As an actual admissions professional and not just a talking head on TV, I felt it was my responsibility to add some context to the whole “Aunt Becky from Full House bribed coaches with $500,000 to get her daughters onto the crew team at USC” story. Follow the link above to my blog.
Long story short, College is no longer exclusively for the rich, famous, and powerful. Since the 60′s, it has been a way for the poor to actually have a chance to follow the “American Dream”. Because of that, now the rich, famous, and powerful have to find new things exclusively for them. That is why “prestigious schools” exist.
