A strange glimmer flashes through his eyes for a moment. The thought of being a combat medic almost causes a pit in his stomach -- but its different for those able to use magic. "I am unable to train you in arcane. I cannot use magic, but I am sure you do not need help with it."
"I assume you are familiar with close quarters? Fighting hand to hand with no weapon or magic available? If not, I think it would be invaluable. Even medical mages need to work in closer quarters to their teammates, you might need to fight without any weapons at all."
"I would suggest firearms if you are comfortable with hand to hand, but I can teach you the basics of every weapon you need to learn. In the Crownsguard it is required of all combat medics to carry at least one weapon to protect themselves and their patient."
Arctus wouldn't care if Cor scolded him. He was more experienced, and the prince trusted him only to do it with need. But he supposed they never interacted much. Neither knowing how the other was yet, as much as he'd been there for a good five years now.
He still managed to blush like he had been though. When Cor explained what he meant. He covered his face and groaned a little. Of course the Immortal would be thinking of the practical. He looked up again and scratched his neck sheepishly. Hopefully being sixteen would make up for that.
"Uh well, Dad only lets me stay at the camps on our deal. Heal them quicker but not immediately yeah? I'm too vulnerable on the field and can't risk using up all my magic," He said. "I was hoping maybe we could work on a weapon or fighting style that helps me switch fast between healing and fighting, while not using up my manna? So maybe daggers or Fire arms."

“i still need you.”
HARD-TO-FIND HURT / COMFORT SENTENCE STARTERS
"No, you don't." He pushes the crutch away from himself, practically throwing it into Swain's shin -- but Cor's slender arms can't do much damage to him, can't throw with any force that means anything. Cor is a husk of his old self, no muscles, no fat, bones and skin, and he sits on the ground on his hands and knees, digging his fingernails into the soft rubber mat underneath him, protecting him from his fall.
"You don't need me. Look at me... Look at me." He hisses with bone deep contempt in his voice, directed at both himself and at Swain. "Look at what they did to me..."
The scars on his body, the breaks in his bones under his skin, the bruises, the rope marks, the burns, the injection sites...
"You didn't need me when I was dead. You didn't need my team when we rotted. You don't need me. Nobody needs me. If you needed me, you would have found me. If you needed us, you would have kept us safe. If Mors--"
Cor cuts himself off by panting, he's covering up whatever he wanted to say about Mors, but it was true he did need to pause to catch his breath. "..."
After much long and careful breathing, all still not managing to help Cor catch his breath, he sinks a little, from his hands to his elbows, still on his knees. His whole body sinks a bit, like he's trying to stop himself from laying flat on the ground.
"... Mors said I've had over six months to get it together. I'm still... Crawling and gasping like this. He said when six months is over... the military is discharging me."
"... Mors says he doesn't need me. Nobody will hire me. But he's... going to hire me anyway."
"The military doesn't need failure." Cor stated simply.
The image of his teammates bodies, rotting, festering, putrid and flyblown, laying on the floor of his cell, a reminder from his captors that every time he refused a question, they would torture his team, and when they broke and died, Cor would have them shoved into his cage, until all five bodies were in there, rotting beside him, the flies digging in his wounds, huddled in a ball, covering his face, screaming...
"... I failed." He hissed.

Cor smirks slightly, although doesn't explain why. He appreciates Prompto's questions, because he knows he is paying attention, and he knows it matters. The more Prompto can learn, the better it is for them both.
"I will teach you." Cor explains. "The scope is really what you'll be learning. You know how to shoot." Cor shifts, and lays flat on the mat, stomach first, and pulls his own binocular in front of him. He puts his hand on the mat, indicating the rifle will be between both of them, with Cor sitting on the right side of it.
"Come here." He instructs. "Lay flat, and put your right arm over the butt of the gun and your hand under here." Cor pets the area near the trigger. "You can look through the scope and I'll explain what you're seeing. Okay?"
@leorugiet
It's like it always is with Cor; Prompto trying desperately not to look like his heart is beating a thousand miles a minute, somewhere between being terrified and honored and really wanting to step up and be exactly what-- Uh, well, what Cor seems to think maybe he could be.
Or he's being set up for colossal failure, either or. His eyes are maybe a little too wide taking in all the details, excited by the mechanical bits and still extremely unsure of himself. "Right. Uh, yes, sir."
Sit. Means hold still. Means pay attention. He's not going to be expected to hit anything on the very first try with a new gun, right? No, that'd be ridiculous. But then he's probably going to be expected to hit... something... "Do I... should I ask about the sight calibration or is that something I have to find out on my own?" And there he goes, already asking too many silly questions.

Jericho’s cheeks and nose have become a little freckled and his olive skin is turning a rich brown tone. Damp locks of jet black hair cling to his warm cheeks. He is still ‘filling out’ his uniform. Their training has made most of the new recruits bulk up considerably over the past months and Jericho is no exception, albeit his preference for magic is showing.
Dark eyes look at him with mischievous intent, and soft lips that have recently tasted cool water, press against his mouth, parting in a blink of an eye, before anyone has a chance to notice.
Young Swain beckons him away from the camp, with his gaze alone, picking up baskets of laundry as an excuse, and heading towards the river.
If Cor was supposed to react in some subtle way, he doesn't pick up on it. Once a pair of lips meet his own, he's dumbfounded, and once Jericho smirks and carries the laundry off, Cor is still sitting there, squatted over the basket of clothes, still dumbfounded.
He watches Jericho, the wet locks of his hair cling to the back of his neck. Cor can see the way his uniform is starting to fit him better. Cor looks down at himself. Cargo pants, and a stained white t-shirt, he usually didn't dress down into casual clothes, not wanting to bother wasting time with changing unless his uniform was too filthy to function in.
Cor finally grabs the last pairs of socks, and tosses them into the basket. The sun of Shurima is searing, but in the evening the burn is less intense, the water is cool and clear, and around the edge of the river are the myriad bushes and trees and fruits that the rest of the desert was denied. It was private, a place to shade oneself from the sunlight, and the river arches towards them, and Cor typically found a spot to just sit in the water, washing the clothes he was wearing, bathing, and also doing the laundry all in one go.
When he gets to the riverside, they are surrounded by brush, and the rivers slow trickle allows lotus to grow, the large leaves stay on the surface, while the flower rests in the water, retreating underwater until the sun sets.
"What was that for?" Cor huffed, and then stood in the ankle deep water, and started to sink the basket, filling it with water.
He didn't want it to be so obvious. So caught off guard by it, he didn't know what else to say, didn't even know how to reconcile it. Was he supposed to kiss back? Would Jericho spread pointless rumors about him now? Was that the only chance he had? It only aggravates him more to think about it.
Cor gave no other indication that that was his first kiss.
