Yes, you're right. That would be white-washing. Using someone who is confirmed to be white as someone who is a POC. Also to say, when I said Luke was considered white I wasn't talking so much of his skin-tone, but of his racial background because I wasn't truly sure what you meant. 

While, I can agree with you on that instance, it has been proven via Luke himself that most of his family are/were Italian and that he's a mixture of Sicilian and Neapolitan which is considered white, unless I'm mistaken (though, there has been instances that some can also have North African and Arab influences, but that might not be the case for him. He could simply just have a dark tan, which a lot of Italians possess.). Similar to that, just because a person has a darker skin tone doesn't mean they aren't white or even so much a POC. Actors such as Nina Dobrev, Sofia Black D'Eila, and Ariana Grande are just some of the other actors who were also thought to be a person of color (Ariana, Nina and Sofia were thought to be Hispanic/Latina) but confirmed not to be (Similar to Luke, Ariana and Sofia are Italian and Nina is Bulgarian - which is also considered white). Even in an instance Luke wasn't white, he still shouldn't be cast as Alejandro because he has never been confirmed to have any Hispanic/Latino background that Alejandro has. 

It would be better to use a Hispanic/Latino person for Alejandro, or someone close enough to the ethnicity, though I can understand how difficult that can be considering there is a lack of teenagers/young adults celebrities who are Latino/Hispanic. 

  I had been under the impression that white-washing was when a white actor is cast as a different ethnicity. Pasqualino isn’t white and isn’t even light skinned. Being from Europe does not automatically make people white as not all of Europe is white and Europe has never been completely white.

However, as your tags say it would be better to use a latino dude but just so you know that rules out his VA as well, which I had been under the impression was the more popular choice.

Just letting you know, if you use Luca Pasqualino as Alejandro, it'd be considered white-washing as Luca is fully Italian. He'll most likely be more appropriate for characters who are ambiguously brown.

If anyone’s looking for faceclaims for Alejandro I would like to suggest Luca Pasqualino as a possible alternate to Marco Grazzini.
