The hottest thing Beatrice ever did was say “bit of an opening on your left” and fucking roundhouse Sister Crimson in the face. I would also fall in love if I was Ava.

My whole life, people have tried to make me into something I’m not. To make me “normal”, or at least “acceptable”. I became skilled at so many things just so I would still have value. Despite my flaws… or what I’d been taught was a flaw. Of course I tried to fit in. But when you’re punished just for being different, you begin to hate what you are. And what you love. What should make you happy… only brings you pain. Don’t hate what you are. What you are is beautiful.

hello everyone i found something new to cry about which is: the difference between the first and last hugs ava and mother superion share in season 2
first hug is ava launching herself into mother superion’s arms when they reunite in 2x03, and mother superion frozen in place, for just a moment, before returning the hug. just like beatrice in 1x03, she’s taken aback by ava’s affection, by how freely and unapologetically ava shows her desire & need for physical touch. when she hugs ava back, it’s very gently, gratefully, and lovingly of course - because she has grown to love ava very much - but there’s an undercurrent of carefulness that almost hinges on hesitation. mother superion is not the most effusive of women ; she’s clearly not used to giving hugs, and there’s a remnant of stiffness even as she melts into ava’s embrace.
but then in 2x08, after she talks to ava and understands what ava is about to do, it’s mother superion who hugs her. it’s mother superion who reaches out first to ava, holding her shoulder - knowing that words are not enough, that ava needs to feel, physically, the love and pride and respect mother superion has for her. and then she pulls ava towards her gently, and folds ava into a hug, and there’s no hint of hesitation anymore! it’s still a very gentle hug, but it’s also reassuringly firm, tight, with both arms around ava’s body, around her upper back, like you hold a child to comfort them, heads pressed close together. and it’s ava’s turn to melt into the embrace, and let herself be held for a little while - one last time.
and god… it just gets to me, how far these two have come
