09.07.2025 // fieldnotes and being an Art Critic™
it was surreal to have met my supervisor, who is visiting for her fieldwork, here in this city. meeting her in person helped because i've been feeling so disconnected/dissociated. sharing my anxieties and insecurities with her really helped; i've definitely been sleeping better since then. also, a temporary workspace that is reminiscent of my office at uni.

I couldn't let this essay sit on the shelf of the bookshop - it called to me.
Saturday, the 5th of July 2025
Yesterday, I jumped right into revising for my Russian exam. Taking a break wasn't in the cards for me and I am truly enjoying diving into another language aside from Czech. Yet it's 4 o'clock in the morning again and I am so tired. The plan of getting back to the countryside early did not work out since there was a delay of almost three hours. Around lunchtime I was at home but so fatigued, that I fell into bed and napped with the dog for a couple of hours. A bit drowsy but determined I am back at the desk to study Russian. Tonight will be quiet before my early shift at the coffehouse tomorrow.

M2 diaries 06/100: I started the Infectiology section and treated myself with the best matcha oat latte in town. My sister in law came for a visit and we went to the opera (Tschaikowski‘s Pique Dame).

Wednesday, the 28th of May 2025
Yesterday, I arrived in Prague. I have to admit that I was very excited to know the metro lines well enough to navigate the city without a map. I had a picnic on the balcony of my room before I went for a walk at dusk along the Vltava. On strělecký island there was a Czech folk band playing and I sat down to listen and read poetry. When I got back it was night, and I crawled tiredly into bed after having refused the offer of a visit to the karaoke bar and having consoled a crying lad in the hallways of the hostel. Although the night wasn't too restful, I got up early and strolled through Praha 5 until the rain got quite heavy and I fled into a breakfast café. Now I'm going browsing in a bookshop, and visit an exhibition with a friend before I'll have to be at the University in the afternoon.
P. S. I bought so many academic books on Czech history that I cannot get in Germany. My poor wallet and my poor back.
