you do end up engaged, you’ll have the collective power of both covens. No one would dare mess with that. If they do, they’ll be in over their head.” From what she witnessed at the Manor Party, people were quick to build alliances. But politics was not set in stone, and alliances shifted as quickly as they are formed. “Good call. Well,” she shrugs. “If you ever need a caterer, or to close off the restaurant – let me know.”
“Yeah. That’s kind of the point. I mean, I love Sage,” Lennox spoke quickly, afraid that he had blundered and made it sound like the marriage wasn’t about that. “And she loves me. For sure. There’s no doubt about that. But uniting the covens is...an added bonus. Even if I’m not sure marriage is necessary to do it.” In fact, he was sure marriage wasn’t necessary to do it. His stomach did a flip at the thought. He sipped at his coffee, trying to push the feeling down. “You’re sweet. I’ll definitely let you know. If someone had told me I’d be getting married before you, I would have laughed in their face. You’re way more of the marrying type. Me...I am....well, I don’t think I scream ‘husband material’.“

“Well… he did just recently finish building that garish heap of marble and glass, right? It could be he was paying for the supplies and construction,” she suggested. Sage wasn’t always quick to jump to the worst possible scenario, although she always considered it. “Yeah, send me the photo. I can do a little digging, see what we turn up. If someone’s making deals with humans for more than supplies, we ought to know about it, maybe do something about it.”
“You’re the best,” Lennox nodded, satisfied with Sage’s answer. She was often more level-headed than he was. Lennox almost always jumped to a conclusion and held it until proven wrong. He sank back against the pillows, his arm still loosely wrapped around Sage. “So...we’re really going to do this, huh? We’re going to finally...you know. Tie the knot.”

“Just be careful, okay?” Andrea encourages, placing her hand on his wrist and squeezing meaningfully. “What was the fight about, anyways? Anything we need to worry about?” She trusted her supreme, but knowledge of what was to come made all the difference. Better their coven anticipate it now, than react to it later. Her smile brightens, a rush of emotion for her supreme overwhelming her. “I never thought I’d see the day.” She says admirably, the sight of his genuine happiness a true surprise. “I wish our mom’s were here to see it.” With a bittersweet sigh, she shakes her head to stop from gushing. “Alright, so what’s the plan? How are you gonna do it?”
“Let’s call it a difference in desired policies when a government is established.” Lennox didn’t want to tell Andy the specifics of the conversation. He thought they would only make her worry, and in his mind, she was already such a worrier. He didn’t want to put anything else on her shoulders. “Yeah...yeah, me too.” The mention of their mothers made his face harden a little. He was trying hard not to think about the fact that his mother and sister wouldn’t be there if and when he and Sage got married. “I’m not exactly sure yet. I’ll be in private, for sure, no public proposal. She’d hate that. I haven’t worked out all the details yet.”

Her eyes immediately snap up from her fresh cup of coffee, blazing concern over her supreme. “A spat with a vampire? Are you all right? Are you hurt?” The attack on their coven was still fresh on her mind, a reminder of how quickly their peaceful existence could go South. Without her mother, Lennox was all that remained as a semblance of family. Her concerned expression shifts to surprise, silent as she chews on his words. “More than girlfriend?” She repeats, before leaning forward away from listening ears. “Lennox Bishop, are you engaged?”
“We didn’t physically fight. I’m fine, I’m fine.” Lennox waved his hand to dismiss her worry. He wasn’t even worried about the threats the Youngblood Clan Elder had made. “It was a verbal scuffle. Nothing to worry about. Those vampires are all show, and if they aren’t, I’ll deal with it.” Lennox’s stomach did a flip. The idea of being with Sage forever was exciting...but the word ‘engaged’ made him slightly sick. Still, Lennox’s smile was genuine as he leaned forward too. “Not yet. But soon. I think I’m finally ready to...you know.”

“I wouldn’t worry about it, it’s probably mine,” Grey joked, fishing a few stray strands out of his coffee. He wasn’t precious about that kind of thing. Catticus, as usual, was ignoring Grey, and he was perfectly fine with that. Cats had weird reactions to him now that he was a werecat, sometimes even trying to pick fights with him, but he preferred it when they just left him alone. “He hasn’t done that since the first time I came in… I think we’ve got things sorted now.”
Lennox glanced at Catticus, who was lounging by the window. For a cat that refused to go back outside, he sure liked to watch the people on the street. “Well, at least he’s not specifically targeting you anymore. There are a few customers he really hates.” All of those customers happened to be werewolves, so Lennox didn’t feel the need to scold the cat. He kept shelving the books in his arms, glancing back at Grey as he did so. “So, are you in here for a quick cup or do you have time to chat?”
