hello hello, late leokumi week submission for day 2 (animal)… okay not really but also yes! I wanted to do leokumi art of wolfskin!Leo and kitsune!Takumi because that’s been on my mind since forever, but I didn’t have the designs figured out yet sooo i decided to draw them first on my sketchbook 😪 It took me more than I expected and also i didn’t really have time to do the full drawing after finishing the designs so yeah. That’s all i got for now :P (I still want to draw the full drawing !! but since i dont know when that will be, i won’t post it as a submission for this event lol)

Here you have more details of the designs … I really want to polish this designs and clean them up. I promise this will happen,, someday :P

Well, I didn’t end up writing a full story. I’ve been sick recently and haven’t had much energy. But! I still wanted to contribute something to leokumi week. So here’s some headcanons I’ve thought of based on all the prompts for the week.

Gift/Other’s Perspective

- Both of them are headstrong and stubborn, and so they sometimes struggle to see things from the other’s point of view, especially because they come from such different cultures. It sometimes causes arguments, but they managed to pinpoint the problem pretty early on in the relationship and they know how to communicate to solve issues now.

- Sometimes the communication is just passive-aggressive notes left on benches but hey, they get there eventually.

- Gift giving in Nohr and Hoshido follow different conventions, which often leads to hilarious situations. One interesting example was the time Leo tried to be romantic and bought Takumi a bunch of flowers. Unfortunately, the bouquet included chrysanthemum, which is traditionally only used for funerals in Hoshido. I’m sure you can imagine just how thrilled Takumi was.

Animal/Domesticity

- Both of them like animals, but very much struggled when they wanted to adopt a pet together. Leo insisted that he didn’t want a house pet, and that his horse already counted as a pet; Takumi vehemently disagreed and insisted they get a dog. Eventually, they “compromised” and got a cat. Leo insists the cat’s fur triggers his hayfever, but Takumi thinks he’s being dramatic. Especially because he has caught Leo snuggling with the cat on more than one occasion.

- Both of them are rather terrible at chores and most domestic tasks, an unfortunate side effect of being raised as princes. They’ve mostly figured it out, but have had some interesting and embarrassing mishaps on the way. Most of these events occurred during their time at war, when all members of the army were expected to help around camp. Some particularly memorable moments include;

- Leo trying to use magic to do the laundry faster, and accidentally staining a whole load of laundry pink.

- Takumi forgetting he was cooking soup, and as a result burning it so badly he just threw away the pot rather than trying to clean it.

- Both of them working together to try and open an avocado by cutting straight through the pit.

- Takumi not realising that rhubarb leaves are poisonous and cooking them into a rhubarb pie.

- Leo trying to conjure a “light breeze” to get dusting done faster, and accidentally blowing over a whole cabinet full of trinkets.

Food/Parallels

- They often bond together over food as they have pretty similar tastes. Food is a way for them to connect to their families, their cultures, and each other. They frequently have date nights where one of them makes a cultural dish for the other to try; both Nohr and Hoshido have some pretty… interesting fermented dishes, and those who didn’t grow up with them often find them unpalatable. But neither of them have ever refused to try a dish yet.

- They are so similar in so many ways that they often joke that they share a brain. Their families agree, having continued to teasingly refer to them as “the twins” all throughout their relationship. All joking aside, their uncanny similarities have had both of them privately wondering if soulmates are real. Dorks.

Date Spot/Secrets

- Worried about how their families would react to the news of them dating the prince of a rival kingdom, Leo and Takumi kept their relationship a secret at first. They would often sneak around, and meet in secluded and private areas just to spend time with each other.

- They weren’t as subtle as they thought. Both of them tend to wear their hearts on their sleeves, no matter how much they try to suppress it. When they finally came out to their families, the response was almost unanimously “yeah… wait, were we not supposed to know?”

Fashion/Lyrics

- Leo actually has a very good fashion sense, despite his tendency to get dressed half asleep and put his clothes on inside out. Takumi sometimes takes him shopping because he has a great eye for colours and seems to almost instinctively know how a fabric is going to drape. Takumi will never, ever, reveal this information to Oboro.

- Takumi has a great ear for music and likes to write his own songs. He considers it a hobby and doesn’t think he’s very good, and is often too shy to play in front of anyone. One year for their anniversary, he wrote a song for Leo and performed it for him. Leo cried like a baby the entire time.

- Leo had taken mandatory piano lessons as a child, but never enjoyed it all that much. Takumi’s music inspired him to start playing again, and they often practice together now.

- (Edit: I forgot to add this originally) Takumi’s musical talent is singing. That man does not have the patience to learn an instrument. Can you imagine him practicing scales? A side effect of his singing is that he hums to himself. Often. Sometimes Leo finds it endearing, sometimes it drives him nuts. Swings and roundabouts.

Travel/Resistance

- When their relationship became serious and the war was over, both of them realised that the biggest issue their relationship would face would be the distance between them. They opted to travel together frequently, journeying all over the continent to offer relief aid and as a political envoy.

- Eventually, when the constant travelling became too much, they organised a “swap” system where they each would spend six months together in one kingdom, equally splitting their time between Nohr and Hoshido. When even this became too much, they had a house built right on the boarder between the two kingdoms, where they could live together for the rest of their days.

This is all I’ve got so far. If I come up with anything else I’ll add it in the replies. Feel free to add your own ideas too!

takumi teaching leo archery is an important cornerstone headcanon ngl. and feh simply added more fuel to it with mage takumi and bow unit leo 2 years ago. ive actually yet to draw it bc i keep wanting to make it a comic but archery especially theyd have to be physically close and touching and hm. maybe there's feelings. its a good one.

i have a similar headcanon that they read together! specifically i also like them reading at the same time and trying to compete with who solves the mystery first or guesses the twist or other really annoying book reader things that you can do. just finding whatever way to be competitive is the key i think. and of course theyd also have to be close to do that🤭 Also your art is so lovely i like the purple orange color of the light cast on the curtains and leo's expression is so tender...also the laces on his shirt lol. he should pay attention to that book before takumi finishes the page and catches him staring!

Alongside creation I thought it would be fun to have some sharing and conversations too. What's a favorite Leokumi headcanon of yours?

For me (mod nids) I like to imagine that after getting together, Leo and Takumi like to coordinate their outfits for special events or holidays. Whether it's fully matching outfits or just nods to each other in the accessories I like to imagine them matching in some way.

💜Leokumi Week 2025🧡

As expected, I couldn’t draw anything for Leokumi week this year :’) These past days I’ve been super busy and I couldn’t even start any drawing (BUT!! i will try to do some leokumi drawings based on the prompts asap, i swear!)

Anyway, I decided to do something different this year so I could participate! This ship means everything to me, and to demonstrate it I decided to compile all the Leokumi art I’ve drawn over the years (since 2017!!). Click on read more to see the full post as this is gonna have a lot of pics lol

2017/2018

First Leokumi drawings :3 I couldn’t find more art from this time, but this is the dearest era to me <3 I was 13-14 when i drew these!! And this ship was my ultimate OTP ever, so I loved drawing them. My dynamic for them in 2017 (in case it wasn’t obvious) was a very tsundere Takumi with a very teasing and flirty Leo LOL though i can’t see them Like That anymore, tsundere Takumi is always good 🫡🫡 The 2nd drawing here is part of a bigger drawing with all the Fates royals btw ❤️‍🩹

2019

Not a lot of Leokumi in 2019, sadly :’) But at least it’s something !! About the Leokumi wedding drawing: these designs came to me in a dream and I decided to draw them … Of course in the dream they looked better (more like feh groom!marth), but my art skills weren’t good enough lol

Tbh now I wouldn’t draw their wedding looks like this, I’d prefer to draw Takumi in something closer to japanese wedding attire 🙂‍↕️

2020

Finally closer to my favorite characterization: slightly tsundere takumi that, despite acting tough, can’t keep his cool around leo, who’s seemingly calm in every situation. This second drawing is a redraw of the fates royals drawing i mentioned before! that’s why you can see Corrin’s hair in the corner LOL The first drawing is also a redraw of the 2018 drawing of them reading together!

2021 - 2023

And lastly, my most recent drawings! 2021 was when my Ace Attorney brainrot started and Leokumi wasn’t in my mind all the time LOL that’s why i decided to dump the drawings from this time together! The day of devotion drawings have to be my favorite leokumi drawings I’ve ever done <3 they mean everything to me ,,, Also this is the first time i post the stupid soup store comic anywhere LMFAO but i might make an individual post for it later. Idek what possessed me to draw it? I just did? I guess it was because that video is super iconic TO ME😤

Anyway that’s all because last year i didn’t have time to draw them at all :( I just wanna say thank you to the @leokumiweek2022 mods for organizing this event !! Even if the ship isn’t as popular as it used to be, it’s nice to see people trying to keep it alive ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 Leokumi will always be my favorite fire emblem ship no matter what, and finding leokumi artists nowadays is like finding something you lost a long time ago <3

i like that its canon they have sword training bc it lets me make them do something that isnt ranged (ranged combat drawing my beloathed) LOL. something about it not being primary weapons for them means maybe they can approach it with each other without getting too hurt over how well they perform, maybe theyre even pretty evenly matched too.

also i decided id slap on the hc i put on the other website which was: I like to imagine takumi cries at their wedding, and he gets teased about it a bit. but afterwards and in private leo gets emotional because takumi referred to him as husband or some other gesture and so he cries then. and now leo cant make fun of takumi anymore for crying on their wedding day rip 😔
