So, last May was crazy, my life was a mess, everything is literally so much better now it is basically unbelievable, so you know what that means!

MULTI-MAY IS COMING BACK IN FULL FORCE.

Let's talk about it, FAQ style.

What is Multi-May? It is a writing event I host to help put back into the community what I want to see more of, polyam and non-mono focused fic!

Why is Multi-May? I am a polyamorous and bisexual person and have known this about myself for about half my life now, without people making art about polyamory I might not have ever realized this about myself, seeing that representation was huge, and so I still find it extremely important to see it so, I made this event to encourage and foster this kind of creative work that I desperately want to see more of and view as vitally important. It brings me untold joy, too.

How many times have you done this? 2025 is the third year in a row I am doing this.

When is Multi-May? The entire month of May!

Can anyone get involved? You sure can! I have a small pool that I write for, but this event is to spread the love for more of this kind of fic in fandom OVERALL.

How do I participate? Easy! Write any sort of flavor of non-monogamy or polyamory fic that you want, tag is Multi-May and PLEASE tag me so I can see it! Any and all Multi-May fic regardless of fandom I WILL read and reblog! Fandom blind, I don't care, I am here for it!

What if I don't write? No fear here, show your love any creative way you can, draw, make edits, gif-sets, aesthetics, collages, playlists, headcanon posts, I personally just write for it, but don't feel limited! Still tag me writing or no!

And if I don't have the time, energy, space, or ability to create this Multi-May but still want to be involved? Perfectly understandable, so the best way to be involved comes in the form of hyping others up! I cannot overstate the importance of engaging, even if you are not making stuff yourself, you can comment or reblog others work, even recc some of your fave polyam works, even talk about your fave polyam! ships.

We are a month out, let's gear up for a good Multi-May! Spread the word and let's have fun!

Tumblr Migration

We are aware that people on Tumblr are looking for a new home. If you know any Japanese media fandom or creators who are looking to move to the Fediverse, we do have plenty of capacity (thanks to the recent migration to a more powerful server). Each have large character limits.

Sakurajima is the Mastodon server I started as an alternative to the birdsite. The aim is to build a safe, inclusive, and fun Japanese media fandom and creator community like we have back in the early 2010s and late 2000s. We have a diverse moderator team and of course, it's run by an Asian American. We have a good number of creators on our server.

I may still make posts to promote cool stuff that I did or other people did on this blog and on @leagueofgardens, but I don't feel any more welcome on this site than I do on Twitter.

I've already started checking out the English-speaking side of the Fediverse, hopefully it's not a ghost town for my interests like Cohost is. Will share my handle here once I feel confident I'm going to be active on that account.

For those keeping score, CEO of Automattic/Wordpress/Tumblr Matt Mullenweg posted a video today from a comedian who praises JK Rowling and hangs out with known transphobes Jesse Singal and Katie Herzog, a day after tracking down a trans woman he banned from Tumblr and harassing her on Twitter after his "I am not a transphobe" posts.

I'm really tired of every website that's large enough to have an English-speaking community for my ludicrously obscure interests (meaning, like, three other people usually) self-destructing in an explosion of bigotry.

Maybe I'll just stick to the Japanese side of the internet from now on.

If it comes out someday that Discord is systematically anti-trans too, there goes the very last place where I can talk to people in English.

Femslash February 2024

While I've been too scatterbrained to write anything new for Femslash February so far, I thought I would seize the opportunity to highlight my existing femslash fics. It would make me very happy if anyone read them, since they're mostly sitting at double or triple digit hit counts at the moment.

I consider these fics of mine definitely femslash:

A Dream Where All the Flowers Bloom (Assault Lily, Shenlin Kuo/everyone, 24k words, T rating): Even though she has Yujia, Shenlin embarks on a journey to confess her love to every other girl in Team Hitotsuyanagi, one after the other... but her reasons for doing it are more complex than just loving them. Slightly angsty poly romance with a happy ending. (Despite the fic title, it does not take place in a dream.)

The Girl Who Wished She Were a Cat (Assault Lily, Tazusa Ando/Mai Thi Yoshimura, 10k words, M rating for violence): An AU prequel to Assault Lily Bouquet where Mai is a Boosted Lily and rescues Tazusa from GEHENA personally. Tragic romance with an ending that's maybe happy, maybe not. It's also a bit of a dead dove fic. Approach with caution.

Bánh Mì (Assault Lily, Mai Thi Yoshimura/Yuyu Shirai, 2k words, G rating): Mai makes Yuyu something nice for her birthday. Fluffy and very subdued romance.

A Sickness of the Heart (Labyrinth of Galleria, Eureka de Soleil/Nachiroux Colbert, 2k words, T rating): Nachiroux falls ill, and Eureka fusses over her. Fluffy and not-so-subdued romance.

These fics are, admittedly, borderline:

Hifumi's Squad Meeting (Blue Archive, Hifumi Ajitani/Azusa Shirasu, 2k words, G rating): Azusa introduces her girlfriend, Hifumi, to her family. Mostly comedy, but they are girlfriends. Even if Azusa isn't too great at the whole "showing affection" thing.

Hitotsuyanagi Kitty (Assault Lily, Riri Hitotsuyanagi/Tazusa Ando, 2k words, T rating): Riri mysteriously turns into a cat and Tazusa ends up taking care of her. Mostly comedy, and Riri is a cat, but I think I made the ending quite sweet.

I do have one new fic idea brewing and I hope I'll be able to write it before the end of the month. No promises, though.
